The way that Chants of Sennaar layers puzzle-solving into language discovery is satisfying and intriguing, and makes for a mostly enjoyable experience.
VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "Chants of Sennaar isn't the first game to explore its world through language, but it's perhaps the most ensorcelling. By harmonizing the dual nature of its puzzles, learning to read the instruction manual and then following it, Rundisc's deceptively enticing core constantly finds new ways of encouraging you to learn about Sennaar's stratified societies. Through its inventive template melding gameplay and world-building, its inspired twist on a biblical tale still captures the Old Testament's mythos and grandeur. Along with a fantastic art style, genuine intrigue, and more, it ultimately translates into a towering achievement."
The latest EDGE review scores include Starfield, Mortal Kombat 1, Cocoon, Lies of P, and more.
Starfield – 6…..ouch!
Cocoon – 9…..great score.
Sea of Stars – 7…..expected higher.
Wondering how long it will take Starfield to become the 'must play' game. Would love to have them deliver on the hype by December.
I'm starting to see a pattern with these edge review scores
Starfield – 6
Crackdown 3 – 5
Gears 5 – 6
Redfall - 6
WTMG's Heidi Hawes: "Chants of Sennaar is a wonderfully refreshing puzzle adventure game. There’s huge satisfaction in making progress without the game holding your hand through every step. It reminds me of Tunic in this regard. You’re given only the basic idea of what to do, and the rest is up to your own powers of observation and deduction in order to figure things out and progress. It’s a shame that the stealth elements fell flat, because it dragged down the pacing in those sections. However, the vast majority of Chants of Sennaar is a remarkably captivating time, and I found myself unable to put it down once I started playing it. I’d love to have more games like this in the future."
