Sony’s new “slim” PlayStation 5 is smaller but also weirder

It’s almost cute from some angles — but a bit ugly from most.

Same, I was like OMFG this looks horrible when I got the PS5 out the box on launch day but a few weeks later I was like dam this looks sexy as hell.

I think it looks great...except for the kickstand/feet which look cheap and flimsy.
Does the same kickstand get used if you didn't get the disk drive? It'd think you'd need a shorter one...

That is what Im curious about as well. There have been no promo shots of the digital edition, its always the disc one. I want to know how the digital is supported when horizontal because there is no disc drive to help with that on the one end.

Some people thought the PS3 was a good looking console…. Says it all really. You can’t please everyone.

I’m not a fan of how the ps5 looks but it’s certainly not uglier than the fat ps3.

I realise this. I also think Sony would have that covered. Perhaps the metal 'bubbles' up inside filling the void that would be left if all glooped down .

I totally get you..and the PS5 deserves to be horizontal. I prefer all my console horizontal

Proceeds to keep ps5 vertical cos', ...it looks cool.

Does it still use liquid metal? Rumors were floating around that they did away with it on the revision

@crazy, yes. you should check out some of the tear downs. They reduced the overall board size, changed the heat pipes and still use liquid metal.

As for disagrees... well okay then. Just remember to open your 5 and re-spread the liquid metal from time to time as gravity will pool it toward the bottom of the APU. But don't take my word for it... there are countless repair videos that show the same thing.

It’s the harsh edge on the disc drive….it doesn’t swoop like the original. The digital slim looks miles better.

Thats because its being used as support now. I haven't seen the digital and how its supported when horizontal.

That actually looks really good. Also, the 2.0 plates look way better on the slim than the 1.0 plates look on the OG PS5.

Looks fine to me. It’s smaller and that’s all I care about as I’ll get one for travel and for my kids to use at home. I won’t get rid of my OG PS5 no matter what.

I will get a couple disc drives to go with it. I’ll get a pro also and keep all the games I want downloaded with patches on all of my PS5’s.

I always thought the OG PS5 was a sick design. Looks futuristic and the black and white makes it stand out in the set up. The slim to me looks just as nice. I rather have this than a bland looking console.

I don't like how the OG ps5 is wobbly when laid flat. every time trying to do cable management and bump it a little then have to re center it on its stand. ps4 design was the best. simple and sleek
