Forbes writes: "Sony may fully take over Bungie if Destiny 2's revenue does not increase and costs do not come down. But what would that look like?"
Whether it's entering a zen state during DPS or the rush of dopamine on its completion, Destiny 2's Raids excels in multiplayer teamwork.
A job listing published by the UK studio reveals that its next project will be another entirely new IP.
Good. Something not boring, not one of those "make your own game" crap and also on Steam would be nice.
Outriders developer People Can Fly's next game has been canceled after its publishing agreement with Take-Two Interactive fell through.
"the capital group of PCF Group S.A."
If you're getting funding from a group that needs two different ways of Acronyming itself, things will not go the way you want them to.
Outriders was crap. They slapped that game together and threw in a loot system to get players' attention. This game was absolutely jank and the always online nonsense made it stutter like crazy. People Can't Optimize.
I liked Outriders but I could see where the artistic vision was compromised. The way the industry is now, it wouldn't surprise me that upper management would scrap something that didn't pull in money via gaas, mts, or other means.
"While Sony purchased Bungie for $3.6 billion in 2022, the company has remained an independent subsidiary since then. However, if Bungie fails to meet certain financial targets, Sony has the power to step in, dissolve the current board, and assume direct control of the company itself "
They need to meet financial goals with Destiny if they want to avoid hostile take over from Sony. Sounds very similar to ABK when they were under them actually. What revenue targets do they need to hit? They over monetize and over charge which runs the community away so the player counts drop. Plus they're overseeing other in house 1st party games at Sony. They're being stretched and spread around.
There's actually allot more goin on at Bungie that recently came out.
Anyway under Sony they'll be more focused. Story implemented content from Destiny, better organization and just generally steer the ship around adding micromanagement tactics. Sucks but they have to that but Bungie has terrible management skills.
Well their Destiny is in their hands…….at least for now.
How about make something other than Destiny?
Seeing as part of what they paid was for employee retention and Bungie execs STILL fired a bunch of people, yea take over, and then fire management cause they clearly ain't doing a good job.
As much as I'm not a big fan of Halo. I did enjoy destiny MP but they seem to be all over the shop with destiny right now.
Like I remember playing and loving destiny 2 when it released. Went back to it when it released on PS5 and it's just different and confusing now. Like what happened to the destiny 2 campaign? It looks like is was replaced with the destiny 1 campaign?
Personally I think if Sony take over. Don't just make them do a single player game. Get them to do a halo inspired single player game but also the MP that they where known for with halo.
