Why it matters: The genre has stagnated and settled because video game budgets have risen to astronomical levels. Therefore, developers play it safe, with creativity and innovation suffering at the end of the day.
Most gaming genres are creatively lacking at this point. Publishers want to make 'safe games' that are based on previously successful games with little risk.
Today the executives and marketers have too much control over which games are made. 'Corporate games' are an immediate turn off for me, they are a waste of money, but more importantly, my time.
I hate how shareholders or whatever make the decisions more than the developers. They should go back to the time when developers made the game they wanted to make, when it wasn't just based on quotas and all that other business jargon.
“Marvel’s Avengers”, “Gotham Knights”, and “Sucidie Squad: Kill the Justice League” all suffered from prioritizing micro-transactions over gameplay. Those online stores had very creative skins to sell you.
It's funny cause I been playing gotham knights and really enjoying it for what it is I'm glad it's not really bad like suicide squad, if they released a couple more updates for the game it woulda turned out even better but the mfs just gave up
This could be said about AAA gaming as a whole but I'll just stick to this topic. I thinkk a great way to spice up super hero games would be to link up with the japanese developers. Many cool games could come out of this. A deadpool game from team ninja, wolverine/xmen 97 game from capcom, Cable game from Platinum, Invincible fighitng game from arcsys, batman or red hood game from RGG. Giving these very popular IP games with the crazy fast paced combat japanese devs are known for sounds like a great idea to me. Just look at what capcom gave us with the marvel VS games and what Platinum did with transformers devastation
Very hard to screw up a comic book game seeing how these fictional characters are filled with creativity.
That's why I hope we get another infamous game, they stayed true to the roots all 3 games. Most devs nowadays are afraid to offend grown ass people who barely even know what right buttons to press while trying to play a certain game lmfao. Risks were taken when making Gow2018&ragnarok, spiderman 2018 and the sequel. Also risks are being taken whole wolverine is in development. Look at where they are now tho all are great titles and I'm sure wolverine will be lit but I'm surprised at the lack of super heroe games, thoroughly made good ones that is. I also think there are others who want to make some good heroe games but upper management like NO WE NEED GAAS GAMES AND ONLINE SERVICE GAMES NOW! Lmao

Though i agree sadly they half to as it has been said they are contracted for more seasons regardless of population. Those on the top thought this was a billion dollar money maker which is just sad.
But i do wonder how much worse can it get i mean have you seen season 2 of velma a garbage product can actually get way way worse.
Netflix is really good at getting rid of great shows while greenlighting trash left and right.

So true the spend hundred's of millions on trash refuse to do dvd/bd direct release like some sites do with games then jack up there per month cost to counter there falling cash pile but get shocked as more people quit using netflix.
Then you toss in all the foreign shows showing up out of the blue or those that fight history like cleopatra.
We lost all those netflix marvel shows no disc copy nothing defenders all gone there chance of going into the mcu gone i also noticed transformers/sonic boom and Voltron: Legendary Defender are also leaving no disc copies but hey netflix has witcher 2 season's new tomb raider crap and all new resident evil high school drama coming out.
they have 5 in the pipeline its avengers 2.0 were contract's are greater than cash flow.
Every modern game had "XP" as a way to waste your lifespan, prolong the low quality content and give a false sense of progression, or encourages the purchase of micro-trash-actions.
I'm doing my best to avoid games like that.
