Nearly 90% of Xbox players who have started Hellblade 2 haven't made it through the action-adventure game's short seven-hour runtime to complete its story.
In an enhanced version
Reaper: “Whilst Hellblade II is coming to PS5, Starfield and Halo will NEVER be released on PlayStation.”
All Xbox games will come to Playstation, pc and if switch 2 can handle it will be on there too. This is best for gamers. Play the games on the platform of your choice.
Play on Xbox and pc with GP
Play on PS paying full price same for Nintendo
MS get the best of both markets
Starfield i can most definitely say will come. Because it was in talks with Sony before the buyout. Halo... maybe not. unless MS can ink a deal with Bungie to take over the series and then by virtue of being owned by Sony then it will come.
As for this game, all i can say is the graphics were stunning on the SX... I can only imagine they will be even crisper on the 5Pro.
I’ll take that bet. How much we wanna put down that those DO come out on PS5?
I think Xbox is in such a position that they want their console to be essentially a Gamepass machine, which, sure that would be far affordable for many. Whereas, PS5 you pay the full price for their Xbox releases. I don’t think they benefit from holding back certain releases, assuming that’s their angle.
It's not about brand and fans anymore. It's about money and profits. Future Xbox consoles will be more like Steam Decks. Physical media is disappearing and digital is taking over.
@neutralgamer1992
"Play on Xbox and pc with GP
Play on PS paying full price same for Nintendo
MS get the best of both markets"
PERFECT!!!
Fail to see what the problem is with them coming to PS5.
In fact I can actually laugh at all of the ppl who used to say Xbox has no games yet are happy about Gears Remasters, Forza5, Sea of Thieves, Grounded, etc.
In the end good game deserved to be played
I wouldn't be surprised if Dreamcast Guy re-reviews Hellblade 2 on PS5, and now gives it a 9/10 score
Why do you think that? Xbox is changed now. Now it's all about releasing most of the games on playstation. Geara is coming to ps5. Gears was the xbox brands biggest game with halo and Forza. And two of them are already there or on the way. I own both consoles and I do think this is good for us. The more they sell the better games we get in the future. And if the rumors are true the next gen xbox will play steam games so it will play ps5 ( pc release games) and that will be good for us. More new ip and less remake and re releases hopefully.
Hahahahaha very funny
PlayStation has gears and Forza that's two of the major pillars of Xbox halo is just another Domino and I hope starfield doesn't come it wasn't very good
They're all coming Philip Bartholomew Spencer has essentially said so as his bosses told him to say. I dont care about Hellblade 2 always looked like you're walking on rails. Gears remake will be a day 1 game for me.
MS is forced to release its games on the competition. I feel bad for people who invested in xbox at this point.
Their next showcase will be digital because a live show might involve actual Xbox gamers’ reactions to Xbox games going to PlayStation and that would be embarrassing for MS.
@venom:” will NEVER be released on”
…
.
Where have I heard that before🤔 🤔 🤔
Oh that’s what sega fanboys said about sonic the hedgehog games on Nintendo and PlayStation 🤣 🤣
M$ will release those on PlayStation their addiction to big💰demand it and can’t resist it 🤣 🤣
I love seeing Xbox Console Warriors now pretend like they don't care about their console.
Newsflash - Playstation doesn't compete with EA, Ubisoft, Sega, or 3rd party publishers like Microsoft. Keep those exclusives coming over and watch Xbox consoles fade into obscurity.
They are already doing day and date releases... For example, Doom, Gears Reloaded, Outer Worlds 2, Call of Duty...
Well it's mostly been older releases, stuff that's already been on ps and a couple remasters/remakes, I'm talking about future halos, gears, forzas....
@IRetrouk okay I see what you are saying. I honestly think they just had to ramp up their PS5 development kits and what not. It is in Microsoft's best interest to release on PlayStation day and date to maximize hype for new titles so I am sure you are right.
I also get your point lol, kinda just cements what's happing really, and agree, I'm sure some ramping up was needed, especially after cancelling or "holding" dev on some ps5 versions of games.
"They are already doing day and date releases... For example, Doom, Gears Reloaded, Outer Worlds 2, Call of Duty..."
