This fog is expensive: The Last of Us Part II Remastered review - PLAY!

The Last of Us Part II Remastered doesn't offer much for the money it's asking for. If you are a fan of the series, you must have passed Part II by now and have your own opinion about the game. The remastered version will not change your mind either for the better or for the worse.

Finally an accurate review not afraid to tell it like it is.

Eonjay100d ago

Just think critically, the Meta is 90 so this score is 50 points off the average and 30 points lower than the next lowest score? Also, as someone who does software development work, I cringe whenever an entitled person claims someone shouldn't be paid for their work... I mean its 10 freaking bucks. Free is great but I don't expect anyone to do work for free.

Crows90100d ago

We all know why the meta is 90. Just look at movie reviews...how often is the meta the opposite of users...

jwillj2k4100d ago (Edited 100d ago )

No one asked for this feature and you called it v2.5 when it should have been called v2.01. Should have been dlc.

Stanjara100d ago

They are first party studio, they are not working for free.

Ironmike100d ago

U lost credibility soon as u mentioned meta I be buying it cos its only going cost me ten quid but 39 is steep

Cacabunga99d ago

Stop the bias, this game is a disaster I hated it the more I played it. Been waiting for things to happen but gave up halfway.

I understand those who like it, but compared to the first one it’s cat pi**

H999d ago

Average score is not what you wanna go with, I don't care how good you think any product is, any list of reviews that doesn't have scores from 0 to 100 is not accurate, you can't convince me that no matter how good you think this game is, do you really think 70 should be the lowest score

rippermcrip100d ago

72 positive reviews, 3 mixed reviews and 1 negative review.... and you clowns think this 4/10 is the only accurate review. The reviewer even admitted they were only scoring the "DLC" which doesn't make any sense to do in this case because it isn't DLC.

Aloymetal100d ago

The same salty with no life green minion that's been using a thousand alt accounts was the one who posted this article here using my profile name.
I don't know what he's smoking but I'd never post this type of clickbait article when TLOU franchise is one of my most beloved.

NotoriousWhiz99d ago (Edited 99d ago )

You won't fool me AloyMetai! /s

CobraKai100d ago

It seems like with anything, the negative review is always the “tells it like it is” review.

Terry_B100d ago

yeah..and its always the worst review that gets the most views on N4G and lands on top of the frontpage. This is pure Satire.

DarXyde100d ago

I can't read it because it isn't translating for me, but what makes it an accurate review?

Besides telling us you agree with it. Whether or not you like the themes of the game or agree with it being remastered, this game is incredibly well made. It was immaculate on PS4 and this is a better version of the same game.

I'm not personally interested and I will be skipping this one because the PS5 patch of the original is good enough for me and I don't really care about the new game mode, but to act like a 4/10—a score I contend is reserved for glitchy, broken, boring messes with bad gameplay—is "accurate".

I'm tempted to say you're out of your gourd, but I am curious about your reasoning.

BurritoWarrior99d ago

They’re basing this review off of how they feel about the remaster rather than how good the gameplay, story, immersion game as a whole and offering is.

TwoPicklesGood100d ago

Id say 7/10 at worst. 4/10 is bs imo

Christopher100d ago (Edited 100d ago )

[wrong place]

BeHunted100d ago

To be honest, it’s basically the same game. They could’ve updated it with a patch.

CobraKai100d ago

They did update it with a patch ironically.

MrNinosan99d ago

Same with Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Spider-Man 2 etc.... right?

Terry_B100d ago

Ah..that one review from Bosnia that makes the round because they gave it a 4 /10 and people make fun about the review and some xbox fans use it for their consolewar schticks ;-) I am approving this submission for the laughs in the comment section.

Elda100d ago (Edited 100d ago )

That score is BS. The game is basically for people that own a PS5 & never played TLOU2. The remaster has extra stuff & it's only $50 for newcomers. If one wants to save $20, Walmart has the game for $20 & buy the $10 upgrade which would come out to $30 plus tax. Saying the game is a 4 out of 10 is ridiculous.

