Teardown is a visual, physical showcase on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles

DF: "Incredibly distinctive and unique, Teardown is a game quite unlike any other... and after years in development on PC, it's finally arrived on consoles. Alex takes a look at the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of the game, explains what sets Teardown apart and how its visuals and physics work, then examines performance. Tweaks are required on Xbox Series X, but overall - Teardown is looking great."

Kind of weird about that double buffer vsync.

sagapo577d ago

Yeah, triple buffer on PS5, double on SeriesX. I have VRR so no issue for me, but still.

How do you find out if your tv has VRR. Not that it matters for me since I have PS5. But still would like to know.

Also, Didn't we get this game Day-one on PS+ this month?

Now I have to go check it out.

@S2KIllinit

I would just check your TV model number and look it up in spec sheets online.

Yes. The game is free now for PS+ subscribers, just downloaded late yesterday. Very cool.

@ S2kilinit: I play on a PC monitor, so easy to find out. I have an LG which supports both G-sync and Freesync.

only benefit is the frame rate isn't jumping all over the place continuously. It moves from a locked 60 to a locked 30. Jarring at times I'm sure. PS5 with it's triple buffer certainly keeps the framerate higher overall, but it definitely bounces around quite a bit.

Not sure why they opted for different strategies, is the Xbox not capable of triple buffering?

I think triple buffer is a OpenGL (vulkan) setting

If you start a fire in a house with the blowtorch, you'll see the most realistic fire you've ever seen in a video game. I'd be curious to hear a firefighter's opinion on it, but the way it spreads and how parts of the structure disintegrates is wild to behold

Better looking fire effects than Quantum Theory.

Inverno576d ago

The fire amazed me. We don't get enough burning building levels in games.

I was a bit surprised by how well this runs actually. But man this is way more fun than I thought it would be

This was my most wanted game this year and it hasn’t disappointed. Amazing so far and I’ve only played campaign, there’s a huge mod community and mods on console! Day one and actually polished and worth it.

Barlos576d ago

Was going to get this to play on my steam deck but was a bit concerned about performance so glad I held out for the PS5 version.