Indeed.
The fact they´re also going full digital with the upcoming Xbox Showcase, is further indication that more day and date games announces for every platform might happen.
@IRetrouk
Why wouldn't they release new multiplayer games like Gears, Halo, and Forza day 1 on PS5?
Xbox users get to have the PC/Version included in the purchase, plus the possibility to play it on Game Pass
So there's more benefit as an Xbox user (especially Game Pass).
It brings more money to MS and more players for the health of the game.
@pete not sure i understand the question, I wasn't stating if they should or shouldnt do it or if it is good or bad, just that it was happening, but for the record, I've been saying for years ms should go this route🤷♂️
I'm not sure how ms releasing games multiplat helps benefit xbox users more, you get the same if they were exclusive or not, your right about the money and player base though, it is a good thing.
its all going to come now eventually , xbox officially saying we lost without saying the words, the final nail in the coffin is obviously halo, xbox as a brand is finished with gears and forza gone, 0 exclusives with everything coming to PC and now even playstation
"Won't stop here, watch, day and date announcements next."
Look no further than the latest´s games sales data!
Xbox first party games sales destroyed everything at Playstation last month!
FIVE games in the Top 10 best selling games!
https://bsky.app/profile/di...
Now ask me if I`m unhappy to see Xbox games thriving as Playstation´s gamers favorite games this year?
We used to hear that Xbox games were all trash! So obviously I´m very happy that those opinions do not reflect the opinion of actual Playstation gamers that actually BUY and PLAY games!
Yeah, they are doing great, destroyed everything at playstation? Lmao, those are at playstation, just like those other 3rd party games they outsold...
We already know how you feel about this🤣 all you did was change your opinion as soon as phil told you too lol
The years not over yet, favourite games of the year is again, probably giving way too much credit to those sales charts you now love, we got plenty of games coming from all over yet.
Like it or not for over a decade xbox releases were either bad, severely lacking or just more of the same with little innovation, the quality ones selling isn't surprising, I'd say gears is gonna do a couple mill easy, real question is, why it took releasing them on playstation to see these games chart🤔
They didn't destroy anything at PlayStation they destroyed on PlayStation huge difference
Sony and Microsoft both making money
Let's not rewrite history here, most of those games were already being made by third parties (going to be on playstation anyways) before Microsoft bought them in the last 4 years. It's games that Microsoft was producing before they bought 2 giant publishers that mostly sucked, you know it and I know it.
@obscure
Now it’s great that xbox games are playable on PlayStation? You fought tooth and nail that their games would never be on PlayStation. Now you say it’s amazing?
To be clear, PlayStation gamers are the winner here. They get to play the games. MS makes money, but at the expense of losing relevance and trust.
@StormSnooper
"To be clear, PlayStation gamers are the winner here. They get to play the games. MS makes money, but at the expense of losing relevance and trust."
They have to pay full price for those games while we´ll be getting everything day one on Gamepass. Works for me.
We get to play MORE and better games for cheap since Xbox games selling like hot cakes on all platforms will only fund or games on Gamepass making it bigger and better. Oblivion Remake, Clair Obscure, Doom The Dark Ages along with Metaphor which just dropped on Gamepass out of nowhere.
All of those AMAZING games in what? 40 Days?
I much rather play all those games on Gamepass while saving big money for my next gen Xbox. I don´t care for Sony´s GaaS crap and the only game which interest me on PS5 at the moment is Intergalactic which is not reason enough for me to go out and buy a PS5.
So you can keep your "trust" in Sony while you pay full $80 for everything to make them feel relevant or whatever.
I rather stick with Xbox, thank you. To each their own.
Obscuire Observron said: “Avowed and South of Midnight and Gears of War and Halo will never come to PlayStation.”
@VenomUK
“Obscuire Observron said: “Avowed and South of Midnight and Gears of War and Halo will never come to PlayStation.””
And I heard that Xbox games were trash.
@Obs Obs
This game, Redfall, and Starfall are all trash. Meanwhile FH5 and Gears are all great games.
@Obscure, console wars are over bud, we'll have all the best xbox games on playstation soon enough. We buy our games on playstation.
