Remember when games were fun and entertaining and not just pretty graphics? That might have something to do with it.

blackblades350d ago (Edited 350d ago )

Yeah, that's one thing thats wrong in the industry today outta many things. Heard someone on here on the Lego horizon game saying its a kiddie game same for astro and they'll pass on them. Like these games are fun they might appeal to kids more but they are fun for all ages. Theres a reason why Nintendo games sell better its because they are fun and thats what Nintendo is known for. I feel people forget to have fun but instead play consoles wars and graphic wars. They are a lot of indie games that are fun just like Nintendo games but people pass because how it looks etc.

Jin_Sakai350d ago (Edited 350d ago )

Nintendo usually focuses on making fun games that also happen to look good or have great art styles. Astro Bot on PS5 is a breath of fresh air in an industry ruled by GaaS garbage. Good platformers are rare these days.

And I’m sure I’m in the minority but I think Lego Horizon Adventures looks more fun than the actual mainline Horizon games. 🤷‍♂️

Notellin349d ago

The Lego games aren't any fun to me as they have copied and pasted the formula for 20 years but I do enjoy a good platformer that brings back the golden age of gaming.

jwillj2k4349d ago

Lego games suck. They are incredibly boring and confusing.

Only kids under 10 and hardcore Lego fans like Lego games..
I think Guerrilla totally lost it to make such games. They could have outsourced the project and given us something more serious..
No matter how it turns, people will buy.

badz149349d ago

@cacabunga

Guerrilla is not developing the game. It's a licensed LEGO game using the Horizon IP but Sony and Guerrilla are not making it.

NotoriousWhiz349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

I agree. Every lego game feels exactly the same. And some of the "puzzles" are incredibly obtuse. Hard pass. I'll take the real deal over lego. That said, my kids are into the lego games, so they'll probably have me play with them until I start drifting off to sleep.

Einhander1972350d ago

The graphics are so overrated. So much of the graphical budget just went to rocks and other lifeless backgrounds at sub 1080p and 30fps.

You look at Horizon:FW and birds are flying around animals are running around everywhere while you fight packs of robot-animals and it's all at 60FPS and 1440p+. I don't care what anyone says HFW looks better and plays much better. And it's a whole open world not just little scenes covered in darkness to they can maintain framerate's by not having to process anything distant.

And the game has a nothiness story because the first game didn't need a sequel. So, HB2 just seems forced, which is exactly what it was. HB1 was tied to Sony, so Microsoft just wanted to steal a sequel to not put on PlayStation. That's the only reason HB2 exists, so Microsoft could have a game with ties to PlayStation they could keep off PlayStation, simply the most petty of possible reasons. And it shows.

blackblades349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

That's what I said, the Lego horizon looks fun more then the OG. Not to say the OG isnt fun but its just I dont have the engagement idk what words to put it. I know returnal and other house marq games and isomniac games had that feeling of fun and engagement

badz149349d ago

I spent almost 150 hours on the HZD + Frozen wilds so I don't really get what you're saying. The reason I still have yet to sink more time into Forbidden West is because I still want to 100% the Frozen Wild trophies and I have been loving the time I spent with the game.

raWfodog349d ago

@badz
I think you'll love Forbidden West and Burning Shores as it just improved on a lot of things in HZD and Frozen Wild. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely enjoyed HZD and Frozen Wild, but HFW and Burning Shores was the icing on the cake. I hope they keep up the momentum for the next game.

Profchaos349d ago

Agree I recently replayed earthbound and fell in love with it again it's a basic looking SNES game but the gameplay and charm just gets me and really reminds me games are not about pushing pixels they should be fun and if they can also bring Joy that's great.

There's far to many games dealing with dark and dreary overly emotional depressing games like hellblade 2 that barely let you play the game.

I want fun more than anything these days

Sonic1881349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

Or it's been a walking simulator majority of the time might have something to do with it as well. The user review scores on metacritic.com mentions that as well

TheEroica349d ago

So silly... The game was released on gamepass to millions of people... Use the math side of your brain and not the fanboy side.

Einhander1972349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

Nearly 90% of Xbox players ----->who have started Hellblade 2<---- haven't made it through the action-adventure game's short seven-hour runtime to complete its story.

