The best Metroidvania I have played this year (but it came out last year) is Afterimage.
You don’t know what’s going on for a while but the map is massive and there’s a lot of weapons and items to collect and quests and such. I definitely recommend Afterimage! It was $29.99 for a physical copy when I bought it and it’s definitely worth that price.
