I have a PS1 with the attachable screen and a PS3 Fat I play my PS1 games on and they play just as well as any other device. I do wish I could pop them in my PS5 though so I only had one console out plus I love the feel of Dualsense but I do enjoy them on the old PS1 about the same as the game means the most to me. Remakes are a bit different but even games with remakes I like to play the old versions still.

The OG fat PS3 is probably the best way of playing original discs on a flatscreen without investing in convertors. The smoothing effect looks quite good, even if retro purists don't like it all that much.

Are older PS3 models worse in any way, regarding PS1 emulation ? I do know about PS2 emulation being only available on earlier PS3 models, but I do not know of any issues around PS1 emulation on later models.

@Pedrof Older PS3s might be better at PS1 emulation. I am not sure though.

And yeah, it would be nice to get PS1 BC on PS5. I am lucky enough to have an OG PS1 and a convenient place to play it so I use that mostly.

Sometimes I will play on the PS3 cos it's in an even more convenient spot and on a much bigger TV.

PS 1-5 have been the best place to play, other platforms are second or third best options.

you are whats wrong with gaming today

anast573d ago

I would say you are a part of why we get bottom shelf products that all look like Fornite, Halo, and CoD. Or the infinite Mario remakes.

The disparity of quality is evident among consoles. Also, the cost to quality is unmatched when comparing PC gaming and the PS5.

I always find games like Tomb Raider, GTA, Crash, Spyro, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy and so on better on the PS because it's where I first started playing them. It's a nostalgia thing.

The correct controller in your hands is also a big deal.

That gen was atrocious for 3D games. No game on PlayStation and Saturn looked any good. Shaking polygons and dodgy gameplay. Some games okay, but not many.

PrimeVinister573d ago

Some can be hard to go back to even if you played them back into the day.

But quite a few are still very playable. I am playing a Master League in PES 2 right now. Just beat Nordzeekanal 1-0 with my Chelsea in progress. Gudjonsson scored just after half-time with Castello assisting.

Putting Ads in a pay-to-play Premium title? Well done Microsoft. Well done /s This is really scummy.

This game will never change because these sweatlords love buying up all the skins and bundles that become obsolete the following year. They're the ones perpetuating Activision's greed.

If Microsoft introduces adverts into its other games I hope it can do them without disrupting the immersion of the game world. So for example in the new Fable game it would look out of place if there was a billboard advertising Cadillacs.

A far better way to do it would be to have a wizard conjure a 'dream cloud' in front of your character and then in the cloud you can see the Cadillac car and see the text with price and availability and hear a booming sales voice promoting the car. That would work so well as it wouldn't be a billboard and completely, 100%, fit in with your character's adventuring in Albion. Doesn't that sound so much better?!

@venom, or how about our of 100 farts in Albion, 1 of them has a Cadillac pop out

@crazyCoconuts That’s undeniably off-beat - but it could really work!
