Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 review I PCGamer

Visually spectacular but narratively limp, this cinematic sequel fails to find a new path for Senua.

In a game like this, if the story itself isn't amazing then there is nothing to hold it up besides visuals. It's certainly not the gameplay or simple puzzles. But people will have to make their own mind if they like the story or not, but that's if they even care enough to find out.

gammaray1352d ago

after 3 hours so far in the game im finding it very boring, the graphics are good but not the best i have seen, the sound is great, the gameplay is farkin trash, i am playing on a very high end pc so no issues with framerate and graphics

repsahj51d ago

That is why they didn't release any real gameplay videos for this game, because there is no gameplay to show. XD

Sonic188152d ago

What a letdown. Now we know why Microsoft didn't advertise or market it

Only on N4G buddy.

It's currently sitting at 81(same as Stellar Blade). N4G is never a good indicator of what is real in gaming; This site is a strange conglomerate that almost seems too goofy to be true.

Just look at the logic: the game has 77 critic reviews and an overall score of 81, but here on N4G, the site is littered with 5s and 6 reviews. Generally, the low scores, which from having an 81 on Metacritic show that the overwhelming majority of reviews are positive, but looking at N4G(oofballs), you would think the opposite.

S2Killinit52d ago (Edited 52d ago )

We also got xboxhub giving it 10/10 though. And others that seem to artificially keep its score above 80. I haven’t played it so I dont know but it seems that based on what is being said about it, the low scores are more genuine.

But yes above 80 is otherwise a solid score.

I’ve also noticed that there are more comments on negative reviews rather than positive ones. It’s almost like they need confirmation bias.

Personally I’m not a big fan of Ninja Theory games. But I’m sure if people like the first game or other of their games-they will probably like this one.

VersusDMC52d ago

You can't be claiming a bias here as the same thing happened with Stellar Blade where the most commented reviews were the 7, 5 and 3.5/5.

I'm sure you made this same impassioned speech in one of those reviews as well, right?

thesoftware73052d ago

S2 is a perfect example of my first comment.

" I haven’t played it so I dont know but it seems that based on what is being said about it, the low scores are more genuine."

WTF kinda shit is that, lol.... wouldn't the larger majority be what you base your opinion on? You haven't played it on your own admission, and your brain/logic makes you think the smaller amount of negative reviews is more genuine. Why wouldn't the larger majority of all overall opinions be the basis? I swear this is the backward shit I'm talking about.

Oh please, only in your mind.
And no, I didn't give an "impassioned speech." Stellar Blade was praised on this site by 98-99 percent of its users; that would have been preaching to the quire. Besides, circle jerks aren't my thing.

MS and gamepass needs a win and as usual some well overrated the game.if this type of game was on PlayStation it would get hammered.we've seen this song and dance to many times not to remember the tune.

gammaray1352d ago

are you playing the game ? coz i am on a high end pc and trust me the game is very boring, 6/10 is all its worth

You made a judgement about stellar blade before you fully played it. How about practice what you preach?

This reminds me of the order 1886. Incredible graphics, but short game with repetitive gameplay.

anast51d ago

Those are artificial scores. The game is not an 8.

thesoftware73051d ago (Edited 51d ago )

@outside,

Wrong!! It is not the same. I played the Stellar Blade Demo(key word 'played') and said, "I" felt it was a 7-ish game. See the difference? It was something "I" played and a score "I" formulated, and the review score matched MY thoughts, lol.

I even stressed that fact in my next comment on that same post,

"Why? I did not say anything bad about this game; why the hell is everyone in defense mode? I did see some other reviews, but I played the demo, and the impression I got was a 7-ish like I said."

You tried, but yet again failed.

Sonic188151d ago

The first game got a 87 overall review score. So actually the sequel isn't as good as the first game. You would think the sequel would have been better after been in development for 7 years

Outside_ofthe_Box51d ago

Did not know the demo was the ACTUAL game?

You said to expect mixed results based off a demo just because one review aligned with your initial impression. He's saying based on what he has read, the "lower" scores seems to be more genuine.

None you guys made a definitive statement based off the final product, just specification based on your feelings.

I am PlayStation Studios game fan but please calling 81 Meta a letdown is balatant fanboyism. you might say that it's not me or doesn't suit my playstyle but shitting on 80+ meta is not cool.

OlderGamer1751d ago

When MS did the one hour before release revieuws i know there was some fishy about that, and i was right...

Don't believe this site, it probably takes money from the producers
PC gamer:
Baldurs gate pc gamer 97/100 ------ for Me:stupid turn-based game 60/100
Horizon forbidden West pc gamer says: 70/100 --------------- globally: amazing game perfect 90/100
and Hellblade 58/100 -------------------- globally great game

KwietStorm_BLM52d ago

So different opinion equals taking money. Got it. Funny as hell that Hellblade is globally great, but Baldur's Gate, which took over the whole industry, is a stupid turn based game. See how that works.

RiseNShine52d ago

Hellblade 1 ending really closed the story, so i always wondered what Hellblade 2 was going for, looks like it was going for a strange mix of cash grab and tech demo.

Nerdmaster51d ago

Although I also felt like the first game didn't need a sequel, her going after the guys who destroyed her village and killed her man makes sense.

RiseNShine51d ago

Yeah i guess that would make sense.

anast51d ago

This sums it up. And they grabbed that cash for 7 years while developing it.

Cool, but the studio will get shut down still I think. Idc if MS said they won't, MS can't be trusted with anything.

They're extremely volatile with their words and action. They say one thing and do another consistently.
