my other article got canned, but if you skip to 11.39 on this video, it contains the same information, can't hold 30fps on either console, not all the time, but some of it,. and this is even with smaller number of pixels being rendered due to the massive black bars top and bottom for 'cinematic effect'

if they really wanted cinematic effect they would run the whole thing at 23.97fps, as thats what films run in hehehe

InUrFoxHole26d ago

Whats crazy is I haven't even noticed. This just goes to show you the technical genius that goes into these games. There are few devs that are just top notch. ND, Sony Santa Monica, turn 10, The coalition... we get so wrapped up in counting pixels and frames that we forget to just stfu and enjoy these games

Outside_ofthe_Box26d ago

I've been saying this for the longest. If you can't notice without being told, who cares? I remember when it was revealed that KZ Shadowfall used checkerboarding it was big deal. But nobody knew about it until they were told. Then MS went on with the 'true 4k' marketing for One X which didn't help much, and now everyone would gladly take the hit on resolution for higher frames. Which makes all this mudslinging about resolution gate during the beginning of last generation extremely silly. Both consoles are close in power this gen meaning that we wouldn't be able to which console is running which games better without being told. Yet people will make it to be biggest difference ever because of console war.

purple10125d ago

Yeh I totally agree it does look epic. Basically the best ever from the dev point of view

Just its what the media and Microsoft PR team say ‘we chose locked 30fps as a design choice” or whatever, it’s just a load of waffle, it’s clear they maxed out both consoles and both are struggling to maintain the 30 and that’s why they did it not from a design choice, it’s all the consoles could handle, but of course, they don’t word it like that

InUrFoxHole25d ago

@outside
Agreed. Killzone was always the best looking shooter out, along with gears to me. I dont care what they do to make a game look nice. I couldn't tell you the tech behind horizon, but I know it looks damn good lol

OptimusDK25d ago

You are really trying too hard. Relax and play some PS5 games

Sonic188126d ago (Edited 26d ago )

I know the Xbox and PC has the option to play this game in Dolby Vision if you have a compatible TV or monitor that has dolby vision build in it. That should make it look even more incredible

Petebloodyonion26d ago

The PC version asks for an RTX3080 to play the game at 1080P 60 frames sec.
that explains why they cut on consoles as the current PS5/Seriex is more like a Rtx 2070

Also, the basic rig in this video uses an RTX4060 TI

andy8526d ago (Edited 26d ago )

That requirement for 1080/60 surprises me tbh watching this video. A 3080 is comfortably more powerful than a 4060ti and this video shows 70+ with a 4060ti at 1440. At 1080 a 3080 would be 100+. My card is very close to a 4060ti so I'll give it a test myself at 1080 when I've finished the first game.

CantThinkOfAUsername26d ago

He's using DLSS Balanced which is internal 835p.

saint_seya26d ago

I dont think it needs that much, i can play the game at 4k (well not real 4k, since is DLSS Quality), with everything maxed (frame generation on) at 70-100 fps (most of the time is around 80), and i have a 3090 ti, and my processor is only a Ryzen 5 7600.

Petebloodyonion25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

LOL you say the game isn't very demanding when you play it on a 1500$ GPU?
And your CPU is on par and often better compared to Serie X and PS5.
Seems like you have quite a nice gaming rig.

andy8526d ago (Edited 26d ago )

Doesn't seem like it takes anywhere near as much as they suggested to hit 60 fps at 1080 on PC given the 1440 performance. I'll give it a test tomorrow at 1080 see what frames i get. Find it odd the series X can't do it looking at this video unless it's heavily CPU based

PhillyDonJawn26d ago

Sexy game all around.
Series S: hot fries right out the grease
Series X: hot fries salted
PC: hot salted fries extra crispy.

They can learn not to do boring games 🫢

jznrpg3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

If you go for a graphic type game you better have a great story like Heavy Rain or have some good gameplay. Can’t make a game with amazing graphics but nothing to make you want to continue playing it.

PrinceOfAnger3d ago

What good gameplay in Death stranding , Detroit , heavy rain, until dawn ? you call press X to continue " cutscenes" fun games? I am sorry these are movie games or "tech-demos" too!

