Like A Dragon Gaiden Only Took 6 Months To Make The Game

hmmmm... I'm a massive Yakuza fan, but is this going to be noticeably budget looking? That's a little concerning.

It's going to look like pretty much every Yakuza game of the last 10 years. Maybe a bit crispier as it's using a more modern version of the Dragon Engine. But this is a cross-gen and a $50 title after all, so if you are expecting Alan Wake II levels of visuals you will be left waiting.

They've always been very good looking games even though they pump them out I'm not worried

@andy85

Yeah exactly, it's the same level of quality that they always deliver that we should expect here.

Yup. The games take place in the same cities so aside from updating some buildings, signs, etc., a lot of the work is already done. I honestly wish more open world sequels would reuse the same world, but populate it with new stuff to do, new interiors, etc. It seems like such a waste to build these massive worlds where only like 10% of the map is really utilized for meaningful content, and then throw it away after one game.

gold_drake213d ago

they probably reused most of the assets from the previous game.

FinalFantasyFanatic212d ago

As long as the it feels like a full and complete game, I don't have a problem with asset reuse as long as the reused assets look good in the first place.

LOGICWINS212d ago

Based off of the story trailer they released, it looks like a whole ass uncompromised Yakuza experience to me. They could've charged $70 and I wouldn't have questioned that decision.

Inverno212d ago

It took 6 months and they're charging 50 bucks? Basically confirms that most of the work was already done cause they reused assets and they couldn't let the asking price reflect that?

WayTooManyGames' Top 20 Best Games of 2023

WTMG's Leo Faria: "Ah, 2023. You were a chaotic year in terms of wars, climate change, politics, and other bad news, but when it came to gaming, yet again, despite all odds, you were still able to deliver. Even though games got delayed, Nintendo Switch ports got sent out in the wild running at 10 frames a second, companies got shut down, and publishers tried to come up with new ways to make us fear for the future of the industry, a barrage of great games kept being released at a delightful pace all throughout 2023."

Interesting list. Glad it isn't AAA driven.
