Pillars of Eternity 3 with a Big Budget Is Definitely Something Josh Sawyer Would Like to See

Josh Sawyer would like Xbox to greenlight Pillars of Eternity 3 with a massive budget, and the community certainly seems into the idea.

At $120 million, I doubt it. Maybe half of that, though.

"At $120 million, I doubt it. Maybe half of that, though."

Many studios went from small indie-scale teams from full AAA developers under Xbox.

Hellblade II is AAA
Clockwork Revolution is AAA
State of Decay III is AAA

Even Arkane Austin had another AAA project greenlit even after Redfall´s fiasco.

Josh Sawyer is a RPG legend so I´m 100% positive that Phil will greenlit whatever project he has in mind.

Oh you mean the State of Decay 3 that is rumored to not release till 2027? Like Hellblade 2 that is nowhere near having a release date? lol Probably 2025 or later too?
Clock Revolution that is god knows when it'll release or even what it is lol

Yeah best to stay away from bid budget, MS studios don't seem to know how to handle them.

@Vengeance

So your argument against them NOT being big budget is that they have a long development time?….

You do understand that the budget is directly tied to how long it takes to make the game right…? (And how many people too of course)

Obscure_Observer593d ago

@Vengeance1138

Excuse me, but what first party games you´ll be playing in 2024?

Alexious593d ago

Not Xbox games, as he sounds like a PS fanboy.

lelo2play593d ago

With the popularity of Baldur's Gate 3, Microsoft could make this happen.

silkylove593d ago

I could actually see this happening after such a gross miscalculation on BG3. Xbox could throw money at Sawyer and tell him to make a BG3 clone in the Pillars universe.

I would start to get a bit jell if Xbox made this happen.

maniacmayhem593d ago

A bigger budget, sure but nothing bloated like a lot of these triple A games are costing.

This game just needs some polish in the rough areas (graphics, some game mechanics) other than that they're fine.

Terry_B593d ago

Add gamepad support for the pc version of 1 and 2 before that.

neutralgamer1992593d ago

Yes please as RPG fans we all want this

Hideo Kojima is a little bummed as Death Stranding 2 is testing way better

"I'm not interested in appealing to the mass market, or selling millions of copies."

I’m replaying the first game it’s great. It’s not for everyone no doubt. There are still a lot of people playing it.

-Foxtrot9h ago

Then why do a sequel straight away?

Why not something else like maybe a horror game similar to Silent Hills but rebranded into a new IP.

Reverse psychology...ok I won't buy it then.

To be honest, he is in a great situation if he doesn't have to make a mass market product. Means he can make what he wants. I think that's great.

Palworld preview - ChristCenteredGamer

CCG writes - "Overall, while it certainly has similarities to Pokémon, it's more a survival-style game that happens to have collectible monster-style features and both are pretty fun. Technically, aside from a few minor gripes with controls and performing certain actions, it's pretty solid and quite stable. Morally, it's got some mild if cartoonish violence with little else of note. Overall, I enjoy Palworld, and if you want a survival sim mixed with collectible monsters to make your pals, this is a great game with those themes."