@obscure
Their best games are not trash, but they are not as good as PlayStation games. Selling good on PlayStation simply means a lot of gamers hadn’t played them because they were on a xbox platform with a historically low/lower installment base. But that should be obvious to anyone.
I am much more interested in Avowed than Hellblade. But they need to actually put the games on disc.
I don't think Remedy want to revisit QB anytime soon... and it's a shame too as playing it at 60fps is a much needed improvement. Same with Ryse and SSOD. I play all those on my steamdeck in better performance.
SSOD would be welcomed with open arms and probably give the much needed shot to green light the sequel that has been on hiatus for so long.
I would expect a Rare Replay compilation for Switch before PlayStation.
Quantum Break will probably never happen due to numerous reasons, like licensing deals for the actors
But Sunset Overdrive would be a perfect fit for PlayStation.
Horde mode! Endless waves of... 1 enemy at a time.
I don't get the point of announcing it this way. It's not like word of mouth was near as good as the first game so revealing the port as an Enhanced version without detailing a single Enhancement is certainly a choice.
Being able to apply a visual filter while playing I guess would be nice but I can't think of one thing that would make me actually want to play through it again any time soon. Unless there's like a new chapter where we can fight 2-3 enemies at once lol
I'm only surprised this took so long. I actually haven't gotten around to playing it yet but despite my hype before launch I'm unlikely to buy it now because I got put off so much with friends feedback
I my self who didn't play the first one. I had it completed within 5 and a bit hours of play. Graphics, animations, voice acting is fine. Puzzles where good. The combat was very basic.
Couldn't get on with the story what so ever. The constant voices was really off putting to the point half way through the game I turned off the combat so I could just get the game over and done with quickly.
If you enjoyed the first game. You should enjoy this. If you never played the first one like my self. Then it could be a terrible experience or you may enjoy it.
Play the first, graphics are a step down but still great, game wise it is a much much better game. (Puzzles are meh still though) but if you though 2 was good or okay, part one is fantastic.
I enjoyed the first and enjoyed this one too.
I played it on PC with a 3080 and the graphics are jaw dropping. I don't know what it's listing for but given how short it is I don't think it's worth more than $25 though
Probably the most honest take yet. I remember the all the hate the game was getting just a year ago. 2 hour game, walking Sim, boring. Now I just see optimism "all of a sudden" congrats to the team we knew it coming but I hardly see akeeping that same energy from when it first released.
Clearly we know why it was only on Xbox and PC.
Same was said when the first game was a PlayStation exclusive. Called it a short game, a walking sim, an indie game, how short it was. Then Xbox bought Ninja Theory, and suddenly it was the best game ever.
Then the second game (this game) was hailed as the best game of the generation and sets a benchmark that others have to reach. How the game is the most cinematic game out, when many were trashing Sony for their cinematic games. With saying such as if I wanted to watch a movie I would turn on Netflix or something. Thst games suppose to have levels a start and end of a section and a tally of some sort.
Pretty graphics but no substance, from many thst played it, even the same article writers had to then turn around and say that he game had nothing going for it but its graphics. Now that Xbox have more developers they’re getting more cinematic games and suddenly cine games are okay. Same as when they said superhero games are lame and tired because they were mad that Spider-Man wasn’t on their console, but suddenly changed tune when Blade was announced.
Not many keep the same energy when things suddenly become available to them.
Thank you Abnor_Mal for pointing out that BOTH sides do it which is why it is pointless to do what Lightning is doing if you are only going to call out ONE side.
@ab
So why did PS fans like the first one but but didn't like the second one?
I know I'm aware the talking points are on other sides I see and fully aware of it but I'm taking about Sony fans specifically here. lets start with that.
@Lightning77
I can’t actually speak for anyone, and I myself while I did get the game on PS Plus, I never played it so can’t personally speak of the appeal of the game. It was a game that some liked for what it was to them a good game.
As I previously said about some Xbox fans view of the game when it wasn’t on their platform changed their tune when it arrived, and more so when Xbox bought the developers. So right there I would guess is where the issue really started.
