Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Review - Tom's Hardware Italia

Mario Petillo: "Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a lesson from Square-Enix to Square-Enix: Final Fantasy XVI and Naoki Yoshida pale in the face of the construction of gameplay and everything beyond Rebirth's narrative. From moving around with the Chocobo to exploring a huge world, to think that this will only be the second chapter in a trilogy leaves us to imagine how huge the concluding one might be, which will give us a chance to explore everything again with Cid's Highwind."

Full 40-100+ hour game, no dumb DLC, No ESG, No SBI, fair representation where it counts, Mini games up the wazoo, amazing combat. And the game ends up selling slower than Remake.... I'm not saying it's not selling well at all but the fact that it's not selling into the stratosphere is insane. People have been screaming for this for over a decade and sleeping on it to this degree is a damn crime. It makes me wonder why Square ever bothered. I guess we can say good bye to any further remakes beyond 7. I just hope they nail the third and final part out of the damn park and just call it a damn day.

How would you know that it's selling slower than Remake, even if it wouldn't be strange as PS4 was around the double amount wheb Remake was released.

Just want to know where you got your info, as I haven't seen any, more than it's selling very well worldwide.

A lot of others have reported on this, some featured on N4G which is where I first heard about it.

Like I said, I'm not saying it's a flop at all, in fact, it is selling "very well" but to be this much bigger/better in scope and quality and yet lag like this in terms of sales behind Remake "pretty well" doesn't really do it. If it sold as well as it should have for a game of this quality, you'd be seeing a bunch of articles about it on N4G and everywhere else. But all we get are Helldiver articles about how well that is selling, which to be fair, isn't a really fair comparison considering it's a multiplayer game that is 30 dollars cheaper and is on PC as well.

I just hope this doesn't deter Square from committing to large remakes in the future but honestly, after all that 10-15 years of clamoring for a remake and Square succeeding in delivering, they deserve more than this.

I just hope the PC sales are the game changer. I know I'll be buying it again for PC. It's literally one of the greatest FF if not greatest JRPGs in the past 2 decades. The only real rub I have against it so far is the performance issues which is more or less a knock against the PS5 considering the PC version will be the definitive version for me.

@Lionsguard
That it sold less physical in Japan first day is no proof it selling less worldwide thou.

I doubt Rebirth is selling badly.

Steam deck runs it ok and the switch 2 is more powerful (docked]. Handheld mode will be the interesting one

No physical release GTFO. This game deserves to be in your collection, not some digital shit.

I can definitely see them offering a boxed collection of the entire trilogy after it’s completed. Or at least it would be a smart thing to do if Square wanted to bring in more money.
