Spider-Man 2’s Glowing PS5 Reviews Gloss Over One Glaring Problem

Spider-Man 2 is widely being hailed as a masterpiece, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have some flaws.

blackblades192d ago (Edited 192d ago )

Yawn, who cares all games has flaws tell something we dont know

RpgSama192d ago

"Forbes"

Ok, now makes sense, move on people.

Eonjay192d ago

Forbes already submitted a review and scored it an 85. Their review was thier opportunity to air any greviences they had. Creating subsequent articles to re-highlight cons is redundant unless the also plan to make an article to re-highlight their pros as well.

TallDarknWavy192d ago

The whiny little b1tch who wrote this article hates it that there's too much stuff to do... meanwhile, none of that stuff is mandatory to get to the main story, which is what he was clamoring for. He's just whining for the sake of it.

peppeaccardo192d ago

The beginning of this game and the battle with Sandman gave me the same vibes of the first time Kratos battled on the titan, with the difference that this game uses modern techniques and technology and hence feels more majestic. Cannot wait to play more. Whoever finds things to nickpick it does it for clicks because Spidey is a jevel of a game even with its derivative structure and gameplay. WEB-ON !!!

DarXyde191d ago

I'm really enjoying the game, but I do have some issues. Overall so far, game is a high 8/10 for me. I really wish the suits did different things and the gadgets seem a bit limited.

The technology that went into this game is absolutely brilliant. I get the sense that Insomniac held back a bit on what they really wanted this game to be. Still outstanding, I need to say. But it really feels like a sequel intended to be a technical showcase (mission accomplished, 100%) instead of a sequel that fully expands upon its predecessor(s).

I don't really mind, still having a blast with the game. Really digging this and SMB Wonder.

il-JumperMT192d ago

people never mention zelda flaws with it has a lot (both botw and ttok)

CosmicTurtle192d ago

Plenty of people do. I am sure you do too.

anast192d ago

Nit picking by game writers means that the devs did well, actually.

-Foxtrot192d ago

The real nitpick stuff is on twitter

It’s crazy the stuff, mostly Xbox fanboys, are trying to bring up

I saw one complain how a can of soda used by NPCs or is thrown near the trash can has a hexagon shaped top.

192d ago
Neonridr192d ago

you mean like bringing up a start screen and saying it sucks?

yeah, mostly Xbox fanboys doing that..

Andrew336192d ago

Marksony7 lol, spiderman 2 is breaking what ground? Not a surprising comment from someone who added sony to their name to make their user name....

Sonic1881192d ago (Edited 192d ago )

@Obscure_Observer

Don't get me started. There's a lot of stuff I can show people with Starfield or Redfall. The enemy A.I. and the companion A.I is horrible in Starfield 😂

Chevalier192d ago

Ouch. Obscure too scared to show Redfall and Starfields even worse AI and bugs trying to win one for his camp and failing miserably as usual. Pretty sure he's a flounder at this point.

Pedantic91192d ago

@Obscure_Observer

Random twitter posts of small random bugs and miniscule polygon count in small random objects (existing in around 90% of video games out there, even if you weren't forcing it to happen i might add), always a good sign of desperation and worthless attempts of FUD.

VariantAEC191d ago

So like 30 bugs most of which no one sees... in the whole game. Two of your videos are nearly carbon copies of eachother.
I personally had one issue with audio desync after Peter obtains the symbiote suit. One issue starting the game underneath the sand (which I found my way out of without restarting). Sitting on a bench at Conie Island and getting stuck (no broken animations or anything there was no prompt to leave the bench and I had to reload... I lost no progress). And one crash after playing for 6-ish hours (again losing no progress).

Some of the bugs featured in the video were from pre-launch code like the horizontal t-pose after death bugs which I believe either IGN or DF pointed out. One video was posted on launch night (Oct 19th, 2020)... probably indicating it contained bugs from pre-launch code.

Nitpicking is that puddlegate crap. This is a perfectly valid criticism.

Tacoboto192d ago

I played another hour this morning doing the random encounters and swinging around, one story mission involving Miles.

The first random encounter was these cult like people outside a van in an alley with some hostages and one needed to be taken to an ambulance.

I did the story mission. Swung around in the area after, got another random encounter - it was the exact same one I just did, same spot and same ambulance to drop him off at after. The civilian (a guy) told me his boyfriend was my biggest fan this time. Only difference

Ninver192d ago

Shut up. The game is widely well received. Take your nit picking elsewhere.

northpaws192d ago

Forbes: "The game is good, but we got a cheque to remind you that it is not perfect, so please focus on the flaw and ruin your experiences please"

goldwyncq192d ago

It says more about you than Forbes if other people criticizing the game in any way ruins your enjoyment of it.

RaiderNation192d ago

Oh Christ, Forbes strikes again. Their bias has to be THE most transparent of all of these media rags. Do they EVER have anything positive to say about PlayStation that doesn't come across as a backhanded compliment or ridiculously nitpicky?

VersusDMC192d ago

Here's some positive Playstation headlines..

"Will Xbox leave Playstation in Starfield's glittering space dust?

"Starfield’ Is About To Generate The Most Annoying Xbox-PlayStation Console War In Years"

"Yes, ‘Starfield’ Is Going To Set The Xbox Narrative The Rest Of This Generation"

Oh wait a minute...

With so many PS5 exclusives to choose from, it can be a little overwhelming to pick which one to play. PlayStation is killing it with the exclusives this year. Exclusive wise, what has xbox released this year?