An Amazing Number of Players Have Marvel's Spider-Man 2's Platinum Trophy
https://www.pushsquare.com/...

According to current Trophy data, 20.3 per cent of players have earned the sequel's Platinum gong.

Over half of players have completed the main story — 58 per cent to be precise — which, again, is unusually high, but for a fifth of all players to stick around and complete all the districts and side content too is pretty astounding.

Still, a 20 per cent rate for the Plat is ridiculously high. As far as we can tell, the next highest first-party Platinum rate is for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which is currently at 12 per cent.

Most Sony exclusives have had a higher than industry average of 15-20 percent of their players complete the game both God of War's, Ghost of Tsushima and all three Spider-Man games as well as both Horizon games have fallen into this bracket, and they are much longer than 6 hours.

Edit: oh and btw HB2 wasn't even that popular on xbox, the game peaked at something like 23 most popular game

Hellblade 2 is only a 6 hour game. No excuses 😂

Chevalier349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

Millions of gamers not playing the game. How are you arguing FACTS?! Lol.

10 million people could have downloaded it. That would mean only 1 million of that completed it. Do you even know MATH?!

MajorLazer349d ago

When your story can be completed in one sitting and nearly 90% still didn't complete it, it doesn't bode very well.

Rynxie349d ago

No sh*t, they all keep falling asleep

babadivad349d ago

I'm taking my time with it. I know it's a short game and all. I've been playing it at a half hour to an hour at a time before I go to sleep. I work pretty early so I can't spend all night playing. I think I'm pretty close to the end.

MrBaskerville349d ago

Goes surprisingly fast after the second giant.

RonsonPL349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

Was about to say that. It's almost as if people got bored with nice visuals and didn't find the game fun enough to continue.
The times we live in are sad compared to the golden era I was lucky to experience 30 years ago. Games were fun and were made to be played, not watched. Now all the big publishers and console manufacturers seem to be only able to discern two game genres. Multiplayer focused online game and story driven single player games.
Where are gameplay driven games?

I have more fun in VR while playing small indie games than I do playing big "story driven" AAA flat games.
To each of their own, but for me, fun and gameplay are the most important. Then amazing visuals. And then music and sound design. And then maybe humor and only on the last place - the story. I can get good story cheaper and more convenient. This is what books and movies do better. Especially with that stupid trend to pursue realism in visuals. One more hardware generation and it will basically be a movie rendered in real time. For 70€ and with "gameplay" instead of gameplay. And then those same clueless idiots will survey young gamers and conclude they only want competetive online multiplayer games.
I mean, I played River Raid the first time and within seconds I knew I want to play games.
A guy who never played anything besides multiplayer games, will check one of those interactive movies and walk away, seeing nothing interesting in it. For us, veteran gamers, visuals may be impressive cause we know the limitations. But for some newcomer? They have no idea about the CPU or GPU limitations. They will just see a weird looking "movie" with boring and lacking gameplay design and mechanics.

I'd like to say Nintendo will keep supplying good, big budget games focused on gameplay, but Nintendo is just a name of a corporation. When the old staff leaves...
Anyway. I sure hope Mario Kart 10 won't have any stupid career mode with 300 minutes of cut-scenes in it.

CobraKai349d ago

Usually games like that are launch games. Designed to showcase what a system can do. I’d honestly love to play HB2 but the digital only release blows.

Jingsing349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

I suspect Game Pass has something to do with this also. Being less financially invested in a product is a sure route to not caring enough to complete it. Also indicative of the audience that occupies Xbox, they bought the wrong studio for their platform. Which again will hurt Xbox.

jznrpg349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

Plenty of fun games out there but this isn’t one of them

Good-Smurf349d ago

By this day and age where even one-person indie dev can make stunning looking game.
It's time for them to re-examine and sorting out their priorities they could easily have the best of both worlds nowadays but nope still obsesses over at chasing photo-realism spent years over that just for one game and they lose the ability to make fun interactive and entertaining games.

lelo2play348d ago (Edited 348d ago )

The stupidity of the people present on this thread is absurd... trolling simply because this is a Microsoft game.

