it has to be Xbox Nintendo Switch wouldnt be able to handle this game.

Snookies1233d ago (Edited 33d ago )

It can! Bump it down to 240p, take out all particle effects, drastically reduce the textures and draw distance. And we have a winner! Lol, but yes, I'm sure Xbox is going to get it at some point. I don't see Square-Enix making this a forever exclusive. Not when they're putting so much money into FF VII Trilogy as the Sony exclusive.

Extermin8or3_33d ago

Switch 2 might be able to tbf.

VenomUK33d ago

Switch 2 will be a natural home for it.

33d ago
FinalFantasyFanatic33d ago

I can't see it being on the Switch either, look at how badly the Witcher Wild Hunt runs on it, considering FF16 is a lot newer, it would be a disaster. But the Switch 2 might be able to run it at a decent graphic/performance level.

Neonridr33d ago

it could be the Switch successor though.

Cacabunga33d ago

I see this game on ouya and not on xbox.. the brand is dying painfully

GotGame81832d ago

Switch no. Switch 2 yes. It's coming sooner than later.

Philaroni32d ago

At the same quality no, for the Switch I mean. Though we seen some 'impossible' ports in the past too it. The hard part is it uses Nvidia tech.. to be fair it is better then AMD in many ways. We will have to wait and see however. I do think Switch 2 is likely the more promising situation and they Xbox Series systems.

Man those 20 Final Fantasy fans that still own Xboxes are gonna be so happy!

MrNinosan33d ago

Not really, when they realize they have to pay for it, and won't get in through GamePass.

raWfodog33d ago

I still haven't played it yet. I'm waiting for the Rising Tide DLC to release. Maybe I'll get to it by this summer.

andy8533d ago

More like Switch 2. That would be massive in Japan

Ps5conehead33d ago

Redgrave33d ago

Extermin8or3_33d ago

We'll see, either Microsoft are praying then a truck load of money to bring it over, or they are willing to see if it will sell. If it's the latter then Xbox gamers better show up to buy it- if they don't square enix won't bother again.

PrinceOfAnger33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Well.. sony paid alot of money first for making FF games exclusive.

crazyCoconuts33d ago

I doubt they paid a lot. The Xbox market for JRPGs is so small.

MrNinosan33d ago

Song doesn't need to pay SE money to get games. The difference is thay SE games sell on Playstation but they don't sell on Xbox.

FinalFantasyFanatic33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

My understanding was that Sony helped more than actually funding the game, hence while it started out as an exclusive game for Playstion, but we know the plan was to eventually port it to at least PCs.

Petebloodyonion33d ago

Why would they need to show up?
1) I'm sure a huge chunk of Xbox owners are also PlayStation owners meaning they probably already bought it on PS5.
2) I doubt that you please a fanbase by giving them the middle finger due to accepting money for making sure to not make the game for them.

Michiel198933d ago

porting to another system with mostly the same architecture isn't that much work. Even if it sells only a tiny bit on xbox it will probably be worth it for them.

CrimsonWing6933d ago (Edited 33d ago )

I think with the new Xbox relationship and seeing how these games aren’t meeting sales expectations it makes sense that they’re Putting them on Xbox.

Shane Kim33d ago

You think it suddenly will on xbox? MS is going third party couse nothing sells on xbox.

CrimsonWing6933d ago (Edited 33d ago )

I’m not saying if it will or won’t. Common sense would show that if you make your product available to more consumers you’ll pull in more money than you would by walking yourself off from consumers. I’m just stating the obvious on why this will come to Xbox. They’ve already shook hands on stage announcing a reinvigorated partnership and brought FF14 to the platform as a result. 16 and the RE-Trilogy will more than likely show up. Xbox already has Reunion. Had there been stronger sales in PS5 maybe they wouldn’t, but that’s obviously not happening.

autobotdan33d ago

Final Fantasy XVI on Panasonic 3DO or PC Engine CD

jznrpg33d ago

I wish PC Engine came back. Loved my Turbo Grafx 16 but they didn’t port enough games because not enough people bought it in US

DarXyde33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Unless Sony is coming out with a handheld powerful enough to run it, I'm sure an Xbox version is coming (and perhaps even a Switch 2 version). XVI is too westernized to miss Xbox entirely, I feel. It might be the next Xbox though, given the speculated 2026 launch. It's supposed to have some portability features (allegedly), which would really be an incentive to do that.

Square did a great job trolling everyone on Remake when they announced FFVII remastered at PSX. If they announced XVI for Mac and nothing else, that would have been God tier trolling.

I don't know about ''great'' rpg.

Most epic fight sequences and presentation? Yes

Worst side quests ever? Yes
Boring traversal? Yes
Empty worlds? Yes
Demo is infinitely more mature than the actual game? Yes
FF16=MMO side quests + Devil May Cry Lite

Alos884d ago

I'd give it the great part, it's the RPG part I find dubious.

EternalTitan4d ago

There is no Roleplaying/decision making in this game.
No crafting there isnt even character builds because just like Dante/Bayonetta Clive has all skills and loadouts available to him.

CrimsonWing693d ago (Edited 3d ago )

What do you mean there’s no role playing? Also, I’m fairly certain I made builds with Eikon abilities and I’ve gone to the blacksmiths to literally select craft weapons and gear. 🤷‍♂️

EternalTitan1d ago

How many 'builds' can you make?
Weapons and gear only increase numbers. Tell me about elemental weaknesses and status.

CrimsonWing6923h ago(Edited 23h ago)

@EternalTitan

Elemental weakness isn’t an RPG defining end-all-be all element.

What statuses are you asking about? F*cking status buffs and debuffs? You talking about stats that increase with gear crafting? Because all that’s present in the game.

The fact that you even admit there’s builds and RPG elements contradicts your claim. No matter how limited they may be, they exist in the game, therefore it is an RPG. I think the correct critique is instead of claiming it’s “not an RPG” you really mean to say it’s an RPG not as in-depth as it’s contemporaries. Regardless, it’s an RPG nonetheless even without “elemental weakness” playing in combat.

CrimsonWing694d ago

Let’s be honest, this isn’t a “great” RPG. I am in the camp that it IS an RPG, no DMC game I’ve played is designed like this… but in terms of being a great RPG… well, I much prefer the RE-Trilogy over this.

That being said, I do think the DLCs have probably the best boss battles I’ve played in a game. Omega was crazy and the battle theme just amplified that for me. In the other hand, I’m struggling to think of a game that has a boss battle as great as Leviathan. Like, I played it on FF mode and it was sooooo intense and just a gorgeous and fun experience. The music was also top notch!

However, I really disliked most of everything of FF16. The Benedikta arc was fantastic, but after that the game was boring and a slog to get through. I think the boss battles were the best parts, but also inconsistent for me. Bahamut was peak for the base game, but everything else didn’t surpass that experience until you play the DLC bosses.

VersusDMC4d ago

The 2 DLC's were great. 2 new eikon ability sets (leviathan and...) and a survival/bloody palace mode with Rising Tide were great as well.

repsahj4d ago

The Base game is already great for me IMHO and the 2 DLC will even make it better.