Ironmike100d ago

The game its self is fantastic no doubt but its only 50 quid its a few yr old game its got a few little xtras but 50 is not a small amount of money its cos we all being brain washed to accept 70 as acceptable its not

Elda100d ago

TLOU Part 1 PS5 version was $70 with the dlc included. TLOU2 Remaster is $50 with extra stuff which imo is a better deal & if you have the PS4 disc it's only $10...an even better deal. Again this remaster version is for PS5 owners that never played the game, for folks that played TLOU2 already shouldn't be worried about this remaster.

The best PS5 exclusives 2024

With so many PS5 exclusives to choose from, it can be a little overwhelming to pick which one to play. This is especially true for a new PlayStation gamer who has yet to experience the wonder of PlayStation-exclusive storytelling. So, here's KnowTechie's take on the best PS5 exclusives in 2024 and beyond

PlayStation is killing it with the exclusives this year. Exclusive wise, what has xbox released this year?

VersusDMC12d ago

They won't complain about Microsoft not releasing games here but put all their effort into saying that only first party counts. Games like Rebirth and Grandblue Relink don't count. Games published by Sony like Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin don't count because Sony don't own the studios.

It's some narrative building so for when Hellblade 2 come out they can say, seemingly without shame, that Microsoft is actually releasing first party games this year. And claim victory.🙃

Chevalier12d ago

Weird 1st party games didn't matter when Xbox had so little, but, now they're important again? Guess Ark 3, Stalker 2 don't count any more?

KyRo12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

ARK 3 doesn't exist and it's just a timed exclusive. It's also a game that a majority of the ARK player base doesn't want as it's a massive deviation from what people like about the original game

Abnor_Mal12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

Honestly to me it doesn’t matter what they say, they are just finally getting a chance to say all the things PS fan(boy)s were saying to them for the past few years. Let them get that, they deserve a “win” for a change.

The new narrative is that suddenly first party games matter again when awhile ago they didn’t, but that was because they were struggling with the same three games with the occasional fourth or fifth. That games should be everywhere on all platforms since that’s whats happening to theirs. The consoles don’t matter just the ability to play anywhere. Whatever Xbox is doing Sony will soon follow.

They’re not moving the goalpost anymore, but rather just moving the whole damn stadium.

jwillj2k412d ago

Only a incel would care about who published what and who owns who.

If it’s not on the other consoles it’s an exclusive.

Killing what? Where are the 1st party games??
Stellar Blade and FF7 is what I’m seeing this year.. so shallow!!!!

andy8512d ago

Doesn't really matter as long as they're great games. Baffles me why people put an emphasis on 1st party. They're still games you can't play anywhere else this year

Cacabunga12d ago

Andy

PS brand is my favorite because of their stellar first party software.. currently I see absolutely nothing to go crazy for..

CS711d ago

Nonsense.

PS1 and PS2 was built on great third party exclusives like FF, MGS, GTA & Tekken.

raWfodog12d ago

Of course I love the games I’ve played from PS but I don’t believe we need to limit it to ‘exclusive’ to acknowledge that Xbox will be releasing some good games this year also. In that same vein, I believe that Xbox diehards shouldn’t limit their acknowledgment of good PS games to 1st party. There are plenty of good games to go around for everybody.

Tacoboto12d ago

This is a Playstation article about Playstation games and your comment is about Xbox. Can't you just celebrate what PS has without dragging this into console war BS?

ChasterMies12d ago

I don’t think Microsoft is releasing games exclusively on Xbox anymore. They have some timed exclusives that release on Xbox first.

Abear2112d ago (Edited 12d ago )

Returnal, Astro Bot, and Ratchet made having it since day one worth it.

GT7 free updates and Spiderman 2 and others at 60fps have made this last year more than okay.

But yeah, it’s been dry lately. BG3 and third party have made great filler, but we ready for that SOCOM or Killzone announcement and some more 1st party goodness. Crossing fingers for Ghost of Tsushima 2 announcement this summer.

Didn’t know Helldivers was exclusive! Wtf is going on at Xbox that they can’t get these games, series s strikes again.

