After London they should create their own version of a fallout game and release it so ps5 players aren't left out, since Sony clearly doesn't care if ps5 have any wrpgs. Sony never did anything after ms bought up the western rpg market.

anast523d ago

Bethesda and Obsidian are running on fumes. There is enough quality WRPGs to go around.

k2d523d ago

Such a golden IP, but Bethesda is technically and creatively bankrot.

shinoff2183523d ago (Edited 523d ago )

Naw I don't think there really is. Some might not be but even with bethsada dumbing down fallout 4 I still really enjoyed it. I just love the lore(something starfield was missing) and whatnot. So there might be plenty out there to you but I see that far from the truth. Sony dropped the ball on rpgs(1st party). A reason alot of us roll with sony.

anast523d ago

@Shin

The RPGS have to be 1st party...Who has rolled with Sony because of their history making banger 1st party WRPGs? No one, because they haven't been known as the #1 exclusive maker of WRPGs. Sony releases quality Action Adventures, ARPGs like Bloodborne, Survival Horror, and JRPGs. I would guess most people buy Sony for the Action Adventure stuff in the west, not deep WRPGs.

Sony gamers will still get award winning 3rd party RPGs and MS well...they get an empty Bethesda and Obsidian. Avowed looks like a serious throwback and not in a good way, and ES6 will be a loading screen for modders.

Bethesda has gone downhill that’s for sure. What could have been and what they actually make is so far apart.

I would like to see what Larian could do with a 3D open world rpg even though that’s not their thing I could see them doing a much better job. Their attention to detail is great.
It’s unfortunate Bethesda didn’t go that route. They won’t even move on from their old crap engine they just keep patching it and calling it new and improved.

@anast

I'm talking rpgs in general if I meant wrpg idda put a w on it. You took what you wanted to take and where I said rpg you said wrpg not me. Jrpg is my favorite but I'd take anything at this point from Sony. They gave up on jrpgs, and I'm aware they've not had any wrpg but it's a genre they could try. That's why I said rpg, because I know they don't have any wrpg. I've Rolled with sony since ps1 due to their RPGs offered not just first party but 3rd as well. Far as what I said about the wrpg market idk how else to say it ms bought up so much of those developers and sony sat on their thumbs. They bought bungie, fking yay

Just saying it wouldn't hurt sony to try a different genre these days. I stick with ps cause the Japanese support it gets with jrpgs, not sonys first party. Last of us, horizon, ratchet, I really enjoyed. Gow, Spiderman aren't my type of games. Spiderman was cool for a few hours but I'm super heroed out. Gow I was never really into so i cant really judge it. I'm not saying those are bad games at all. Returnal was alright but I liked dead Nation better (I think same dev). I'm also not expecting every game sony makes to be tailored to me hence I wont knock their first party that I'm not into.

And your right avowed looks bad. It looks like a game ms forced obsidian to do.

-Foxtrot524d ago

It looks super good but the sad thing is this kind of squashes any small chance we had of Bethesda or Obsidian doing a London based game now.

anast523d ago

I wouldn't want Bethesda touching anything.

mastershredder523d ago

The Location sounds interesting, but it does not belong in Fallout Lore. It's not about the UK and never was. Thanks, Me-too fan-hard-modders, but no thanks.

Fallout 4 on Switch 2 seems inevitable, but what about Starfield?

A Fallout 4 Nintendo Switch 2 port seems like an inevitability, but what about other Bethesda RPGs like Starfield.

I think all games will end up on switch from Xbox. MS has embraced going to other platforms now if games aren't doing well on Nintendo MS may be more selective in the future

On playstation they have been quite successful

anast68d ago

I'm not sure too many people want to play Starfield.

Profchaos67d ago

Phils all but confirmed they are going in hard with the switch 2

TheColbertinator67d ago

All are welcome to Switch 2. Microsoft Games Studios is interested in long term profits and market value not petty fanboy thoughts.

Ex-Starfield dev dubs RPG’s design the “antithesis” of Fallout 4

Starfield is actually a RPG. Bethesda hasn't done that in a while.

GhostScholar169d ago

People acted like starfield was so less interesting than fallout and drastically different, but I call bs on that. Both are decent games, but they are both filled with the appearance of things to do and items to interact with but 99 percent are just there to be there with no significance. Fallout has better character work but they are both sort of illusions that they’re vast.

Studio has been going downhill since Skyrim. Every following game gets dumbed down more than the previous. I'll be shocked if Elder Scrolls VI even has dialogue options.

anast169d ago

Fallout 4 was bad, real bad. Starfield might even be a better RPG.

trez1082169d ago

Fallout 4 wasn’t a great fallout game per se but real bad? I don’t know maybe I’m a little biased because I replied it not long ago and had fun with it.