Turn about is fair play, I think is the saying when it comes to the second game. Some PS fans I guess felt that the game was suddenly being overhyped since it was now under the Xbox umbrella, then the long development time with only one “cinematic” trailer while visually good didn’t show much more, with a few more trailers closer to release. When the game released it looked great, but was lacking in gameplay more than the previous game. Also the game length was even shorter and it was even more of a walking sim. I’m not sure but I think the game was rated high in reviews but based primarily on graphics alone even though the game length and lack of exciting combat was glossed over. Same as the writing, which I recall people saying wasn’t as good as the first and the whole psychosis thing went in a different direction.
Again both sides do the same, a game isn’t good if it isn’t on my console or until it hits my console, similar to Death Stranding I guess.
@Ab fair points especially the whole point when Xbox bought the studio the game was "suddenly" really hyped up. Which it clearly was. It's seemed like PS fans really liked the the first one but turned on the second one also knowing MS bought them (x fanboys hyped it as I said) meh either didn't matter as much. Maybe the ones changing their tune will support it at the end of the day.
Loved the first but the 2nd is nit a great game, Gameplay, Story, Puzzles, combat are all mess. It is a hell of graphical showcase though so looking forward to DF analysis.
Would like to see the enhanced version of Hellblade 1 come to PlayStation.
I know Sony has a few games in 2025 which will be amazing I already preorded DS2 but without Microsoft it would of been a bleak year but they are filling these holes nicely and PS5 users are getting game after game, I think June they will announce Starfield with the 2nd DLC on PS5, and I'm sure Avowed and South of Midnight will be there around holiday.
Well, most consoles libraries over the year consist of mostly 3rd party games from publishers, since MS is fully embracing being a full blown 3rd party publisher now, it's no different that capcom, EA and others releasing games on playstation really imo.
Can we have Quantum Break? Not an amazing game, but a great curiosity, a serviceable 3rd person shooter, some crazy effects, lots of FMVs, and a connection to the rest of Remedy's Universe. It helps complete the set on the PS5 is all I'm saying.
lol
its all going to come now eventually , xbox officially saying we lost without saying the words, the final nail in the coffin is obviously halo, xbox as a brand is finished with gears and forza gone, 0 exclusives with everything coming to PC and now even playstation.
It looks pretty but that’s about it. Maybe I’ll get it when it’s cheap. Actually, they probably won’t put the full game on disc so maybe I’ll wait for really cheap.
Boring linear game, one of the most boringest games i have ever played, same with indiana jones.
Honestly, I'm glad exclusivity is going away, and more people can play certain games without needing new hardware. PlayStation players are getting hooked up, and that's great. Enjoy, fellow PS players.
When I tell you this is one of the most boring experiences I’ve ever had on a game… Got it day one on Gamespass, downloaded on my PC, “played” (used loosely) in max settings, and after being wowed by the graphics and photo mode, I realized how incredibly anti fun the game is. Got to the point where I simply could not turn it on anymore. Honestly cannot remember a game I enjoyed less in the last… who knows how many years.
The only Microsoft game worth porting is Quantum Break.
Every PlayStation owner deserves to enjoy that masterpiece.
Enjoyed QB and hated how the media treated it harshly due to FMV.
The funniest part was to read about how collecting was so bad and tedious, but so fun in Control, despite being the same mechanic.
And worse, the critic was made by the same reviewer.
https://www.gamespot.com/re...
https://www.gamespot.com/re...
The same mechanic can be good in one game and terrible in another. Thats pretty normal.
And I say that as someone who enjoyed both games.
Going to be honest, if these games interested me I would have played them already. But if Fable, Avowed, and the like make their way to PS5, I might finally get rid of my XSX.
Don't care about who's company is making more money or winning but as a gamer, I only care about game and I'm just glad to have access to these games without even having to own multiple PC/consoles.
Never heard of it. I didn't know it was another one of Microsoft exclusive.
So that makes the 4th game to go to Playstation?
The speed of Microsoft releasing their games is unthinkable for their devoted fans.