I just have to say this...
"Video games are enjoyed by millions of people around the world. The one thing that most of these gamers have in common is the failure to finish games. Industry experts estimate that a new game will only be completed by 10 to 20 percent of its players."
https://eu.indeonline.com/s...

(do trolls realize that their favourite games from their favourite plastic box are only completed by 10-20% of players)

Next month Microsoft disappointed in sales of hellblade 2 blames players

Eonjay349d ago

Even then it's still a head scratcher because it's really quite short. I think its just lacking severly in gameplay. Its a sometime pretty art piece... sure

GamerRN349d ago

Looks like just PlayStation his have 80 percent or more who never finished them... Speaks more about the state of games these days...

babadivad349d ago

You'll be surprised by the percentage of ALL players who never finish games. I remember seeing an article about the shockingly high percentage of people who never finished Spider Man 2.

P_Bomb349d ago

Spidey 2 has a 56% completion rate. That’s actually ridiculously high for a game.

MrNinosan348d ago

That article is wrong then as Spider-Man 2 is one of the games with highest completion rate, even highest Platinum rate.

Relientk77350d ago

"Diving deeper into the stats, we can see that only 52% of Hellblade 2 Xbox players made it past the first boss and unlocked The Next Sign achievement. You encounter Hellblade 2's first boss after about 30 minutes"

90% of players didn't beat the story and only about half beat the first boss. This is just baffling to me when you take into account how short the game is. Just, wow

outsider1624349d ago

Wow! Atleast i finished The Order 1886..lol.

Relientk77349d ago

I picked up The Order 1886 for $20 and played it around Halloween. It was good and I enjoyed it, but yeah not perfect by any means. The visuals were nuts.

Profchaos349d ago

In actually just picked up the order last month and man did it's time it was not judged fairly game is amazing

Einhander1972349d ago

Yeah, that game was legitimately good and the story was going places plus the setting was fantastic.

And it was a really early gen game too, not like HB2 which is a mid gen game.

Ironmike349d ago

So what do u own an xbox if not mind ur own

Rynxie349d ago

@ironmike

Lol, what a typical hurt Xbox fangirl response.

Skuletor348d ago

You know the game's available on PC, right?

porkChop349d ago

The crazy thing is this isn't even new. This has been a growing issue since gen 7. There have been countless great games where if you look at the trophy/achievement data only like 30% or less of players actually finish any games they play. It's kind of insane. I can sort of understand with open world games where player fatigue kicks in, but plenty of linear games like this never get finished. It's like players start games and then just move on to the next thing a week later.

Scissorman349d ago

While this is true for a lot of games, it's even worse when you consider how long Hellblade 2 is. I understand if a game is 20+ hours and you move on to something else a week later. But this game doesn't take a week to complete, it takes a handful of hours.

porkChop349d ago

Agreed. Hellblade 2 isn't some extended experience. It can be beat in just a couple of nights.

Skuletor348d ago

A growing issue since Gen 7? It's probably not much different than before achievements/trophies started getting recorded tbh.

porkChop348d ago

@Skuletor

I mean that it seems like the percentages have been getting lower over time since we've been able to track them.

HansyJ349d ago

Not baffling when you touch the game and realize it’s just a big cut scene. It’s not fun and it sucks so makes sense.

Amplitude349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

It's not that baffling. GamePass lets people pretty instantly click A on a game to start playing it, look at the graphics, say "whoa that's cool" and then go back to whatever multiplayer nonsense they usually play. You don't even need to download the game, you can just stream it for a sec. These numbers are a bit meaningless.

I do think being on GamePass was a major nail in HellBlade 2's coffin. Games on subscription services feel inherently valueless and I personally can never get into them.

DarXyde349d ago

This is the audience Microsoft has cultivated on Xbox.

I don't blame them for trying with acquiring Ninja Theory, but at this point, it's difficult to dispute that this is too little, too late.

You can't finish the game.. there is no "gameplay".

The funny thing is that the main character trained (in real life) for 2 years to fight with a sword, in a game where there is almost no fighting.

Ironmike349d ago

U must be playing a different game oh wait minute u haven't even played this game gotcha

Reaper: “Whilst Hellblade II is coming to PS5, Starfield and Halo will NEVER be released on PlayStation.”

neutralgamer19922d ago

All Xbox games will come to Playstation, pc and if switch 2 can handle it will be on there too. This is best for gamers. Play the games on the platform of your choice.

