RoboCop has been badly mistreated by the video game medium. Outside of Data East’s very good 1988 arcade game, studios have condemned RoboCop to appear in mostly lousy licensed video game schlock over the past 35 years.
November’s RoboCop: Rogue City may reverse the cyborg crime fighter’s fortunes, based on a meaty demo released on Steam earlier in October.
A few weeks after officially announcing it on X, Teyon has rolled out New Game Plus for RoboCop: Rogue City in a major update.
From Xfire: "Is Nacon's Head of Publishing making a valid point about the industry being flooded with games, or is this just a way to justify poor performance?"
And the problem is too many people spend money buying cosmetic stuff in free to play games instead of buying full release games.
Robocop was released during a gaming period that is normally flooded with games. That October to December is when most heavy hitters release their games. I did pick Robo and loved it
Pandemic does play a factor. Plus companies release games as soon as their finished. If they could hold out and time it better it would help but most companies don’t have that luxury.
I am going to buy this game soon. I have been busy and always have a backlog from years past so I don’t buy as many games day 1 as I used to but I do want to play this and will order it soon.
from eXputer "Game Director of RoboCop: Rogue City says the team wants to work on some IPs, especially after the success of Terminator and RoboCop games."
I'd love to see them do a Predator game. Based on the first film, not the sequel and certainly not any of the reboots.
Dredd. Come on now, you know you want to see it. Get Karl Urban involved. Give us the Dredd sequel we all want.
Having played the demo (on steam deck) I can't wait until i get my Ps5 version from gamestop. Its such a good game. I wish it had a bit more authentic sounds from the movie but at least they got the voice synth right this time. It needs more heavy walking sound and auto 9 sound but otherwise this is looking to be really well made.
I played the demo on my steam deck. Great game. I have this preordered for my Xbox Series X and Steam deck
Murphy, it's you.
I can already tell I'm gonna love this game, the visual feedback is so nice with all the destruction, ragdoll and physics. I think the gameplay style is going to be really misunderstood tho and will likely get some really critical reviews. But I think what they did here was actually genius. Like you can't make RoboCop move very fast, so they kept him slow keeping it cannon, and the solution was bring the enemies to you, and make the environment dense with interaction so even at a slower pace it's feeding you new things to do at a steady pace. It's basically channeling lightgun shooters like Virtua Cop and Maximum Force.
