Starfield won't even make the list 😂 I can almost guarantee that. I would choose Hogwarts Legacy and Final Fantasy 16 over Starfield

Honestly the only game that should win that title this year is baldurs gate 3

The competition should really be so we know who won 2nd place. BG3 is so far above anything else I played this year

Agreed dude, BG3 should win and i dont think its even close to be honest. and in a year full of great games that saying something.

the 6 i think that deserve to be up for it are:

BG3
Spider Man 2
Alan Wake 2
Zelda TOTK
Hogwarts
FF16 - the highs of this game, my lord!! flawed but seeing and fightin summons that i grew up with at this scale and in the way it was done was bloody awesome and makes my top 6

i wont include remakes but other honourable mentions that i enjoyed this year are SM wonder, Starfield, hi fi rush, SF6, Diablo 4, Jedi survivor

What awards would you give to FF16 for it to have “most awards” though? Dont get me wrong I quite liked the game, but practically every single category I can think of there was a better game this year than FF16

Action? Spiderman or HiFi Rush
RPG? BG3 (and personally I also prefer Sea of Stars, such a good RPG)
Story? Alan Wake
Music? HiFi Rush or Alan Wake 2 (though FF16 was quite good too)

And as general GOTY, I cant really see it win that many awards when there were several games this year that overall were just better

Best score and music - big chance
Best art direction - medium chance
Best narrative - big chance
Best performance - big chance
Best action/adventure - big chance
Best audio design - medium chance
Annovation in accessibility - big chance (but SM2 will win)

I would love it for Lies of P to win something. BG3 deserves the big wins, but Lies of P exceeded all my expectations (and I'd been looking forward to it since it was first revealed).

Still bothers me that they do not do Award Show after the year ends . But from what I read early December is the best time to get developers and studios involved in the Awards Show ?

Baldur's Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 are in the running for me.

BG3 was and still is a wonderful time sink, while Alan Wake 2's tone, True Detective inspiration, and all around top notch design put it in masterpiece territory.

This has been an excellent year for gaming.

Game of the Year for me would definitely be a toss-up between Grisaia: Chronos Rebellion, Anonymous;Code, Ginka, Stella of the End, Warhammer 40k: Boltgun, Starfield, Eternights, Alan Wake II, Ghostpia: Season One, Trepang2, Atomic Heart or Loop8: Summer of Gods.