You would have to be stupid to be an xbox fan they are selling out their brand and therefore fan base left and right
Can't polish a turd no matter how much you enhance it. I'm fairly confident not many playstation fans ever said Forza was rubbish. Maybe not as good as GT but not rubbish. Most of the criticism over the last 15 years was they relied on Forza, Halo, Gears. Then had to buy whole publishers and release a rental service just to become somewhat competitive.
I agree. I even said during its launch that this is the only game(Forza Horizon) that I respect from xbox lineup.
There is not a whole lot to enhance, it looks great and runs pretty well too. Some QoL changes would be nice.
Wait, but running on a PS5 Pro compared the Series consoles there should be plenty to enhance given the specs of the console. Right or wrong?
Is there plenty to enhance on a PS5 Pro? Resolution and a 60fps mode perhaps. The visuals, sound and artwork are already very good, so I'm not sure what there is left to enhance. The enhancement is also coming to Xbox and PC so what will be PS5 Pro exclusive?
It's really funny how MS is announcing all the games one by one and not the full list already. It's like they love to make xbox fanboys suffer.
Oh can we trade this for another game this was so dammn boring when I played it on PC gamepass
Love this!!! Gamers should be able to play all games on the platform they want! Power to the gamers
4/10 from edge magazine, which happens to be the same score they gave Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 which is probably coming next
It isn't on PS5 unless it is on disc. Otherwise it is just another insignificant paper release.
Tried it on PC with pretty much max settings. Game looked fab, but it was easily one of the most boring games I have played. I got about 5 hours in and couldn't even bring myself to push on to the end which was very close at that point.
Microsoft may have begun internally testing Steam integration within the Microsoft Store environment, with the intention of eventually bringing it to the next-generation Xbox console.
Now Xbox players who’ve been dying to play PlayStation games will choose to play Spider-Man, The Last of Us and God of War. Horizon: Zero Dawn - not so much.
@Venom
It's being claimed Sony can block their games from being available on Microsoft's hybrid console/PC that will have Steam on it. I saw it on Twitter by a well known source
Even if in a limited fashion, It will allow integration with Steam so Xbox console gamers will get access to their Steam library and get to play some PC only games, which is awesome news for console only player like myself.
Yes, they'll be able to play PC only games because.... they will have bought a PC
@Obscure_Observer
I don't think that is going to happen. It sounds like you think PC games are coming to Xbox. What this is is just bring PC to.... PC.
Well IF they can get the emulator to work, bringing Xbox to PC. Whether or not you call this Windows dressing a console is debatable. This will definitely get them out of the console business though
"Yes, they'll be able to play PC only games because.... they will have bought a PC"
Being hearing such clueless talk since 2001 when the original Xbox introduced hard drive and broadband internet to consoles.
Some people will just hate and fear what they can´t comprehend.
@Eonjay
"I don't think that is going to happen. It sounds like you think PC games are coming to Xbox. What this is is just bring PC to.... PC."
Then why spend so much money to make Xbox consoles a part of the equation? Seriously dude, your comment doesn't even make sense and defies any reasonable logic..
Microsoft did not introduce broadband or harddrive use in consoles, they did standardise it though.
As for the rest, you had the same response to ms becoming a 3rd party publisher....didn't believe it untill ms told you to, didn't like it till ms told you to...
You won't be getting steam on a console ecosystem, stop dreaming, infact the next console is up in the air, you'll be lucky to get an oem arm device at best and at worst, a pc with an xbox sticker....
Told you already, they moving you hardcore xbox boys to pc...
You talking about logic is funny, especially when all you do is parrot what you hear from ms and pivot your opinion as much as they pivot their messaging to align with what they say, just buy a pc bro, it'll be easier for you going forward.
@obscured: “ Xbox + Steam = Instant Buy!
Day One!!! “
.
Is there anything Xbox that isn’t day one for you?
Is your Xbox fridge working for you or frozen up with a red ring I remember you was going to get it day one.
Having steam integrated on the next market is a nice thing to have that would had been better a generation ago but better late than never 🤷🏿
Personally I will ALWAYS BUY A SYSTEM FOR THE GAMES NOT A STORE FRONT 🤦🏿
believe it or not, many pc gamers boycott games based on the storefronts. Steam or no buy according to many of them
I honestly don't get the point of this. There is already a Steam Store on PC so adding it to the MS store seems redundant. Also this doesn't really mention Xbox.
