Insomniac's Narrative Director explains that keeping Harry as Venom would mean more dramatic influence on Spider-Man 2's story.
Superhero games have been around for a long time before the PS2, but it felt like Sony’s second console was when developers really started to play around with the powers and abilities of the characters we’ve seen in movies, TV shows and comic books.
Just beat the Punisher game from the Marvel Capcom Arcade Collection last night, couch co-op with a buddy. That was fun.
Spider-Man 2 was life back then. I used to swing around New York and powerbomb thugs off of skyscrapers. Other than that I played Ultimate Alliance a lot as well as Hulk Ultimate Destruction.
The production values are top-notch across the board. If you are looking to play the ultimate version of Spider-Man 2, this is it.
John Linneman From Digital Foundry investigates Marvel's Spider-Man 2 for PS5 Pro. How does the game benefit from the extra GPU power and RT features?
I understand what they were going for but I personally still didn’t care for it, I’d have liked something more to the comics as I don’t feel Eddie has ever had justice with his comic book roots.
The whole thing with Harry turning just felt like a rehash of Peter fighting someone close to him in the last game, Doc Ock.
Also the games issue is it’s not only splitting time between Kraven and Venom they are splitting time between Peter and Miles which means less time overall for all of them
I kind of wish it was just a Peter focused game so they could have focused more on that relationship with Harry but because you’re jumping to Miles with his story beats you don’t get to see much of them. Then you have MJ’s drama with her job at the Bugle.
Seeing as they want to keep continuing the spiderman games and even a venom game, they can always use eddie later.
I actually thought this angle was better. I know it breaks tradition and completely erases a character, but the way Harry needed it, Peter didn't want to give it back, and then telling Harry it has to be killed worked better than an angry sort of co-worker hating Spider-Man and getting the symbiote.
I think you get a lot more dramatic and emotional depth with how they used this friendship angle. Plus, they still can do Hobgoblin and Eddie could still show up and take Venom. So, it's not like things are drastically altered yet.
I haven't read the comics so I don't have too much attached to Eddie Brock as a character, but I am loving everything they've done in Spider-Man 2.
Last night I got through to being near the end of the story. Peter's normal again, we're looking for Venom, new "things" popped up in the city and are much more difficult than the usual enemies. This "Scream"ing fight that was amazing...
Game of the Year for me; the story is done so well and flows together, it's obvious they knew the story they wanted to tell.
I like a new twist on things
