With the release of The Last Of Us Part II Remastered, developer Naughty Dog has brought both of its excellent titles natively on the PS5, and everyone watching the show can follow along with the game on the latest hardware.
Marketing analyst estimates over 2 million units of The Last of Us Part II Remastered sold during HBO Season 2.
If true, this is why Sony keeps making them. A lot of "gamers" might complain or cry about it. But as long as these things keep making money, they will keep doing it and ignore all those complaining online
This isn't an argument for the low-hanging fruit, but this here is exactly why Sony - and others - will keep producing them. Dev costs are low. Profitability is high. It's low risk, high reward. And given the skyrocketing costs in the AAA space, projects like this help fund future titles. I don't like it, and I'd much rather Sony - and others - release new titles, but I sure as hell understand why it happens.
Whats the point of making new games when you can keep releasing old ones 😂 they keep buying so why not?
WTMG's Kyle Nicol: "The Last of Us Part II: Remastered is a beautiful mess. An ambitious title that had all the right ingredients, but didn’t always pan out the way it should. The excellent survival action gameplay that showcases humanity’s brutality is often let down by a story that is trying too much and has poor pacing. Thankfully, Part II’s debut on PC improves on the last game, making it the best place to play, even with its imperfections."
If the story is deeply flawed to the blogger and it's a story game, how does the blogger justify giving it a 9? A deep flaw is unacceptable in any part of the game. If everything else was perfect, it would be an 8 game. Deep flaws are foundational issues.
Let me help:
Graphics: 10
Sound: 10
Story: 8 (Overreliance on flashbacks. While the story beats are properly paced and the plot points are generally pacy, it tries to tell 2 stories at once, which led to a structural issue in the overall story, but despite this the message and mood are striking relevant.)
Gameplay: 8 (Turning in the game is awkward and it gets in the way or searching for stuff and the quick turn in combat doesn't feel intuitive.)
Overall: 9
CG says: In this video, we take a look at the same forest section on horseback in The Last of Us™ Part II Remastered that we showcased in 2020 on the PS4 Pro. It’s an amazing bit of exposition with not much happening aside from a bit of banter. However, taking it slowly rather than galloping past, the forest graphics are actually pretty detailed. One of the more beautiful moments from the game. PS4 Pro version holds-up pretty well (that output was upscaled 4K and back then, there was no DLSS or AI interventions that we know about).
Probably because it's $10 if you have the PS4 version.. part 1 was $70 regardless
Had the PS4 version and never finished it, so traded it in a while back. Got the physical PS5 version despite feeling it was a bit unnecessary, I was curious about the No Return mode so took the plunge. Really enjoying it!
Best game I've ever played
The No Return mode is real and the skins earned from this mode can be used in the main game. Abby's punk-rock skin is awesome. Plus, it's also cool to play Joel and Tommy.
Just like the first game, it’ll be a fantastic experience, people will praise it and it’ll win many awards….then there’ll be comments from worthless “console war” losers saying “It’s not even that good” or “It’s overrated”. To this day TLOU Part 1 was one of the best games I’ve ever played in my entire gaming existence, it’s just so well put together and executed. Hang up your fanboy hat for a moment and give these developers the credit and praise they deserve for pouring their hearts and souls into these titles for our pleasure.
