How to Beat Psycho Mantis in Metal Gear Solid Master Collection

Psycho Mantis was a unique Metal Gear Solid boss. Here's how he's been adapted for Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, and how to beat him.

TheBrainZ550d ago

Launches issues aside, at least a new generation of players can now face Psycho Mantis.

The whole "HIDEO" video output f****d with me harder than any of his tricks. That was LITERALLY exactly how my old CRT TV would display that message and it took the full power of attention that little DarXyde had to see that it was an "H" and not a "V". You really had to play this game on one of those old TVs to really appreciate his madness. Almost shat myself when he made the controller move too. Best part of Twin Snakes was when he'd say, "So you like to play Super Smash Bros. Melee?!"

By the time MGS4 came out, I was graduating high school. Literally beat it like 2 days before graduation. And the buildup of YEARS of not seeing this jackass, only to have him lose his mind because you're using an HDD and not a memory card.

Absolute masterclass, having him mind f***k you, then bring him back to be bested by advances in technology. I'm really glad new gamers will get to experience the madness, but man, this game is truly a product of its time. One of the best utilized characters in gaming, bar none.

I was so amazed by the mind reading part back in the days :

You like Castlevania, don't you?
So you like SUIKODEN?

I was like : Wait what ?'

Pulled a Just Monika about 20 years before Just Monika was a thing, lol

Going back to play the original mgs1 must be a chore.

I went back to MGS1 last month. Honestly, the voice acting and game are way beyond it's time. I had a blast. If you have not played it in some time, it's refreshing.

Chocoburger163d ago

Its a masterpiece that has aged so gracefully. The controls may not be modern style, but they don't have to be, they just have to work well and be responsive, which they are.

CrimsonWing69163d ago

You are out your mind if you’re thinking that. It’s still one of the best games ever made.

cooperdnizzle163d ago

Ummmm going back to play one of the best games of my childhood a chore???

Nah nah nah. The game is way ahead of its time and is a better game than half the games they release this day and age.

Love mgs1 and it will always be a great game until the end of time!

Legend in its own right a piece of art that will stand the test of time.

Nope, too late. not on disc. This is destined to digital delisted dustbin of time.

Iras_163d ago

So… where I can replace my v1.0 disc for v2.0?

cooperdnizzle163d ago

Just put the game in and update it, pretty simple.

Iras_141d ago

When I pay $60 for a physical copy „master collection” of 20+ years old games, I expect to have the best possible version on disc not update on my console.

Chocoburger163d ago

This collection was rushed out one year too soon, what a shame. Hoping that Vol. 2 is released in a better state.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 Review - Duuro

Duuro says: "I still like that this Master Collection exists, despite its flaws. It's definitely a time-capsule and if you are hungry to experience the brilliant stealth-action saga on modern consoles, you will find much to love. But you still have to remember that this is just a re-release and what was good back then in terms of controls, might feel rather alien nowadays."
