The last of us 2 is actually one of the most impressive 3rd person shooters I've ever played, no game blends incredible animation and gameplay as well, only red dead redemption 2 come close.

Ever since I played the last of us 2, other games feel so outdated.

Even though you can do some shooting in those two, Uncharted and the last of us are not considered shooters. Definitely 2 of the best 3rd person action adventure games for sure though.

I can't agree that Uncharted is even in the running, Naughty Dog's gun play in games like Uncharted isn't great, nor memorable, the same can be said for the Last of Us (keep in mind, I did not play the recent remakes of both).

The Division 2 is a significantly better 3rd person shooter. Let's just use sales as a metric since we have no other means, 10 million worldwide versus 3 million? Also, I find it ironic that you argue that I'm suspended for comparing games that are similar 3rd person shooters versus my comment about games that AREN'T 3rd person "shooters" per se. Uncharted and Last of Us are incredible games, but definitely would not call them 3rd person shooters...

Division 2 co-op is dead. I ran most of that game and Warlords of NY solo. Sometimes with one other guy if lucky. I usually hang out in the Dark Zones to see other ppl. Clan kicked me cuz I didn’t wanna constantly grind the boring tower for an orange glove or what have you. Needs crossplay if it doesn’t already have it. Helldivers at least lets you peek open lobbies.

H2 is a decent game, but it hasn't proven itself as a Best Of The Genre type game.

Been playing it.... It's a good game, I just think there have been plenty of great games before it that it has borrowed from. Grenades into emergence holes, Gears of War. Snarky pro military comedic tone, Starship Troopers. Etc etc

But I still like it. 8.5/10... I'll be playing it for a while...

Just wanna say Max Payne 3 is veryy underrated. An amazing 3rd person shooter ...
During MP3's time, Splinter Cell: Blacklist (although primarily stealth) had pretty satisfying shooting mechanics, same goes for MGSV a well.
But for sake of the article's title, to name a few key titles :
As for recent pure 3rd person shooters ... why are people forgetting Gears 5, Remnant 2 and Returnal?
And for recent open world 3rd person shooters we also got Ghost Recon Wildlands, The Division 2 and Days Gone to name a few.

The gunplay is sublime, don't know about "since 2012" tho. Not that I necessarily disagree with the statement but it doesn't really matter and I don't know why there is always a need to put things you love or dislike in such terms. It is my favorite ps5 game this gen, next to gt7 vr.

Max Payne 3 is still the king. The level of detail and polish is amazing. Animation systems we take for granted now where introduced in that game first.

I recommend people look into some of the crazy details in that game.

It takes me back to being a kid reading 2000 ad comic and my hero was Rogue Trooper as well as judge dread and it was how the artist could lift off the page the feeling of a heavy gun blazing away and to a 10 year old it was so good
Same feeling with helldivers how it translates that crazy power back to the player with visceral damage and no dmg numbers only Einstein would be bothered with

Edit: I also like the fact that HD took the drop pod style from StarHawk. It brings an urgency to the gameplay.