Play on Xbox and pc with GP
Play on PS paying full price same for Nintendo

MS get the best of both markets

Wh1teLightning2d ago

As much as I wish that were true I’m afraid it’s only a matter of time.

Babadook72d ago

Starfield could come yet. Halo probably wont come, at least not for many years.

darthv722d ago

Starfield i can most definitely say will come. Because it was in talks with Sony before the buyout. Halo... maybe not. unless MS can ink a deal with Bungie to take over the series and then by virtue of being owned by Sony then it will come.

As for this game, all i can say is the graphics were stunning on the SX... I can only imagine they will be even crisper on the 5Pro.

CrimsonWing692d ago

I’ll take that bet. How much we wanna put down that those DO come out on PS5?

I think Xbox is in such a position that they want their console to be essentially a Gamepass machine, which, sure that would be far affordable for many. Whereas, PS5 you pay the full price for their Xbox releases. I don’t think they benefit from holding back certain releases, assuming that’s their angle.

Fist4achin2d ago

It's not about brand and fans anymore. It's about money and profits. Future Xbox consoles will be more like Steam Decks. Physical media is disappearing and digital is taking over.

Obscure_Observer2d ago

@neutralgamer1992

"Play on Xbox and pc with GP

PERFECT!!!

Cacabunga2d ago

Still not buying this boring game

Petebloodyonion2d ago

Fail to see what the problem is with them coming to PS5.
In fact I can actually laugh at all of the ppl who used to say Xbox has no games yet are happy about Gears Remasters, Forza5, Sea of Thieves, Grounded, etc.
In the end good game deserved to be played

I wouldn't be surprised if Dreamcast Guy re-reviews Hellblade 2 on PS5, and now gives it a 9/10 score

Toncsipapa2d ago

Why do you think that? Xbox is changed now. Now it's all about releasing most of the games on playstation. Geara is coming to ps5. Gears was the xbox brands biggest game with halo and Forza. And two of them are already there or on the way. I own both consoles and I do think this is good for us. The more they sell the better games we get in the future. And if the rumors are true the next gen xbox will play steam games so it will play ps5 ( pc release games) and that will be good for us. More new ip and less remake and re releases hopefully.

Profchaos2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Hahahahaha very funny

PlayStation has gears and Forza that's two of the major pillars of Xbox halo is just another Domino and I hope starfield doesn't come it wasn't very good

derek1d 17h ago

They're all coming Philip Bartholomew Spencer has essentially said so as his bosses told him to say. I dont care about Hellblade 2 always looked like you're walking on rails. Gears remake will be a day 1 game for me.

StormSnooper1d 15h ago (Edited 1d 15h ago )

MS is forced to release its games on the competition. I feel bad for people who invested in xbox at this point.

Their next showcase will be digital because a live show might involve actual Xbox gamers’ reactions to Xbox games going to PlayStation and that would be embarrassing for MS.

1Victor1d 15h ago (Edited 1d 15h ago )

@venom:” will NEVER be released on”

Oh that’s what sega fanboys said about sonic the hedgehog games on Nintendo and PlayStation 🤣 🤣

crazyCoconuts1d 13h ago

IRetrouk2d ago

Well it's mostly been older releases, stuff that's already been on ps and a couple remasters/remakes, I'm talking about future halos, gears, forzas....

Eonjay2d ago

@IRetrouk okay I see what you are saying. I honestly think they just had to ramp up their PS5 development kits and what not. It is in Microsoft's best interest to release on PlayStation day and date to maximize hype for new titles so I am sure you are right.

IRetrouk2d ago

I also get your point lol, kinda just cements what's happing really, and agree, I'm sure some ramping up was needed, especially after cancelling or "holding" dev on some ps5 versions of games.

Obscure_Observer2d ago

"They are already doing day and date releases... For example, Doom, Gears Reloaded, Outer Worlds 2, Call of Duty..."

Indeed.

The fact they´re also going full digital with the upcoming Xbox Showcase, is further indication that more day and date games announces for every platform might happen.

