Why?
Cause its a 2nd party project and not developed in-house @ Guerilla exclusively?
Probably SGF's PS reveal.

FPSRUSSIA330d ago

i heard it will be at summer game fast tomorrow well have to wait and see if this is rumour is true.

Cacabunga330d ago

Guerrilla games making this!? 🤦🏻

VenomUK330d ago

Add this is a Lego game why not release it on all formats? Nintendo Switch and Xbox owners might get exposure to this franchise and think they would like to play the mainline games on PlayStation.

DarXyde329d ago

VenomUK,

I don't really think that makes much difference, honestly.

I tend to think that Nintendo gamers often pair their Switch with a PC. I don't know how often "often" really is, but I don't think it's infrequent. Or perhaps it's the other way around where PC gamers often pair with Nintendo consoles. Either way, if you've got a PC, you're probably not getting this on Switch. It's not a perfect overlap, but I don't see a world where a game that is not exclusive to the Switch gets any notable sales on Switch.

Xbox gamers, I would think have gotten into a mindset of complacency, and will very likely wait until it hits game pass; Sony's IP with the Lego license on Game Pass doesn't sound particularly lucrative.

They might do it, but I'm really wondering what the point would be.

Eonjay330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

It's probably not even published by Sony. I bet it's published by Warner Brothers using a license from SIE.

Edit: the articles states that according to the source Sony IS the publisher which would explain why it's not on Xbox if any of this is true.

Christopher330d ago

Very unlikely Sony would be doing in-house development on a LEGO game considering the studios already licensed to do them.

neutralgamer1992330d ago

Good it should be played by more gamers. Horizon franchise needs more spotlight. And as an adult Lego games are fun

Here we go again, with another foolish article, trying to allude that Sony lied about their first party titles coming day and date on PC. I guess this person doesn’t realize that Sony doesn’t own “The Lego Group” & the TLG doesn’t own the Horizon IP.

It’s crystal clear that’s it’s a collaboration between Sony & TLG, hence why it’s coming day & date on PC.

Neonridr330d ago

did you even read the article before you made that ridiculous comment? The only person bringing that up is you.

Tacoboto330d ago

That N4G redesign really needs some kind of tag on comments showing if that user actually clicked the article.

Gamerscore2077330d ago

I did read the article & my comment was referring to this statement:

“ the rumored LEGO Horizon Adventures will be released day one on both PS5 and PC. It will therefore not be a staggered release like the single-player first-party PlayStation titles.”

If you read the article, you would’ve known that.

Tacoboto330d ago

What is factually inaccurate, or a slight to Sony, about that quote in the article you only read after getting called out?

rippermcrip330d ago

Your response below is even more nonsensical. The quote you provided from the article literally explains why the releases will be at the same time... so how are they alluding that Sony lied?

Hedstrom330d ago

Do PC players buy lego games? Feels like a very console audience game

Software_Lover330d ago

I own quite a few Lego games on Steam

Hedstrom328d ago

Nice to hear, i just have a perception of it as a couch focused games!

anast330d ago

Actually, yeah, these kinds of games do well on PC.

Angyobangyo329d ago

Yes. Why would you think otherwise?

Hedstrom328d ago

I think my perception of the Lego games are a younger audience and a couch experience. But glad to see im wrong.

Tacoboto330d ago

Rather than play the console war game about exclusivity, here's a better question...

Why would this game exist and is there even a market for it?

I platinumed Forbidden West, beat Burning Shores, over 100 hours in that full game. The next Horizon thing I want is 3, not a Remake of Zero Dawn and certainly not a cutesy-haha retelling of a game franchise only two games deep so soon.

Redemption-64330d ago

There is a market for Leo games. They clearly saw something in order to license the IP from Sony to make this game

phoenixwing330d ago

Kids like dinosaurs it's basically Lego dinos. They probably feel they can sell enough to kids off of that and some residual popularity with the actual series

Tacoboto330d ago

I don't disagree but it feels off/forced. It's a Teen rated franchise and they made only one Lego kit, which is part of Lego's for-adults branding.

Jumping to Lego video game for kids from there seems like quite a leap to take for the next "thing" in the Horizon universe. A marketing decision or something decided by committee as opposed to reading what fans of the franchise want.

phoenixwing330d ago

@taco I'm not saying it's what fans want but it will sell because dinos so Lego company asked to license it. Kids will eat it up

Tacoboto330d ago

I suppose we'll see. Again I don't disagree, and what confuses me too - the Switch demographic would lap this up but this obviously won't go there.