This is just a simple integration on the Xbox app for PC to see both libraries at the same time gog already offers this.
In the future the next box will not run Xbox software but instead it will Run uwp apps to unify PC and console.
It presents a number of problems like the steamdeck verification system and requiring a wrapper for third parties but it means you don't have to Dev for a console anymore and just Dev for PC
Means that backwards compatibility has to be offered via a translation layer like wine to and full BC is not a given.
It's a interesting take but I see it only working short term like steam deck getting a steam deck verified game is getting harder and the system is only a few years old
Sounds more like a PC with the Xbox and steam logo on it 😂 I'm sure it's going to be expensive as well since it's rumor to be using the ARM architecture technology
No need for me to buy an Xbox anymore, last one i owned was 360 anyway. That and the original were good consoles. Everything is on PC now and I usually keep mine fairly modern so it's always going to outperform it, and I like to mess with apps and programs that you can't do on console so..
We already have xbox games integration, it's called Steam.
MS store is like Bing, no one wants it.
Xbox store is more flexible than Steamnif you own a console. Cross saves and cross buy is amazing.
If a game is on the Xbox store and Steam, given the choice, I buy the Xbox store version.
If a game I want gets released, I always check the Xbox store first.
"If a game is on the Xbox store and Steam, given the choice, I buy the Xbox store version."
Found the Bing user.
This site is so retarded. There's literally no downside for buying on the PC xbox store if you have a console.
If the game released on the PC Xbox store, if you buy it there, you get the game for free on console.
And you share the same save file.
If I buy the game on Steam, if I wanted to play that game on console, I would have to buy it again.
I get it, because it's Xbox/Microsoft, it's automatically bad.
It's only a benefit to check if a game released on the Xbox store.
......what's wrong with Bing? Its good to use it to get points towards stuff like movie tickets, xbox gift cards, etc.
That isn't what this is. I would really like to know where the misinformation is coming from.
Maybe the next Xbox is a PC with an Xbox app that boots up when you turn it on but allows you to run PC apps and Xbox games will be converted to a version playable on PCs as well... but don't expect PC games to come to Xbox consoles.
I imagine they will let you download an app that allows you to play your Xbox games on PC. But you will still be able to download from Steam because it is a PC.
This isn't going to turn PC games into console games. It's not even going to change how Steam changes at all since no third-party is going to want to give you a PC and console copy of a game for the same price without someone paying for it.
@terry: “ .who asked for this?”
Refer to post one that couldn’t wait for this amazing killer app that will entice all Nintendo, Sony and PC gamers to buy the next generation of Xbox console 🤣
Edited for typos
Makes sense doesn't it? If we are going to have Dell Alienware Xbox's and HP Xbox and Lenovo Xbox and Asus TuF Gaming Xbox PC's. A console like PC with a limited/customised windows with console form in mind.
Most likely but unfortunately that's just the way the world is now. Nintendo charging $500+ for a handheld that's roughly as powerful as a PS4 pro from 2016.
Sony charging $700 for a PS5 Pro.
Microsoft charging $730 for a 5 year old console with a extra 1tb of storage.
Apple charging $800 for the cheapest iPhone 16.
Samsung charging $800 for the basic s25.
Funny seeing Xbox fans on twitter claiming they finally getting Playstation games on Xbox.
Firstly, steam is an add-on, not a Xbox. So you can't say playstation games are now on Xbox.
Secondly, steam is being tested as per rumours. Basically if it failed to get it working flawlessly on Xbox, ha.
Apparently, Sony has the right/ability to block their games working on a next gen Xbox or handheld even if they are in fact just standard PC's with a Xbox logo on the plastic.
But that would make sense because it's a PC. Like I don't think people understand that Xbox as a console is dead. If you put an Xbox app on your PC... it's still a PC and should be able to run all Steam games.
@Eonjay
Oh don't get me wrong I agree with you. If the next Xbox consoles are just small form factor PC's with a customized windows from different brands. Then no reason for Sony to block their games working on it.
