Still is not even pacing with XBone sales. Ouch.

If PS5’s were in stock that first year I think a lot less people would have settled on an Xbox and the numbers would have been worse.

It (series X) currently has a bundle in Hong Kong where it's bundled with Forza Motorsport, Dragons Dogma 2, and 3 months of Ultimate, and tbh, with the direction Xbox has been heading (focus on subscription, current/upcoming lack of must-have exclusives, now a digital-only Series X announcements, and rumours of them releasing a new, more powerful console in the near future so they can leave Series S behind (which has kinda kept developers from truly using the power of the Series X because they are pretty much forced to also make sure their games work on the far less powerful Series S), it just seems like a 'risky' deal.

Do not touch it and advise as many people as possible to avoid buying it like the plague. You are seeing the beginning of the end and it would leave a bitter taste in the mouths of the ill-informed if they spend a notable sum of money on something that has a very uncerain future.

they really have dug a large hole,

as you say, they will release a really powerful console, so they can leave the s behind, PROBLEM IS

to make it a real leap in technology, they would have to do another £500 consoler, and we know they won't sell numbers at that price,

I think they could get away with 500 bucks if they're releasing a truly impressive next-gen console, hardware-wise, and I think they would/could sell it if they're smart enough to just do a very attractive bundle, so 2 controllers plus 3-5 games. Doesn't have to be the newest games, but some quality stuff that offer a nice varied introduction.

But, knowing MS, they'll think they can just bundle it with GP Ultimate and they'll believe that will get them their sales, and sure, it will sell, but they haven't gotten it in their heads yet that there are still many gamers who are simply not into renting and subscriptions. They just want to buy and own their games, and that's all they want and need.

They need to win those gamers back, but all they have done these past few years is chase them away.

I'm not sure if Xbox wants to be in the gaming business anymore, TBH. Yeah, they have a console, and they have a subscription service for games, but it seems they barely take any pride or even interest in just creating cool new stuff anymore. It's a shame because they started so well with the original Xbox and were actually on top for a few years with the 360, and then they just completely lost their direction, suddenly going after that casual/gimmick audience with their Kinect, and they never truly came back from that, and they dug their own graves with their initial plans for the Xbox One.

They have all the potential to be on top, and yet they've been fumbling it for years now.

For a minute it seemed like they finally 'got it' when they invested big in aquiring new studios, but it seems that now they're kinda going back on all that and just want to sell a service again, while also releasing their content on competitive consoles.

The Soulja Boy console sold more.

The xbox brand is less and less relevant. To be doing worse than xbox one says a lot when you also consider that the market is larger now than it was then as well.