At the least, if we're really getting this game, I want a Horus Lego set.

Michiel1989330d ago

Lego games are a blast, at least the ones I played. This isn't a replacement for Horizon 3 or any-thing, it worked great for star wars/lotr so why not for Horizon

darthv72330d ago

usually, the games are released in response to the popularity of the kits that people buy and build. so far there has been only one lego horizon set, but perhaps they will announce more at the same time as this game...?

Hotpot329d ago

yeah this is definitely the weird thing about it, the tallneck lego set is the ONLY lego set from Horizon IP. Granted, it was quite popular when it first came out, but committing a game with only an old set that I'm not sure still available isn't usually how lego games operate.

Any lego game is usually made alongside some lego sets though so probably there will be a bunch of sets announced with the game.

I’m curious to see how this is. I love Horizon, but it’s not a huge property in terms of cultural awareness. Also the Lego games tend to be a light hearted somewhat satirical take on the IPs they do, and I’m not sure how much Horizon really lends itself to that. Gameplay wise I can see it in terms of Lego bits flying off of the robots and such. I’m sure it will fun.

Most Disappointing Game of 2024

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "In a year that was to a large extent carried by the game developers of Japan (and to some extent China), western games can rejoice that there was at least one category they managed to dominate: that of Most Disappointing. Sometimes disappointment comes from high expectations met with something middling, other times it comes from middling expectations met with something terrible. This year managed to deliver a bit of both, so either way there was enough disappointment to go around."

Why not mention the 19,000 Steam games of which 80% weren't good enough to merit "success" on the platform?

RaidenBlack105d ago

You gotta be effing kidding me with that logic.

coolbeans105d ago

Because the very *definition* of disappointment requires one has some kind of expectation for it. Concord was hoping to find its own niche in the crowded 'hero shooter' market, with ~8 years of development, $100 million+ funding, and marketable talent behind it, and went belly up in 2 lousy weeks. That's historical for a live-service game.

thorstein105d ago

It's become a drinking game at this point. Disappointing games? It's the same games in every article with a similar title. Does no one have an original thought anymore?

RaidenBlack105d ago

@thorstein
**It's the same games in every article with a similar title.**
Because it's the same year? The games that got launched is a constant fact for everyone. And if the game was universally disappointing, then obviously everyone would echo the same thing.
Do you want for originality some writer would write up that instead of Concord and Outlaws, Silent Hills 2 was the most disappointing game, right? Coz, that'd be considered a click-bait article then.
And emphasis on the word "disappointing" games, not general bad games.

LordoftheCritics105d ago

Veilguard was easily the most disappointing game of the year.
Highest expectation with Highest disappointment

Concord was just the biggest failure.
In fact it was not very disappointing.
Almost as expected.

DivineHand125105d ago

@LordoftheCritics I disagree about Vailguard being the most disappointing game of the year. Going into the launch of that game, 90% of the comments I was seeing from this community were negative. Many also wanted the game to fail.

In my opinion, for a game to be disappointing, it would mean the game was highly anticipated for success going into the launch of the game only to bomb in the reviews and fail commercially.

I would say Hellblade 2 claims this title. I haven't played any of the games in the series as yet, however, the hate that game received was on another level. I am not sure if it was fanboys that felt threatened by it being the best-looking console game on the market or if the criticisms about it being a boring game were valid. I haven't played these walking games before so put it off since it doesn't seem to be my cup of tea.

Those 19,000 games have 80%. Dragon age is sitting at 70%, Star wars is at 75% and falling, Lego Horizon adventures is at 56%, Skull and Bones 65% and Concord was DOA. This would mean these games didn't even crack the top 19,000.

LEGO Horizon Adventures (PS5) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "The overarching issue with LEGO Horizon Adventures can be interrogated with its own title: what exciting adventures can be promised by fusing these two properties together? For the plethora of LEGO adaptations of blockbuster films that carry prominent cultural cache, the answer is immediately obvious: the fun in re-experiencing beloved franchises and moments as a playable parody. Their mechanics are simplistic, but their tacit goals are immediately clear and cohere with the young-ages fun of these toys. By lacking a sense of purpose or direction here, it feels like this developer duo couldn't be as creative with the license as they ought to have been; and, as a result, neither can you."

this game does NOT deserve a freaking 4/10... 🙄 todays gamers..... smh

coolbeans135d ago

Just to give some context for what a 4/10 score means according to the site's methodology:

"4 / 4.5 - Poor
Before investing in these sub-par games, think twice. They get a few things right, but too many obvious problems make them difficult to recommend."

