I wouldn't worry large drops, especially for physical are to be expected. In some markets it actually outsold Remakes launch numbers (although don't expect articles about it).

Plus the game is really good.

The headline editorialises the original tweet as it says ‘sales have already dropped’ meaning that the drop is far higher and more premature in timeframe. However it ignores the context which is the most in demand games will meet that demand in sales in the first week so there will naturally be a big drop after the first week.

A user asks ‘Is a 89% drop normal for week 2 sales?’ and GamesIndustry.biz sales editor replies ‘It’s on the higher side of normal’.

I prefers 16s graphics aswell.

Where 7rebirth truly and utterly trumps 16 is the battle system, it's miles better but outside of that I prefer 16 in most other categories .

I loved ff16 outside of the battle system, ff7rebirth is much better game all round but is a more mellow experience for me. There not many lows but not many highs either.

I enjoy both Rebirth and XVI. I disagree that Rebirth is better in every way though, XVI has better graphics and soundtrack for me.

It can be hard to entice new gamers that hadn´t played the first game to jump in while it can be even harder to convince those who played FFVII: Remake but didn´t fell in love with it, to pay full $70 on day one for Rebirth.

I liked FF16 and i platinumed it. Nothing wrong with this game. I really enjoyed it. I do enjoy more with FF7 rebirth. Both FF7 rebirth and FF16 are great.

Sounds much worse than it is. Still number 2 adn we don't know what week one sold to determine what an 89% drop really looks like, and it's only Retail. Still number 1 in Japan. It's not the greatest seller but it's not bad either.

This obsession over sales and growing player base makes no sense to me. Every product ever made sells like crazy within its first week and then sells slowly over time. Likewise every popular game sees it's boom during its launch and then people move onto another game. Let the publisher worry about stuff like that and just enjoy what you bought.

Before you're 100% complete on your first round, you have been 70 for way to long already.

Grinding was never ever needed in this game if you did everything.

i was exploring the grassland and lost track of the main objective. I was checking to see where i can go and where im restricted to go. i tried to climb everything. but at the same time i was killing everything in sight. the next thing i realized, i was at level 42.

You don't get to 42 in Grassland by just walking around etc.
I hundred percented every region before moving forward, and not even after 4th region (Gongaga) I was lvl 42, doing everything.

That's why I'm saying you probably grinded VR Missions, or you ain't nowhere near lvl 42.

You can love the game even so, but being 42 before Migardsormr would take close to 100 hours, and there is just not 100 hours content in Grassland.

Unless you literally spent 10s of hrs just fighting low level enemies for who knows what reason lol battle system is great but it's not that good

ya gonna have to agree , I'm basically 72hrs in and on my last objective in Coral and have 100% everything up to that point and I'm only lv35 . Only logical thing I can think of is if he's talking about the beginning flashback scene where you're level 40 for some reason and grinded a couple levels during it .

I agree. Hell I took my time doing side missions and exploring other POI's in that area and ended up in the mid 20s when I finally fought that boss. At no point have I felt like I need to level up like that. The game rewards you more than enough with the various boss fights anyway.

For the UK with digital included, sales are 30% under Remake, which is really good considering that PS4 sales were more than 30% higher than PS5 when Remake launched in 2020. This means ratio wise Rebirth is tracking ahead of Remake.

We don't know the numbers from week 1 but staying 2nd place AFTER a 89% drop, probably means Week 1 was insane.

And also, most who want Rebirth, bought it right away, like most super big titles.

I want it to do well, but I just finished Remake and I'm burnt out. I plan on buying it down the line when the price drops. Too many games coming out this month and at nearly a hundred bucks a pop now it's almost always going to be "wait for a sale ".

a game so complete and polished , filled with activities to do. beautiful vistas, world class music that is fun and gigantic in scale deserves better sales. same people who didnt buy this will complain with bug filled cheaper budget games with microtransactions for horse armor.

It's sad to admit, but I feel a little burned out by this game. I just finished the Gold Saucer area and am now working on the side missions to unlock minigames like Fort Condor. But it all feels so bloated and tedious (I'm looking at you, Costa Del Sol). There is absolutely no variety or challenge; just Far Cry open-world stuff, hosted by the most irritating character who just doesn't belong in this universe.

The pacing really isn't there, the mysterious and ominous atmosphere of the original game is completely lacking now that Sephiroth just pops up randomly all the time without posing a threat, and it feels so unclear to me what the purpose of the gang is besides following the hooded characters and acting stupid all the time. And I'm aware that the original certainly had its fair share of lighthearted and silly moments and I liked that, but this is really over the top. Again, I haven't reached the end yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if they rewrote that shocking moment from the original just to please the wider audience. I mean, Zach seems to be alive for some reason, so anything goes at this point.

Anyway, hang loose I suppose.

- Locked to 1 current gen console with no backwards compatibility
- Priced at £70/$90

Doesn't take a genius to understand why it wasn't going to do big numbers in the first place regardless of the quality of the game, you alienate PC and Xbox players so you cut your revenue by up to 2 thirds right out the gates, then you make it so people who played Remake on PS4 can't continue if you can't afford a PS5 and then you price a third of the original game at maximum price of 2024 standards
