Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer explained why Game Pass isn't getting the Activision Blizzard games before 2024.
ARK: Survival Ascended has introduced Premium Mods on consoles. Wccftech talked to Studio Wildcard and their partner Overwolf about the rising importance of user-generated content, especially for live service games.
Following a recent interview with Sony, Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann claims the original intent was “unfortunately lost” in the process.
Glad he clarified it but i'm still somewhat skeptical. Plus, his comments about how Ai will revolutionize storytelling were still pretty iffy.
Druckmann claims the tech could 'push the boundaries of storytelling in games.'
I’m more interested in what else he said.
“Neil Druckmann says new Naughty Dog title could ‘redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming’
He also said it has "ethical issues we need to address" but of course that doesn't get the clicks.
I’m all for it. Cuts the time to make a game. Look, Hellblade 2 took 5 years to make, if AI can do that in half the time, as a consumer, I support it.
There making it out like their "trying to be straight with people" and "tell it how it is" like it some sort of favour he's doing us.
Translation: we want your cod money this Xmas so the Activision accounts department all have the fucks in a line.. next year.. we give you cod.
It's ridiculous, they're selling those activation games on their own storefront right now for £59.99 orr whatever
Just make a sale down to zero, they can afford it.
Because when they said all first part day one they didn't know they would acquire all these big publishers.
'Microsoft Gaming CEO', come on we know his name.
"When we finished the Bethesda acquisition, there was this great moment. We were able to put a bunch of the back catalog games [on Game Pass] and celebrate their history. The truth of the matter is that, with Activision Blizzard King, the regulatory process took so long.
And frankly, there was a lot of uncertainty in that process up until really a week before we closed, or the week of, when the CMA finally came down to their decision, that we weren't able to get on that back catalog work. So now that the deal is closed, we're starting that work."
So the answer is in the article, interesting.
I mean... let's just think this through. PC Game Pass is $120/yr.
If I buy COD every year (I do), if they were to put COD on the service, that effectively means I'm getting Game Pass for $50/year. The $70 they would have gotten from me anyway. That's like $4/month. For every other 1st party game their now massive development arm can produce + 3rd party games.
If that's the case I'm going to be a PC Game Pass subscriber.
Something tells me it won't be $120/yr with COD by the time COD gets to Game Pass though, we'll see...