Woke detected... you gave black myth wukong a 6 and yet dragon age the veilguard a 7 ???

SoloZelot90157d ago (Edited 157d ago )

Stuff like this keeps on making it clear that most sites just don't have quality standards in their reviewing process.

I've noticed that recent reviewers don't actually review the game...they just talk about it.

They need to back up their claims with evidence. So many times I see a 9 and then when I read the review there is nothing in the review that tells me it's a 9. In fact it's usually the opposite. Lots of red flags with few positives but still a glowing review.

stupidusername157d ago

I can easily see how somebody finds Wukong a 6 and Veilguard a 7 even if I personally don’t see it that way. They both have flaws that are either easily ignored or a major gripe depending on the player’s subjective opinion. Personally I found that Wukong’s story was poorly executed and that the level design was at times poor. In Veilguard I liked the combat, but the dialogue and companions were uninteresting and lacking in personality. To me Wukong is 7 and Veilguard 6.

Dragon age :Bodyguard. Hold the L

156d ago
Armaggedon156d ago

That dont mean as much as you want it to mean. Gotta love good old confirmation bias. I guess wukong is better than BG3 because it has more sales and a much more gargantuan player count. Beating things down in melee comment is my thing, but that freaking game lulled me to sleep twice. That is extremely rare.

Uh-oh! Christian nationalist detected. Hey, why don't you stop worrying about our superior Woke products and busy yourself instead with them jrpgs full of underage kids dressed in revealing outfits what you like so much? No Woke there. Just pure unadulterated Republican/Christian fun. That sounds more your scene, bud. "UwU. Nya Nya Nya!"

Stay Woke. Stay Vigilant. Anything less is to be a fascist ally and allow it to breed inferior products like 'sruli'.

jznrpg157d ago

They generally review games harshly unless they are Nintendo games

They were complaining that black meth Wukong a game with the main character being a Monkey King was not inclusive and did not have values for Dei is so damn absurd man

We play as a freaking monkey 😂 talk about female representation and inclusivity. Hopefully Trump can put an end to all this nonsense now

SimpleSlave157d ago

Oh, absolutely. The guy that wants to sleep with his own daughter is the one that's going to end Woke and DEI for sure. With those type of Christian Nationalists and Fascist values? No problem.

And I gotta say. I'm so glad you see yourself fully represented in our Sexual Abuser Criminal of a President elect. Grab 'em by the 😻, eh? Just, you know, wait until the FBI is fully closed down. Cuz they still go after people like you...

neutralgamer1992157d ago

"I don’t vote, but I can if I choose to. I consider myself a centrist, though both parties seem to have moved to the extremes of their views. Instead of focusing on policies during debates, they often get lost in distractions.

That said, let’s not pretend there’s no difference in leadership. Trump may have said controversial things, but compare that to Biden, whose presidency has overseen two wars, record-high inflation, and a struggling economy. Kamala Harris’s nomination seems to have been driven more by optics than qualifications.

The reality is, many people voted for Trump because he got things done—he created jobs, bolstered the economy, and brought results like the Israel-Palestine ceasefire even before taking office again. Yes, his words were harsh at times, but actions speak louder.

If he enforces immigration laws, reduces unnecessary abortions, and puts America back on track economically, that’s leadership. Meanwhile, Democrats need to address why they’re losing elections rather than deflect blame—they won’t win until they reconnect with what voters actually care about

Played both (well 50 hours into DA) and I'm enjoying veilguard more so what's your point?

It's a British magazine, the country that jails people for years for posting memes, I wouldn't risk criticizing anything woke with Keir Starmer as Prime Minister or you could end behind bars, it's no joke.

still enjoying DA despite suspected "paid" reviews rofl

Armaggedon156d ago

Ah yes, “paid” reviews. We have dismissed that claim

IN_ecK156d ago

25+ hours in playing DA with zero expectations and not wanting it to be anything else than its own experience. I think the game is just as good as many others in the 7-9 range of modern AA-AAA. Very much enjoying a quality game. Why look for more flaws in some vs others?

(Did change pretty much every setting before starting thou. Hardest difficulty, no UI help etc. - I read it was for the best, so can’t really say what it’s like on default)