But i know some like this type of games.
Maybe Hellblade is not for you?

Elda3d ago

Every game you mentioned with the exception of Until Dawn I played to the very end & enjoyed them. I can't say that about Hellblade 2. I only played 2 hours which I forced myself to & I haven't gone back to it since & that was 2 weeks ago.

MrNinosan3d ago

You obviously didn't play Death Stranding.
And even Detroit, Heavy Rain, Beyond two Souls and Until Dawn is far more gameplay than Hellblade.

mkis0073d ago

You just mentioned a goty winner...are you only able to see the surface of things. Not capable of looking deeper?

P_Bomb3d ago

All those games had more gameplay or story than Hellblade 2. I’m still in ch.4 where I stalled out of boredom.

repsahj3d ago

I platinumed Detroit because of engaging story and gameplay dude.

andy853d ago

Detroit was outstanding storywise. How can you compare that? I played through it 4 times for different story paths

isarai3d ago

Good lord u made yourself look stupid, painfully obvious you haven't played any of those games.

It's such a shame the game isn't selling too well.

jwillj2k415d ago (Edited 15d ago )

Boring + walking sim + QTE fighting = full r

Never go full r

CobraKai15d ago

I like it when devs do something different. I’d love to support every game that separates itself from the boring and tired FPSs.

My issue with H2 is that there is no physical release. Id love to play this game, but i need a physical release. If one never comes, then so be it.

babadivad15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

The story tramples over the foundations set in the first game. Senua is insane. She sees things that aren't there. Hears things that aren't there. The enemies she fights were monstrous "demons" but were they really?? Likely not. They were just men. In the old game, the voices in her head are openly antagonistic. It made you further question her sanity and her grip on reality.

In Hell Blade 2 (granted I haven't finished yet) the monsters ARE real. Everyone can see them. Gods and giants aren't just fables. They are there in the flesh threatening humanity. The voices in her head are cheerleaders now. Senua's story has taken on the "Chosen One" quasi-mary sue element.

Hellblade 2 erased the main reason Senua and her story was interesting. They butchered her.

It's been a long time since I played the original but in this game they have fully turned her father into a villain that was just "holding her back". Because of course he's just an evil man trying to hold her down. And now he's the one who led the mob that killed her mother and burned her at the stake.

Like I said before, it's been a while since I played the first game but from what I remembered, he loved his wife. She went insane like Senua and was killed. He started seeing the same signs of insanity in Senua and sequestered them away from the village to protect her from them.

If he's the one who lead the mob to burn his wife at the stake, why the fuck would he hide Senua away from the village? The puzzles are mind numbingly simple in this game too. That's secondary to the way they butchered the world they set up in the first game.

After I beat the first game, I always felt it was a mistake for Senua to have survived. She should have died at the end with her beloved like a classic Greek Tragedy. The first game was a beautiful story, the sequel ruins everything that was special about it.

Rynxie15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

I agree with everything you said, Xbox fan girls need to destroy their consoles and quit gaming.

babadivad15d ago

@Rynixe

Chill with the fanboy crap. The first time I played Hellblade was on Playstation. I obviously have an Xbox as well since I'm playing the sequel. I have had both consoles since launch. I'm giving my honest review of a video game and comparing it to its predecessor. Don't look any deeper than the words I put in my working review. I'm not a fanboy. To be honest, Playstation "fanboys" should be terrified if Microsoft really leaves the industry.

Sony with no competition is a terrible site indeed. People have the shortest memories. I have also been warning you guys about this. Microsoft leaving gaming is going to be the worst thing to happen to Playstation fans.

Ironmike15d ago

U are wrong they were real the demons the journey was real she wasn't crazy like her father said the developers have stated that the ending was her relising through her grief she couldnt bring him back no matter what and it was time to let go

Sciurus_vulgaris15d ago

The giants in the game probably aren’t real, they are a metaphor for natural disasters.

Rynxie15d ago

Baba

The fanboy crap? GTFO you clown. I didn't even bother reading your crap, you're a joke.

Wasted visuals, the game is interesting only at the 4th chapter, dumb ending
rushed and unfinished story

Iam on about first game not 2
