Reviews are finally out for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and the game's Metacritic review score means Marvel still hasn't toppled DC.

With the Gotham Knights turning out sub par, hope the Suicide Squad fails as well... So that both Rocksteady and WB Montreal goes back to creating good single player DC games ...

Having the game fail would make it harder for them to get funding for their next game, please don't wish this on them. They already delayed the game a whole year after backlash, so we still have to wait and see how it will turn out.

I think asylum and origins were great. City was good. Knight was horrible.

You can't expect a game to match 96-94 meta apple for apple. Different era and different gen. No need to diminish either game's achievement. Arkham City and Spiderman 2 are both amazing sequels that improved upon their already incredible first parts.

To back that up, there are major websites that adjusted their review scales.

IGN used to have a 100 point system; now it's a 10 point system. I remember GameSpot back in 2004 was razed for giving Halo 2 a 9.4 when IGN gave it like a 9.7 or 9.8

Arkham Asylum was great, but when City came out... wow what a total overhaul that was. Nothing has had that type of night/day difference in scope and scale since.

SM2 is looking to be a great game in itself. Definitely an upgrade over the previous entries. Just from the opening battle with sandman, it gives me god of war 2 vibes with how that one opened with the battle with colossus of rhodes. That is still one of my favorite sequels of all time.

Well Marvel has already beaten DC in sales with Spider man 1 and with just the PS4 sales. PC and PS5 versions hadn't come out yet.

Maybe quit thinking its a competition between the two. Marvel has beaten DC with the live action movies. As for games yes the Batman games were great I love the dark serious tone to them. Insomniac is a great studio with great talent. The first Spiderman game was great and I am not even a big Marvel fan. I am a DC fan who also likes some Marvel characters. And I can't wait for Spiderman 2 and Wolverine when it comes out. And I wish DC would throw a character at Insomniac to see what they can do with that character. Comparing DC to Marvel is like comparing apples to oranges they each have chosen their own route and have taken that route and it works for them. They each have had good games and shitty games no matter what machine it was on. Marvel has wiped the floor with DC when it comes to live action movies. And DC is better at animated movies as for tv shows depends they can be equal or one beats the other. Honestly I don't care I am a DC fan at heart who likes some Marvel characters and story lines.

@Work, Nah the Dark Knight has one stand out incredible performance in Legers Joker, but the film itself is no where near as good. Marvel, before the MCUs phase 4 onwards decline has done a vastly superior job of actually bringing the storytelling in comicbooks to film. Marvel has stomped DC in this regard, its not close.

Just because the review scores are higher doesn't mean that Spiderman isn't just as good if not better.

Even though the Arkham series are still my favorite superhero games. There were different standards back then.

FFS...I am DC all the way, Swamp Thing, the Watchmen, and any comic with Scarecrow, but I would be stupid to think that DC has beaten Marvel. Nothing is toppling Marvel at the moment, not even some Metacritic score from the 1970s.

I don’t know why anyone uses metacritic. It’s more biased than this website. Open critic is way more accurate. This game is better than any of the Arkham games in my opinion. I always have to say this when I give Sony credit, but this is an Xbox guy saying this. With this game, insomniac is proven once again its PlayStations best studio. The efficiency in which they pump out games is incredible. Kudos!

Definitely in the running for best studio. I’m a huge fan of Ghost of Tsushima so I would add Sucker Punch to the equation lately. Plus ND and SSM has made some of the highest quality games ever. It will be nice to see what they have in the works though we know SP is making GoT2 from all accounts.
