uncapped 30 frames smh
How about you spend more on optimization -_-

RaidenBlack51d ago

Its Capcom, though
They've been top of optimization game for quite some time.

If they were, we'd have 60fps with those visuals. The game really looks bad in term of visuals, so the fact that this doesn't run at 60fps is inexcusable. It looks like a PS4 game visually.

"If they were, we'd have 60fps with those visuals"

Ok, you're totally a game developer.

@DarkZane
You know games can be CPU-limited and GPU-limited right?
Just Visuals is not everything in a game and that's done primarliy by the GPU which are comparably simpler calculations and done parallelly to achieve higher results or "visual fidelity".
CPU is for more complex calculations. It can't do as many of them at a time & those are naturally slower to do because those are complex.
AI, Physics, Collision detection, Cloth simulation... basically the stuffs that you don't "see" upfront but you see the effects of are calculated by CPU
And a game with more of these stuffs stresses the CPU more ... bringing down performance targets.

You're right games can be CPU limited. But whys that the case exactly? It looks like a 10 year old game. What is taxing this CPU? I've seen a lot of the preview and there's nothing new that would warrant that. Forbidden West had cloth simulation, haif simulation, grass simulation, water simulation, even underwater battles ffs 😂 is a far prettier game and i was getting up to 100 fps on PS. Its just making excuses.

^ You're discounting the A.I. perhaps the partner AI is taxing or the enemy AI or the way its reactions change based on the environment. Also, don't discount all the particle effects from the magical attacks.

dragon dogma 1 was also not good in terms of performance. It dropped frames especially with that knight light ability...I was not expecting them to make same mistake. They also don't have fast travel in this game ugh!

Snookies1252d ago

Oof, never been a fan of uncapped frame rates... It's always a much smoother experience having a cap on there at slightly lower FPS. Rather than going uncapped and having uneven frame pacing thanks to hitting an extra 10-15 FPS at random times.

I was never big on the whole "60 or nothing" and didn't mind 30fps, but recently I've played more and more 60 and 120fps games, so much so that I find it difficult to play anything at 30fps now, it just feels so jarring.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a great game, but only if you take your time

Alex writes: "I have a habit of trying to rush through games, so Dragon's Dogma 2 was a nice reminder that taking it slow isn't the end of the world."

Review - Dragon's Dogma 2 (Xbox Series X) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Jordan Hawes: "Dragon’s Dogma 2 is exactly what I wanted; an updated sequel that still hold true to what made the first game so beloved. While it may not be perfect with its lack luster visuals and performance, it more than makes up for in deep gameplay and addicting exploration. The Pawn system still remains one of the coolest party systems in an RPG, and I love the dynamic feel of them. This is absolutely a game of the year contender and may be my personal game of the year already."