Petebloodyonion2d ago

@IRetrouk
Why wouldn't they release new multiplayer games like Gears, Halo, and Forza day 1 on PS5?
Xbox users get to have the PC/Version included in the purchase, plus the possibility to play it on Game Pass
So there's more benefit as an Xbox user (especially Game Pass).
It brings more money to MS and more players for the health of the game.

IRetrouk2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

@pete not sure i understand the question, I wasn't stating if they should or shouldnt do it or if it is good or bad, just that it was happening, but for the record, I've been saying for years ms should go this route🤷‍♂️
I'm not sure how ms releasing games multiplat helps benefit xbox users more, you get the same if they were exclusive or not, your right about the money and player base though, it is a good thing.

Look no further than the latest´s games sales data!

Xbox first party games sales destroyed everything at Playstation last month!

FIVE games in the Top 10 best selling games!

https://bsky.app/profile/di...

Now ask me if I`m unhappy to see Xbox games thriving as Playstation´s gamers favorite games this year?

We used to hear that Xbox games were all trash! So obviously I´m very happy that those opinions do not reflect the opinion of actual Playstation gamers that actually BUY and PLAY games!

IRetrouk2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Yeah, they are doing great, destroyed everything at playstation? Lmao, those are at playstation, just like those other 3rd party games they outsold...

We already know how you feel about this🤣 all you did was change your opinion as soon as phil told you too lol
The years not over yet, favourite games of the year is again, probably giving way too much credit to those sales charts you now love, we got plenty of games coming from all over yet.
Like it or not for over a decade xbox releases were either bad, severely lacking or just more of the same with little innovation, the quality ones selling isn't surprising, I'd say gears is gonna do a couple mill easy, real question is, why it took releasing them on playstation to see these games chart🤔

Profchaos1d 19h ago

They didn't destroy anything at PlayStation they destroyed on PlayStation huge difference

Sony and Microsoft both making money

derek1d 17h ago

Let's not rewrite history here, most of those games were already being made by third parties (going to be on playstation anyways) before Microsoft bought them in the last 4 years. It's games that Microsoft was producing before they bought 2 giant publishers that mostly sucked, you know it and I know it.

StormSnooper1d 14h ago

@obscure
Now it’s great that xbox games are playable on PlayStation? You fought tooth and nail that their games would never be on PlayStation. Now you say it’s amazing?

To be clear, PlayStation gamers are the winner here. They get to play the games. MS makes money, but at the expense of losing relevance and trust.

Obscure_Observer1d 9h ago

@StormSnooper

"To be clear, PlayStation gamers are the winner here. They get to play the games. MS makes money, but at the expense of losing relevance and trust."

They have to pay full price for those games while we´ll be getting everything day one on Gamepass. Works for me.

We get to play MORE and better games for cheap since Xbox games selling like hot cakes on all platforms will only fund or games on Gamepass making it bigger and better. Oblivion Remake, Clair Obscure, Doom The Dark Ages along with Metaphor which just dropped on Gamepass out of nowhere.

All of those AMAZING games in what? 40 Days?

I much rather play all those games on Gamepass while saving big money for my next gen Xbox. I don´t care for Sony´s GaaS crap and the only game which interest me on PS5 at the moment is Intergalactic which is not reason enough for me to go out and buy a PS5.

So you can keep your "trust" in Sony while you pay full $80 for everything to make them feel relevant or whatever.

I rather stick with Xbox, thank you. To each their own.

Maybe Sunset Overdrive or Quantum Break

darthv722d ago

I don't think Remedy want to revisit QB anytime soon... and it's a shame too as playing it at 60fps is a much needed improvement. Same with Ryse and SSOD. I play all those on my steamdeck in better performance.

SSOD would be welcomed with open arms and probably give the much needed shot to green light the sequel that has been on hiatus for so long.

Petebloodyonion2d ago

I would expect a Rare Replay compilation for Switch before PlayStation.
Quantum Break will probably never happen due to numerous reasons, like licensing deals for the actors
But Sunset Overdrive would be a perfect fit for PlayStation.

Enhanced as in, enhanced with more gameplay time/segments?

ocelot072d ago

PS5 Pro Enhance and also has things like haptic feedback support.

Tacoboto2d ago

Horde mode! Endless waves of... 1 enemy at a time.

