The Xbox port of Lords of the Fallen will not be up to parity with other versions at launch

The developer of the fantasy RPG Lords of the Fallen has issued a statement saying the Xbox version of the game won't be up to parity with the other versions at launch, but a patch is in the works.

porkChop562d ago (Edited 562d ago )

The dev statement says an update is coming in the next few days to fix whatever the issue is. The headline and description make it seem like an update is far away.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the content creators who have worked with us to enable the rapid deployment of patches, updates, and performance improvements ahead of tomorrow's exciting launch of Lords of the Fallen.

As such, PC and PlayStation 5 players will be able to enjoy the game as intended. The Xbox version is currently being updated, bringing it to parity with the other platforms, and the patch will release over the coming days."

Where does the headline and description indicate it is far away? It simply says it won't be there at launch and is in the works.

Saying a patch is "in the works" instead of saying it'll launch in a couple days implies very different things. The headline saying the port won't be up to parity "at launch" also implies a longer period of time than a couple days. The first week is literally called the launch week. When I was in journalism school this is the kind of thing they teach you not to do.

Im getting a feeling that the patch delay is related to the Series S. This is just my personal opinion but it’s a reasonable one considering the recent similar issues with Baldur’s Gate 3.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too.
If so Microsoft are in a really awkward position, with more Xbox owners owning the Series S too, It's just going to get worse as the generation progresses.

S2Killinit560d ago

Yeah I was going to say it seems xbox is running into a problem with games having to be optimized for two consoles.

Barlos559d ago

Hopefully. It's bad for the owners but I'm pleased it causes a headache for Microsoft. Horrible company.

Hofstaderman560d ago

Another one....its the Series S. Jack can be done, it makes up 75% of the Series sales to date. Keep on trucking Phil and company.

More like they keep making claims, challenges, and failing them.

Chevalier560d ago

Guess that's what the S stands for

Demon's Souls isn't Soulslike. It's the original Souls game. WTF? And Elden Ring?

Another Crab's Treasure simply is not.

All the journos claiming things are "Soulslike" simply don't know what that word means.

GeeEssEff75d ago

The term “Soulslike” has become ridiculously diluted. I have seen it used for games just because they are difficult.

Cacabunga75d ago

Reminds me of Doom like back in the days for every FPS game

blackblades75d ago (Edited 75d ago )

Yeah, souls, souls lite, souls like same goes for rogue.

anast74d ago

It's either AI or the writer doesn't know the subject matter.

robtion75d ago

I've played all of these bar the Crab one so not a very accurate title.

Goodguy0175d ago (Edited 75d ago )

Nioh 1+2 imo are the best souls clone. Love the melee combat and ki system, really hoping team ninja doesn't abandon the IP and continue with a new title, hell just give us your take on the western fantasy setting for a new nioh game.

robtion74d ago

Yes Nioh 2 in particular is great. Also Wo Long (which is basically Nioh 3).

qalpha74d ago

Should have included 'Lies of P'. Seriously fun game.

Nacho_Z74d ago

That's what I was going to say, great game. Best non From Soulslike I've played.

Lords of the Fallen 2 PC release will be handled by Epic Games, which is bad news for Steam gamers

A sequel to the excellent action RPG Lords of the Fallen is coming in 2026 to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game will be published by Epic Games on PC, which means it probably won't be coming to Steam.
