Rumor: Sony Spain expect to sell more PS3 in one Day than Xbox 360 Did since Launch

Rumor has it that Sony Spain are boasting they expect to sell more units of the PS3 system in one day than Microsoft has managed with the Xbox 360 since its launch.

I hate to be a realist, but I doubt that 1 out of every 4 of the people residing there will be willing to line up to get a PS3 day one. Not only that, but really, with rumors of the pitiful launch allocation in Australia, do they really expect to just have 11 some odd million PS3's just sitting around?

With the huge success Sony is being having in the US and Japan where they sold more consoles than the XBox 360 and the wii put together. Besides would think otherwise from the cheapest console on the market.

Oh, if you haven't heard, the big three each had successful holiday sales. The bright spot in Sony's financial reports didn't include the PS3, but rather the PS2. In the US, the 360 sold 1.1 million consoles during December with the Wii selling close to a million. The PS3 sold only around half that.

It wouldn't surprize me. They could probably sell 2 million in any country in the world if they had the numbers available at launch. Launches always sellout and it seems alot of countries have waited to join the next Gen so far. Bragging about Xbox's lead only means they were out first. That in itself doesn't really impress me. They will probably be first to move on to their next machine as well. And as for the 10 million lead, in case you haven't noticed that means roughly 6 billion people have had a year to get an Xbox and haven't, so again, who cares. Dont get me wrong, I'm not knocking the Xbox, I love mine, I just dont see why Fanboys make such a deal over their "Big Lead" when PS3 haven't even launched yet in a market which could potentially be one of the biggest for them and appears from all reports to be gagging for it, for lack of a better term.

Either they have sold very few 360 units in Spain, or they expect to get a whole lot of PS3s... which doesn't make much sense.
1.000.000 units at launch.
200.000 goes to the UK iirc.
800.000 units to split throughout the remaining countries.

I will go with the "sold very few 360 units in Spain" theory.

Or I could've just misunderstood and what they meant were PS3 units sold in one day in -Europe-.
Which would make the "Sony Spain" info meaningless.

January 07 NPD: Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 Sales

Nintendo Wii: 436,000

Xbox 360: 294,000

PlayStation 3: 244,000

Now I can understand the $250 dollar console outselling both. But why is $400 dollar console with "ALL THOSE TRIPLE A TITLES" only selling 50,000 more units than the $600 console that has a virtually 1 game worth buying and also had no software releases that month? They arent going to ebay anymore and Im sure their is no christmas in January. Not to mention those numbers are for North America. Im pretty sure Xbox360 was slaughtered in Japan. You combine the 2 it would appear PS3 is moving in 2 regions almost as much as Xbox360 is moving all over the world.

another thing u might want to think about is that the 360 has been our for a year and the ps3 just lanuched a few months ago, if i recall consoles usually sell the most when they first come out, and well let me think the ps3 still sold less then the 360 that has been out for a year now...
that doesn't seem to promising, the 360 is steady selling, the nintendo is on a big hype ride still!!!! and this is just more proof that the ps3 isnt doing too well in north america...
and i think everyone knows GAMR that any xbox console will never do well in Japan, u can talk about 360 loosing in Japan and xbox will always loose their, but how about Sony getting killed by Nintendo in their own territory, not to mention nintendo is just killing everyone right now

Here in UK, we have the highest and fastest number of preorders for PS3. Play.com, Woolworths, Amazon etc etc. Yes here in UK, PS3 is on course to be a winner.

I just bought a PS3. Very impressive. Anyhow, pertaining to this article, I highly doubt Spain will sell more PS3's than 360 did in one year. Logic can tell you that can't happen........actually, how many 360's where sold in Spain anyhow? I just realized I could be eating my words.