I don't get the point of announcing it this way. It's not like word of mouth was near as good as the first game so revealing the port as an Enhanced version without detailing a single Enhancement is certainly a choice.

Being able to apply a visual filter while playing I guess would be nice but I can't think of one thing that would make me actually want to play through it again any time soon. Unless there's like a new chapter where we can fight 2-3 enemies at once lol

monkey6022d ago

I'm only surprised this took so long. I actually haven't gotten around to playing it yet but despite my hype before launch I'm unlikely to buy it now because I got put off so much with friends feedback

ocelot072d ago

I my self who didn't play the first one. I had it completed within 5 and a bit hours of play. Graphics, animations, voice acting is fine. Puzzles where good. The combat was very basic.

Couldn't get on with the story what so ever. The constant voices was really off putting to the point half way through the game I turned off the combat so I could just get the game over and done with quickly.

If you enjoyed the first game. You should enjoy this. If you never played the first one like my self. Then it could be a terrible experience or you may enjoy it.

Kyizen2d ago

Play the first, graphics are a step down but still great, game wise it is a much much better game. (Puzzles are meh still though) but if you though 2 was good or okay, part one is fantastic.

I enjoyed the first and enjoyed this one too.
I played it on PC with a 3080 and the graphics are jaw dropping. I don't know what it's listing for but given how short it is I don't think it's worth more than $25 though

Xbox + Steam = Instant Buy!

Day One!!!

OtterX3d ago

I already have one. It can do mods and VR too... it's called my PC.

VenomUK3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Now Xbox players who’ve been dying to play PlayStation games will choose to play Spider-Man, The Last of Us and God of War. Horizon: Zero Dawn - not so much.

Sonic18813d ago (Edited 3d ago )

@Venom

It's being claimed Sony can block their games from being available on Microsoft's hybrid console/PC that will have Steam on it. I saw it on Twitter by a well known source

Profchaos3d ago

It's Xbox PC app not console think of it like the current gog app

Obscure_Observer3d ago

Even if in a limited fashion, It will allow integration with Steam so Xbox console gamers will get access to their Steam library and get to play some PC only games, which is awesome news for console only player like myself.

crazyCoconuts3d ago

Yes, they'll be able to play PC only games because.... they will have bought a PC

Eonjay3d ago

@Obscure_Observer

I don't think that is going to happen. It sounds like you think PC games are coming to Xbox. What this is is just bring PC to.... PC.

crazyCoconuts3d ago

Well IF they can get the emulator to work, bringing Xbox to PC. Whether or not you call this Windows dressing a console is debatable. This will definitely get them out of the console business though

Obscure_Observer3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

"Yes, they'll be able to play PC only games because.... they will have bought a PC"

Being hearing such clueless talk since 2001 when the original Xbox introduced hard drive and broadband internet to consoles.

Some people will just hate and fear what they can´t comprehend.

@Eonjay

"I don't think that is going to happen. It sounds like you think PC games are coming to Xbox. What this is is just bring PC to.... PC."

Then why spend so much money to make Xbox consoles a part of the equation? Seriously dude, your comment doesn't even make sense and defies any reasonable logic..

IRetrouk2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Microsoft did not introduce broadband or harddrive use in consoles, they did standardise it though.
As for the rest, you had the same response to ms becoming a 3rd party publisher....didn't believe it untill ms told you to, didn't like it till ms told you to...
You won't be getting steam on a console ecosystem, stop dreaming, infact the next console is up in the air, you'll be lucky to get an oem arm device at best and at worst, a pc with an xbox sticker....
Told you already, they moving you hardcore xbox boys to pc...
You talking about logic is funny, especially when all you do is parrot what you hear from ms and pivot your opinion as much as they pivot their messaging to align with what they say, just buy a pc bro, it'll be easier for you going forward.

@obscured: “ Xbox + Steam = Instant Buy!

