Harvest Moon: Back to Nature is a captivating farming simulation game released for the PlayStation 1 back in 1999. It has etched itself into the annals of gaming history, as well as being the spiritual predecessor for numerous similar games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley.
The PlayStation (PSX or PS1) was home to a whole load of amazing games. The system is arguably the best console for RPGs and helped revolutionize sports and shooter games. With such an influx of overwhelmingly great PS1 RPGs and other games, it’s only natural that a few would slip through the cracks.
I thought Dune 2000 was something I made up in my head. I used to ask my brothers about the sand level in Command and Conquer. The interface is like dead-on.
I’m fairly certain Parasite Eve was not underrated. The game got a greatest hits release and is pretty fondly remembered to this day.
The Quest Mode for Ehrgeiz is phenomenal. Really good looking ps1 game that benefits from modern emulation.
I find it weird Um Jammer Lammy being so unknown when I think it's much better than Parappa. It even has a secret second half which you play as Parappa himself, with rap versions of the songs.
However, while Parappa is famous and his first game even got a remaster, Um Jammer Lammy stays forgotten.
Blocky graphics, pre-rendered backgrounds, and controls that could not make sense of a 3D world were all hallmarks of games on the original PlayStation console. Here are our picks for PS1 games that actually stand the test of time.
One of the best, if not the best, generations for gaming. So many brilliant games came out during this: Parasite Eve, Resident Evil, Alundra, Xenogears, Final Fantasy VII, and I’ll be here all day naming them off.
Nowadays, nobody would take a risk on 75% of the IPs on that console. I’ll tell you this, there was no damn remasters on that system. Every game was something unique.
Parasite Eve, Dino Crisis, RE2, RE3, Legend of Dragoon, Chrono Cross, Xenogears are all my favorites. Glad to see Legacy of Kain get mentioned. FF7 does get the love and its a great game I love it but I Like FF8 more and I know many people who will also drop FF9 into this list as well. MMX4 I prefer on the Saturn myself don't know what it is but I preferred MM games on the Saturn. PS1 was my second choice when the 32bit era landed on gamers after the fall of the Saturn PS1 had the library and the developers.
A lot of these games do not hold up as well as you’d think. MGS is pretty archaic for newer gamers to grasp. It’s not as bad as RE or Silent Hill but it still plays rough. I think out of the PSOne generation, the most preserved games are 2D like SOTN, Rayman, and my favorite Oddworld games. I agree that FF Tactics is definitely a lasting format.
Vagrant Story is the only one I would go back to play. In certain ways it still hasn't been matched. The dialog and visual direction are of amazing quality and the music is absolutely superb.

Alcohol is one of the most dangerous drugs out there, so it is interesting to see how games approach this topic. Between funny nights out and the devastating consequences in the morning, these games show the different sides of drinking alcoholic beverages.
I stay away from alcohol, as I've seen enough of it's damage through rock stars and whatnot.
I put countless hours into this game... I think this is the one where I accidentally killed my dog from only feeding it nuts and berries, lol. Can't recall, as I played so many different Harvest Moon games throughout the years growing up.