SonyStyled12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

Sony owns the Helldivers IP. The first was a PS3/Vita/PC game. It was never an Xbox game that they could ‘get’ a decade ago. I’m not sure what the upset is with Xbox here

CS711d ago

Lol, how do you ignore Rebirth one of the best games ever made?

anast12d ago

Looks like they are on par with the previous gens. Solid games all around. Interestingly enough, we can't say they released a bad game yet this gen. Unlike the Quiet Man dustup.

I actually do not mind if Marathon releases on multiple platforms . I just wish that Marathon has a dedicated single player campaign.

DaniMacYo12d ago

Helldivers 2 is exactly what gaming needed. I’m loving it.

Tapani43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

Very keen to play this on PC.

A bit aside of the topic, but having such a strong year of PS games on PC this year, I'm very happy I moved from Playstation to PC permanently. I'd like to revisit these games later with even faster hardware and higher refresh rate, the Sony titles are just something else.

I did buy a PS5 to access the PS4 library. Another reason I bought a PS5 was actually the save files on all the games. I downloaded all my PS+ cloud saves years later as they were still there on the cloud, and actually bought Horizon Zero Dawn DLC and am going through it now. Still looks phenomenal on PS5 and am looking forward to Forbidden West on PC as well as Ghost of Tsushima.

Not buying the PS5 or the PC games because I somehow "support Sony", but just because the games are really good (1-2 level higher always than competitors multiplatform titles) and I had practical reasons for buying a PS5 (access to my massive library, thousands of hours of playtime on my save files, and upgraded resolution and performance of the games I owned.)

StormSnooper40d ago

but why leave Playstation then? It sounds like you like their games. Why not have both?

Tapani40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

I have PS3 Phat for PS1, PS2, and PS3 games and repair parts in case the drive or other components fail. PS5 for PS4 catalogue and PS5 games that do not come out for PC (seems like most of them do). I also have Vita that I use for classics from time to time on the go (once per year). So I'm hardly leaving Playstation, I just have the money today to drive the games at 120hz and RT on PC. Also, Sony and Devs do not seem to be interested in updating old games for the Pro consoles, I don't see the benefit of buying a Pro console just for a couple of supported titles.

StormSnooper40d ago

Ah I see. I somewhat agree with you in that I play on both PlayStation and PC. However, I don't see PC as a replacement for PlayStation at all. In fact, I generally prefer playing console games on consoles. I usually play strategy games on PC, or else games that are not available on my PS5. But I get you.

itsmebryan43d ago

How long di you think it will be before Sony releases all of its games on PC and PS5 at the same time?

Since they don't have any 1st party games coming out this year I think it may start with their first title next year.

DarXyde43d ago

We have two very different interpretations of what Sony said about first party games releasing this year.

“Regarding first-party software, we aim to continue to focus on producing high-quality works and developing live service games,” Totoki said. “But while major projects are currently under development, we do not plan to release any new major existing franchise titles next fiscal year like God of War Ragnarok and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.”

I took from that they are not releasing new major titles to their existing franchises because... Well, that's exactly what he said.

That aside, isn't Concord coming out this year?

RaidenBlack43d ago

Since Spider-Man 2 PC version was leaked ... I guess, Sony will greenlit the official SM-2 PC version earlier than usual.
We got to know very little about Concord, from that vague trailer. I don't think it'll come this year.

RaidenBlack43d ago

The gap will decrease that's for sure.
Won't be long till we see 6months to 1 year difference between console and PC release for singleplayer 1st party.
I know of the current release gap but Sony has been rapidly changing their business operations, from no PC releases to day 1 simultaneous live service release.
So yea, current release cycle wont be a static one that's for sure.

FinalFantasyFanatic43d ago

I honestly think day one releases would be the worst thing for Sony, and I say that as a PC player, it'll make the Playstation irrelevant, that was part of the problem for Xbox.

EternalTitan43d ago

Finally I get to burn abby to death.

Yui_Suzumiya43d ago

I'll have to upgrade soon. Pretty sure it won't run on my laptop with an Intel Iris Xe GPU and only 128MB VRAM, lol
