VGChartz's Evan Norris: "Limited Run Games came to play at PAX East 2024. With multiple convention exclusives, a Saturday panel, and a booth featuring four signature games, the company had a lot to show off. But perhaps the most interesting of all the LRG products was Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland, an upcoming action-platformer co-developed by The MIX Games and Wallride. Built for NES hardware and coming to modern platforms this spring, it feels very much like a lost 8-bit game from the early 1990s."
WTMG's Leo Faria: "This small demo for Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland did not blow me away, but I was still plesantly surprised with what I was able to experience. It’s more than just a run-of-the-mill platformer with a licensed attached to it in order to sell more copies. It is, indeed, shaping up to become a neat little love letter to Super Mario Bros 2 / Doki Doki Panic, with an adorable and nostalgic coat of 90’s paint to boot. I would have liked to see more levels, as well as some more gameplay variety from this short demo, but I can say this was enough to, at the very least, make me look forward to playing the final build, whenever it comes out."
Games Asylum: "Surprise! A new Rugrats game has been announced ahead of PAX West. Rather than being aimed at younger gamers, Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland appears to be targeting retro enthusiasts, featuring NES-style 8-bit visuals. Well, those who played Rugrats on Game Boy Color as children will likely be in their twenties by now."