Day One!!! “
.
Is there anything Xbox that isn’t day one for you?
Is your Xbox fridge working for you or frozen up with a red ring I remember you was going to get it day one.
Having steam integrated on the next market is a nice thing to have that would had been better a generation ago but better late than never 🤷🏿
Personally I will ALWAYS BUY A SYSTEM FOR THE GAMES NOT A STORE FRONT 🤦🏿

badz1493d ago (Edited 3d ago )

believe it or not, many pc gamers boycott games based on the storefronts. Steam or no buy according to many of them

Eonjay3d ago

I honestly don't get the point of this. There is already a Steam Store on PC so adding it to the MS store seems redundant. Also this doesn't really mention Xbox.

Profchaos3d ago

This is just a simple integration on the Xbox app for PC to see both libraries at the same time gog already offers this.

In the future the next box will not run Xbox software but instead it will Run uwp apps to unify PC and console.

It presents a number of problems like the steamdeck verification system and requiring a wrapper for third parties but it means you don't have to Dev for a console anymore and just Dev for PC

Means that backwards compatibility has to be offered via a translation layer like wine to and full BC is not a given.

It's a interesting take but I see it only working short term like steam deck getting a steam deck verified game is getting harder and the system is only a few years old

Sonic18812d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Sounds more like a PC with the Xbox and steam logo on it 😂 I'm sure it's going to be expensive as well since it's rumor to be using the ARM architecture technology

No need for me to buy an Xbox anymore, last one i owned was 360 anyway. That and the original were good consoles. Everything is on PC now and I usually keep mine fairly modern so it's always going to outperform it, and I like to mess with apps and programs that you can't do on console so..

MrDead4d ago

We already have xbox games integration, it's called Steam.

MS store is like Bing, no one wants it.

babadivad3d ago

Xbox store is more flexible than Steamnif you own a console. Cross saves and cross buy is amazing.

If a game is on the Xbox store and Steam, given the choice, I buy the Xbox store version.

If a game I want gets released, I always check the Xbox store first.

MrDead3d ago

"If a game is on the Xbox store and Steam, given the choice, I buy the Xbox store version."

Found the Bing user.

babadivad3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

@MrDead

Found the moron who likes to pay twice for the same game.

babadivad2d ago

This site is so retarded. There's literally no downside for buying on the PC xbox store if you have a console.

If the game released on the PC Xbox store, if you buy it there, you get the game for free on console.

And you share the same save file.

If I buy the game on Steam, if I wanted to play that game on console, I would have to buy it again.

I get it, because it's Xbox/Microsoft, it's automatically bad.

It's only a benefit to check if a game released on the Xbox store.

darthv723d ago

......what's wrong with Bing? Its good to use it to get points towards stuff like movie tickets, xbox gift cards, etc.

UnbreakableAlex3d ago

People like me who don’t own a PC but want to play PC games.

babadivad3d ago

Or PC players who have an Xbox. Like me.

Eonjay3d ago

That isn't what this is. I would really like to know where the misinformation is coming from.

Maybe the next Xbox is a PC with an Xbox app that boots up when you turn it on but allows you to run PC apps and Xbox games will be converted to a version playable on PCs as well... but don't expect PC games to come to Xbox consoles.

I imagine they will let you download an app that allows you to play your Xbox games on PC. But you will still be able to download from Steam because it is a PC.

Christopher3d ago

This isn't going to turn PC games into console games. It's not even going to change how Steam changes at all since no third-party is going to want to give you a PC and console copy of a game for the same price without someone paying for it.

1Victor3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

@terry: “ .who asked for this?”

Refer to post one that couldn’t wait for this amazing killer app that will entice all Nintendo, Sony and PC gamers to buy the next generation of Xbox console 🤣
Edited for typos

Terry_B2d ago

That one can't be taken serious.

ocelot073d ago

Makes sense doesn't it? If we are going to have Dell Alienware Xbox's and HP Xbox and Lenovo Xbox and Asus TuF Gaming Xbox PC's. A console like PC with a limited/customised windows with console form in mind.

Extermin8or3_3d ago

They'll come with pc hardware prices though...

ocelot073d ago

Most likely but unfortunately that's just the way the world is now. Nintendo charging $500+ for a handheld that's roughly as powerful as a PS4 pro from 2016.

Sony charging $700 for a PS5 Pro.

Microsoft charging $730 for a 5 year old console with a extra 1tb of storage.

Apple charging $800 for the cheapest iPhone 16.

Samsung charging $800 for the basic s25.