VersusDMC16d ago

They won't complain about Microsoft not releasing games here but put all their effort into saying that only first party counts. Games like Rebirth and Grandblue Relink don't count. Games published by Sony like Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin don't count because Sony don't own the studios.

It's some narrative building so for when Hellblade 2 come out they can say, seemingly without shame, that Microsoft is actually releasing first party games this year. And claim victory.🙃

Chevalier16d ago

Weird 1st party games didn't matter when Xbox had so little, but, now they're important again? Guess Ark 3, Stalker 2 don't count any more?

KyRo16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

ARK 3 doesn't exist and it's just a timed exclusive. It's also a game that a majority of the ARK player base doesn't want as it's a massive deviation from what people like about the original game

Abnor_Mal16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

Honestly to me it doesn’t matter what they say, they are just finally getting a chance to say all the things PS fan(boy)s were saying to them for the past few years. Let them get that, they deserve a “win” for a change.

The new narrative is that suddenly first party games matter again when awhile ago they didn’t, but that was because they were struggling with the same three games with the occasional fourth or fifth. That games should be everywhere on all platforms since that’s whats happening to theirs. The consoles don’t matter just the ability to play anywhere. Whatever Xbox is doing Sony will soon follow.

They’re not moving the goalpost anymore, but rather just moving the whole damn stadium.

jwillj2k416d ago

Only a incel would care about who published what and who owns who.

If it’s not on the other consoles it’s an exclusive.

Killing what? Where are the 1st party games??
Stellar Blade and FF7 is what I’m seeing this year.. so shallow!!!!

andy8516d ago

Doesn't really matter as long as they're great games. Baffles me why people put an emphasis on 1st party. They're still games you can't play anywhere else this year

Cacabunga15d ago

Andy

PS brand is my favorite because of their stellar first party software.. currently I see absolutely nothing to go crazy for..

CS715d ago

Nonsense.

PS1 and PS2 was built on great third party exclusives like FF, MGS, GTA & Tekken.

raWfodog16d ago

Of course I love the games I’ve played from PS but I don’t believe we need to limit it to ‘exclusive’ to acknowledge that Xbox will be releasing some good games this year also. In that same vein, I believe that Xbox diehards shouldn’t limit their acknowledgment of good PS games to 1st party. There are plenty of good games to go around for everybody.

Tacoboto15d ago

This is a Playstation article about Playstation games and your comment is about Xbox. Can't you just celebrate what PS has without dragging this into console war BS?

ChasterMies15d ago

I don’t think Microsoft is releasing games exclusively on Xbox anymore. They have some timed exclusives that release on Xbox first.

Abear2115d ago (Edited 15d ago )

Returnal, Astro Bot, and Ratchet made having it since day one worth it.

GT7 free updates and Spiderman 2 and others at 60fps have made this last year more than okay.

But yeah, it’s been dry lately. BG3 and third party have made great filler, but we ready for that SOCOM or Killzone announcement and some more 1st party goodness. Crossing fingers for Ghost of Tsushima 2 announcement this summer.

Didn’t know Helldivers was exclusive! Wtf is going on at Xbox that they can’t get these games, series s strikes again.

SonyStyled15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

Sony owns the Helldivers IP. The first was a PS3/Vita/PC game. It was never an Xbox game that they could ‘get’ a decade ago. I’m not sure what the upset is with Xbox here

CS715d ago

Lol, how do you ignore Rebirth one of the best games ever made?

anast15d ago

Looks like they are on par with the previous gens. Solid games all around. Interestingly enough, we can't say they released a bad game yet this gen. Unlike the Quiet Man dustup.

I actually do not mind if Marathon releases on multiple platforms . I just wish that Marathon has a dedicated single player campaign.

DaniMacYo15d ago

Helldivers 2 is exactly what gaming needed. I’m loving it.

People are saying the old one looked better. Can't say I agree though.

CobraKai49d ago

It’s funny cuz they always made Tobey’s lines silver in the old PS2 games too. It’s nice they finally corrected it

BillyCrystals50d ago

I'm probably in the minority but the Raimi Spidey movies have aged so poorly and are BRUTAL to rewatch. Just an unpleasant, cringe-fest with mostly horrible casting. Tobey and Kristen suck so much.

SimpleSlave50d ago

You're most def in the minority. Yeah. Aside from some boneheaded decisions, like having a mask on Willem Dafoe or shoehorning Venom in the Third one, those movies are far more enjoyable and honest than the new Marvel's Spider-Man movies.

As for Tobey and Kristen, they both help ground the characters and make them more relatable and human than the new Disneyfied versions. It's no secret as to why the best parts of the Disney Spider-Man movies are the ones with the characters from the original Trilogy; Dafoe, Tobey and Molina.

The original trilogy is indeed not perfect, but they still have heart and feel like the people behind them actually cared about the property whereas the new version feels like brain numbing been-there-done-that by the numbers Disney affair.

But to each their own.

Storm2350d ago

I love 1 and 2. Haven't watched the new movies (or really any Marvel movies of the last 10+ years, lol).

jwillj2k450d ago

When I rewatch amazing Spider-Man it feels like the drama parts could have been their own movie with only glimpses of him being spiderman. Disney spiderman has no real emotion outside of the ending of the last one.

OtterX50d ago

Yea, Part 3 hasn't aged well, but Part 1 & 2 are still good watches. I really, really liked how they did Sandman in Part 3, it's just a shame that its Venom sucked and pushed Sandman more to the side.

CobraKai49d ago

To each their own is something most people don’t understand. I loved the Tobey movies but disliked the Amazing movies, but it’s all about taste and it’s good that people don’t all have the same tastes
