Richard Bailey of The Koalition writes: Phantom Blade Zero was first announced during a PlayStation showcase live stream back in May 2023. Self-described as an ambitious action RPG set within a gritty steampunk-inspired world, Phantom Blade Zero wowed fans and left many wondering when they might finally get their hands on the finished product.
Phantom Blade Zero dev S-Game admits there is now more pressure on the studio and game due to Black Myth Wukong's success.
Bruh chinese always made mad cashbif you count gacha games the $$$ it brings is crazy.
When Chinese action game Phantom Blade Zero was first revealed to the world, it drew countless comparisons to FromSoftware's Souls games, to the point its director (the appropriately-nicknamed "Soulframe" Liang) had to repeatedly downplay the influence. More recently, as more of Phantom Blade Zero has been shown, it's been compared favourably to the Ninja Gaiden series for its combo-led combat. So where exactly does it sit on this spectrum?
Black Myth WuKong was great. Even if they don’t surpass it and just come close to as good that is a win in my eyes as that’s how good Black Myth was to me
Phantom Blade Zero made the bold decision to include difficult settings so this instantly opens up the game to more people and increased potential of success. Given that Black Myth WuKong was a low 80s rated game this leaves a lot of room for a higher score.
On March 19/20 (depending on your Time Zone), Kinda Funny Games had another broadcast where they talked about some popular games of today. On the topic of Phantom Blade Zero, Andy shared his impressions and a couple of peculiar facts about the game: Phantom Blade Zero will have three game modes/difficulty levels and eight different endings.
A fantastic action RPG that is definitely worth checking out.
So sick of people saying everything is 'souls-like' including this game. The only things the 'souls' games brought to the table was losing your experience points on death, respawning enemies when resting/saving and having to memorise enemy positions and attack patterns via bloody trial and error.......that's it!
They didn't redefine shit! I've heard people say that Phantom Blade 0 has 'souls-like' level design.....what the actual fuck is that? Being able to explore?? Finding secrets?? Unlocking shortcuts between areas?? What?? All stuff done way before bloody 'souls' games.....or did everyone just start gaming in the last 12 years?