But apparently due to licensing they can if they want to.
It's possible they can either create a hurdle like PSN sign up requirements. Give a reason for blocking their games in certain regions. Depends how many Ppl on xbox through steam buy the game. That's just it, say if large amounts of ppl buy PS games on it I have a tough time seeing reasons to pull games away if they're making money and, most importantly, if their console sales aren't at risk. Which I have a very hard time seeing because PS games hit PC about a year or so later so their console sales aren't at risk.
https://www.notebookcheck.n...
Sony may block playstation steam games on Xbox rumour.
Xbox Live aka GP and PlayStation Plus charge for online multiplayer, while Steam does not. Will Microsoft lose that revenue in the process of integrating these platforms?
That's actually a really good question because if the next Xbox is an open PC (which it kinda has to be to run Steam) it will make charging for online play redundant. Wouldn't you just buy all your multiplayer games on Steam Store? And how would Microsoft be able to charge you to play online? And wouldn't the Xbox games just be MS Store versions of the game where online play is already free?
That is something to really think about. If the next Xbox is indeed a pc and has steam. Then not only should online play for pc he free (massive uproar it not). Then GP subs would surely move over the the cheaper GP for pc?
So.
What else does Xbox need to finally get some grip?
Zenimax, ActivisionBlizzardKing, Gears & Forza on Playstation, cannibalization of retail for GP, Steam, maybe Playstation exclusives via Steam, tried buying out Nintendo, etc.
It's hilarious.
GP has shown to not cannibalize sales especially when you factor in PS. If GP was so enticing then everyone would have GP and ignore buying it on PS which they haven't. Clair has over 2 million sales and Oblivion also has over 2 million. AA games don't usually get bought as ppl mostly go that game. Again there's also different store fronts like Steam also and PC guys aren't gonna switch to play on GP.
Let's ignore cannibalization then, which, according to you, doesn't happen at all.
Let's ignore it.
However, my question remains unanswered.
What else does Xbox need to finally gain some grip?
Zenimax, ABK, Minecraft, GP, tried buying out even Nintendo (and Sega, Warner Bros., From Software, etc.), porting true Xbox IPs to PS, and now they're reaching even for Steam.
What else does ONE brand only need to finally get some grip?
Because after 25 f'n years they still haven't.
While Nintendo and Playstation doing their thing without any of that shit, not even close.
Not really. If steam is on xbox ma loses its cut on games sold on the hardware cos no way steam is sacrificing theirs they got no reason to. That means console business model is broken. So you get pc prices for decent hardware or underpowered hardware.
As a consumer who doesn’t PC game much, yes, it’s actually pretty cool to have access to PC only games on a console.
@CrimsonWing69
But it wont be a "console" anymore. It's simply a repackaged PC that will never be fully optimized. Calling it a console is antiquated language. A console is a "walled garden" experience with custom architecture where developers work to optimize its hardware. It sounds like what MS is doing is basically throwing PC components into a box and calling it a day. You may as well just build your own PC. This is Steambox 2.0. In one breath you keep saying youre not much of a PC gamer, but in another you say the idea of playing a PC in a box excites you?
@RaiderNation
We still dont know the extent of their integration....
It can just be same walled garden Xbox ecosystem but access to Steam games under a fixed xbox perf envelope.
(Not proper wording, something like Steam Desk -esque)
Rumor from the dude that can't even get quarter results that have already been published correct? Yeah, nah...
Since I never wanted to buy a PC but wanted to play some PC games, that’s the best news so far his year.
Should be interesting i wonder what sony would do? Could potentially lock out more games on sonys console or sony could also integrate steam in there console aswell? Maybe sony could approach EA and Rockstar on what they have integrate there platform into sonys gaming tiers?
Microsoft is so desperate. They know if they don't integrate steam, steam will have their way to Linux and possible beat windows. So many handheld and even pc now supports steam for Linux
I'm truly glad that Xbox is trying to become PC. Soon I can get Microsoft Word on Xbox along with Zoom.
Gamepass didn’t save Xbox, acquisitions didn’t save Xbox. So now the hope is Steam will save it? Heh
