Palworld Review | Xbox Series X

NoobFeed Editor Daman Shelley writes - Palworld is an enigma. The game is full of glaring inconsistencies that are hard to ignore; nothing in the game feels cohesive; it just feels tacked on to each other. If the game is meant to compete with Pokémon, then it has a chance with some of the Pals designs, but it has nothing that makes Pokémon and monster-catching games so special.

I don't understand the point of reviewing a game in Early Access. Its almost appending a review store to an alpha demo.

blackblades495d ago

Yeah for clicks, jokes on them cause the game did well

Class_Viceroy495d ago

Maybe some do it for clicks, but don't you think if a company is charging someone $25+ dollars to use their product, some sort of review process should be factored in for consumers?

I see no issues with rating a game that's not fully completed, especially if they are charging you money for it.

darthv72496d ago

noobfeed must think they are onto something by doing this. Knowing good and well that this glorified demo will continue to evolve and improve until the official release.

Rynxie496d ago

No, it was (still is?) on sale for 26.99 originally $30

theindiearmy496d ago

Closest to free is that it's on Game Pass.

gerbintosh495d ago (Edited 495d ago )

This person did review it on the Xbox Series X and more than likely got it for free on gamepass. So it can cost money or it can be free

Note: I understand that gamepass costs money but just using the language that other Xbox users use.

Some devs treat early access as full retail. And some full releases should have been early access cough f76 cough.

Personally I think if they take your money and give you a product it should be polished enough to call it retail ready with the promise of enhancements coming later.

Back in the day we called early access beta testing now it's got a new terms and has a fee

Class_Viceroy495d ago

And on that note, if they take your money to let you play their game, even if it's in early access, it should be subject to reviews/criticism as well. A game that is $25+ for EA should be objectively reviewed and dinged on things it doesn't have, for the money you are paying.

These companies are being slick by releasing their games a year or two early and slapping the EA label on it. That way they avoid a ton of criticism on "release", because they can kick the can down the road on promises, and are able to eventually get to a 1.0, where nobody is really going to "review" the game because it's already had a year or two of impressions and people who have already invested their money.

I hate it.

gleepot495d ago

You're a fool if you think this game is ever going to leave early access.

Class_Viceroy495d ago

Because these companies are charging $20 to $40 for people to play their Early Access bs. In my opinion if there is a price tag tied to it, then a website or person has the right to review the product and factor in the cost investment to it as well.

People always criticize reviewing Early Access. But whether you call is a "review" or "impressions", you're still giving the same opinion. Fact is, they are charging you to touch their product, it deserves a fair review/impression.

Popular game, loved game
easy clicks by shitting on it

VincentVanBro495d ago

Do you think Steam shouldn't allow user reviews of Early Access games? Because they currently do.

The game isn't even finished. It's a work in progress, and it's fun. More fun than Pokemon games have been lately. My biggest complaint is frame rates, on Series X. I haven't tried it, on my PC yet.🤔

phoenixwing496d ago (Edited 496d ago )

I've been told it's a later build on pc so it's got more features and corrections. You'll probably like it on pc more unless your pc is apotato.

And youre right its more fun than pokemon imo.

ThinkThink496d ago

Xbox just got the update today to bring it up to date with the pc version.

theindiearmy496d ago

@ThinkThink, the PC build and Xbox builds are entirely different. They are both on version 1.3 of their builds. The builds are still very different though.

Class_Viceroy495d ago

Frame rate issues on a console in 2024. Kind of a red flag.

NotoriousWhiz496d ago

The game is most comparable to Arceus as far as Pokémon games go. But even then there are some huge differences, like this game being real time combat, and arceus using turn based combat. However, it is still an amazing game, and really demonstrates the potential that Pokémon could have if they decided to dig more into Arceus (and include co-op).

MrNinosan495d ago

Palworld is The Ark with Pokemon skin.
Imo, very little Pokemon about it.
Never was a big fan of Pokemon, even thou I love jrpgs, but The Ark is an amazing game, and Palworld have some hurdles left, but I'm sure it will be amazing when it's fully released.

Ninver496d ago

Wow way to shit on the game

gleepot495d ago

Well, that's kinda what the game is.

Palworld preview - ChristCenteredGamer

CCG writes - "Overall, while it certainly has similarities to Pokémon, it's more a survival-style game that happens to have collectible monster-style features and both are pretty fun. Technically, aside from a few minor gripes with controls and performing certain actions, it's pretty solid and quite stable. Morally, it's got some mild if cartoonish violence with little else of note. Overall, I enjoy Palworld, and if you want a survival sim mixed with collectible monsters to make your pals, this is a great game with those themes."
