The Last Of Us Part II Remastered’s UK Sales “More Than Double” Compared To The Last Of Us Part I

With the release of The Last Of Us Part II Remastered, developer Naughty Dog has brought both of its excellent titles natively on the PS5, and everyone watching the show can follow along with the game on the latest hardware.

seanpitt23463d ago

Probably because it's $10 if you have the PS4 version.. part 1 was $70 regardless

SyntheticForm462d ago

Also because it adds a substantial chunk of newness to the game with "No Return" whereas Part 1 only added a fresh coat of paint.

Two downvotes for you. Why? You've made a good point...

lellkay462d ago

Don't forget the lost levels to! lots of cool stuff there!

Tacoboto462d ago

Part 1 also had less content than the Remastered PS4 release with no MP mode and the UK if I recall also got shafted on the Firefly Edition

(Where in the US they used FedEx and did everything they could to scuff up the casing during shipment)

Stuart5756462d ago

A spot on accurate reason you've given, 100% true. But someone downvotes, wtf? Honestly this website...

SyntheticForm462d ago (Edited 462d ago )

This is likely because I've delivered a hefty share of criticism regarding this "Remaster" in the past, which likely led to injured feelings and 'distrust' among the PlayStation/TLOU faithful in this community.

I only had criticism for the campaign, and I honestly find No Return to be very worthwhile. I've always been a fan of Factions as well.

MrNinosan462d ago

And only kids on this website cares about the up/downvotes. 🙌

Andy_Dee462d ago

I agree with this.. Don't understand this system and people voting.

I too bought Part 2 Remastered. Happy with the lost levels! They were short but fun bits and I loved the commentary, getting to understand parts of the game and the development process. wished however that there would be more..

DarXyde462d ago

That is very likely.

While I really enjoyed both games, I am partial to the first, and I think most people are.

Knowing that, it isn't surprising to see a $10 game outpace a $70 game.

But to be fair to the sales of Part II, it is also possible many people skipped Part II in anticipation of a remaster. From what I've gathered, many people did hold off on buying the PS4 version for that reason.

Redemption-64462d ago

These are retail sales, not the upgrade

Redemption-64462d ago

Do not think Digital sales includes upgrades, as it isn't a sale for a game, but paying for the extra content. Sony has been doing $10 upgrades for most of their games and never once did anyone refer to them as sales

generic-user-name462d ago

Crazy that the story of Part II was allegedly so bad, yet people are still buying it, $10 upgrade or no.

Had the PS4 version and never finished it, so traded it in a while back. Got the physical PS5 version despite feeling it was a bit unnecessary, I was curious about the No Return mode so took the plunge. Really enjoying it!

anast462d ago

The No Return mode is real and the skins earned from this mode can be used in the main game. Abby's punk-rock skin is awesome. Plus, it's also cool to play Joel and Tommy.

Juancho51462d ago

Just like the first game, it’ll be a fantastic experience, people will praise it and it’ll win many awards….then there’ll be comments from worthless “console war” losers saying “It’s not even that good” or “It’s overrated”. To this day TLOU Part 1 was one of the best games I’ve ever played in my entire gaming existence, it’s just so well put together and executed. Hang up your fanboy hat for a moment and give these developers the credit and praise they deserve for pouring their hearts and souls into these titles for our pleasure.

repsahj462d ago

Amen brother! Until this day, the TLOU Part 1 opening scene is unmatched.

Review - The Last of Us Part II: Remastered (PC) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Kyle Nicol: "The Last of Us Part II: Remastered is a beautiful mess. An ambitious title that had all the right ingredients, but didn’t always pan out the way it should. The excellent survival action gameplay that showcases humanity’s brutality is often let down by a story that is trying too much and has poor pacing. Thankfully, Part II’s debut on PC improves on the last game, making it the best place to play, even with its imperfections."

If the story is deeply flawed to the blogger and it's a story game, how does the blogger justify giving it a 9? A deep flaw is unacceptable in any part of the game. If everything else was perfect, it would be an 8 game. Deep flaws are foundational issues.

Let me help:

Graphics: 10

Sound: 10

Story: 8 (Overreliance on flashbacks. While the story beats are properly paced and the plot points are generally pacy, it tries to tell 2 stories at once, which led to a structural issue in the overall story, but despite this the message and mood are striking relevant.)

Gameplay: 8 (Turning in the game is awkward and it gets in the way or searching for stuff and the quick turn in combat doesn't feel intuitive.)

Overall: 9

The Last of Us™ Part II Remastered 2025 PC 4K (No DLSS) Incredible Forest Graphics

CG says: In this video, we take a look at the same forest section on horseback in The Last of Us™ Part II Remastered that we showcased in 2020 on the PS4 Pro. It’s an amazing bit of exposition with not much happening aside from a bit of banter. However, taking it slowly rather than galloping past, the forest graphics are actually pretty detailed. One of the more beautiful moments from the game. PS4 Pro version holds-up pretty well (that output was upscaled 4K and back then, there was no DLSS or AI interventions that we know about).

This is an actual 9-10 game.

InUrFoxHole20d ago

Are you talking about the number of times it's been released?

badz14920d ago

still one of the best 3rd person action game out there

Abnor_Mal20d ago

I need to replay this gem soon, the combat is viscerally satisfying.

I just picked up my NG+ run as a refresher for the TV show. Game has aged extremely well! Gorgeous, brutal. Poor Yara really gets it. 😔

strayanalog20d ago

With the game getting mods in the near future, this release will be everything you could shake a golf club at.
