PlayStation free store credit 'way better than I expected', fans agree

PlayStation Stars is, simply put, pretty awesome. By playing certain games and making store purchases (including PlayStation Plus free games), you’ll acquire points. These can be redeemed as store credit or in exchange for free games.

There's a guacamole 2? Fk me. Played the original on psp. Great game

I'm not familiar with this program, is it like Microsoft Rewards? I know with that I've already earned a few hundred.

If Sony has something like that I definitely want to get in on it. I still gotta pick up Ragnarok and LOU2 Remaster...

P_Bomb479d ago

I’ve earned about $30 off now, more or less. I’ll take it.

blackblades479d ago

I earn $5, problem with this is that you mainly gotta buying from the store to get the pts. I dont buy games on the store a lot and sure hell dont buy at full price. The only pts I can get is from monthly ps+ which isnt much at all and now I dont have ps+ so I won't be getting nothing.

P_Bomb479d ago

Yeah, the majority of my points stem from game purchases. I feel ya. If you don’t buy a lotta digital you won’t rack ‘em up

Profchaos479d ago

It would be nice to have a Nintendo style system but a disc and get points within the first 12 months of a games life

EvertonFC479d ago (Edited 479d ago )

You can get £5 every 2months just doing the challenges and another £5 buying approx 2 games.
I've been averaging £10 ever 2months or so, it's not just buying the games.

TheColbertinator479d ago

@Profchaos

Nintendo had that program during the Wii era with codes inside disc copies but unfortunately got rid of it.

Seraphim479d ago

I think the bigger problem is that games often appear in the following month so if you already bought a game at launch you miss out on the points; or have to buy something else on the list. While I primarily buy physical that is one thing I'd like to see change.

It is. I made $20 off of PS Stars so far.

Deathdeliverer479d ago

Ive been stacking up $25 store credit cards for months. Tekken 8 $109 bundle is 100% free. Keep in mind I used $25 earlier this year for a discount on something else that I bought that I cannot remember. I admittedly buy plenty of games. Mine probably builds up faster that the average bear.

TallDarknWavy479d ago

There's no difference in the $5 or $25 cards in terms of points. It's 1250 points for $5, times 5 is 6000 points for $25. You may as well trade the points in for store credit every $5.
Just so one day Sony doesn't say "Well it was a good run, but we're cancelling Playstation Stars, hope you all traded your points in for store credit and didn't save them up"

Nucleux479d ago

It’s a nice little bonus to have. It would be even better if you could sell or trade in digital licences for a few euro, maybe €5? I’ve loads of games that I have no intention of playing again

EvertonFC479d ago

That's gotta happen at some point in the next 10 years. Didn't Sony patent something years ago with digital trade in ?

I Don’t Understand ‘Blue Prince’

Shaz from Pixel Swish: "I had some thoughts (and a lot of questions) on the recently released puzzle roguelike, ‘Blue Prince,’ developed by Dogubomb and published by Raw Fury."

Me neither. Deleted it. Robocop is clearly more my level.

It's pretty damn good. I'm about 16 hours into it. Lots of secrets and mysteries. I'm on day 14 I think. Still haven't beaten it. Gotten very close a few times. Unlocked many secrets already. Instead of writing down things, I usually take pictures with my Playstation and write on them using the editor, its very fast. There is a small element of luck, but mostly it's about learning and planning and solving puzzles that are bigger than the one room you're in or the item you're looking at. There are so many secrets that some players will never know unless you put in the time and learn and pay attention. It's an eerie and mysterious puzzle game. I think it's addicting and a lot of fun. 9/10

I just got to day 4. First 2 days I started going into it blind, and just trying to remember by memory but got overwhelmed pretty quickly. Got a handy dandy notebook and my notes will definitely help in the long run.

Been enjoying it so far, but with Oblivion dropping and me stupidly picking it up, might take a hit to my playtime on Blue Prince.

I like that critical thinking and puzzle solving go hand in hand, and you're not having your hand held the whole time.

No game is for everyone. We all have different tastes, some have broader taste some have more specific taste and it’s ok either way. Play what you like!

Christopher6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

***The problem is, the game tells you absolutely nothing about what you’re actually supposed to do.***

Getting to room 46 itself is a puzzle and the whole game tells you to solve puzzles.

***But how do you know if something in a room actually has meaning?***

It's a puzzle game. It's not just going to hand you the answer. I guess this is the point where we get to people who want an NPC to tell them how to solve the part of a puzzle and the people who truly want to figure out the puzzle for themselves.

This makes me feel like some gamers are becoming more like my nephews, they're not solving problems, they're just looking for youtube videos of people who have solved them and following what they did.

P.S. Please don't write another first paragraph like the one in this again. It really sets a tone that you don't know what you're doing.

AvP on the Jag was pretty ambitious for the time. I always wondered what a smoother (faster) frame rate would have done for that game. nice to see a spiritual sequel is in the works after all these years.
