I will if they release a physical version.

BeHunted4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

Digital games are cheaper than Physical Discs.

RonnySins3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

But you can’t sell digital games after you finish playing them.

Nyxus3d ago

My latest purchases were:
Forspoken for €15 (€32 in the PS Store)
Tactics Ogre Reborn for €25 (same price in the PS Store)
Valkyrie Elysium for €20 (€70 in the PS Store)

Kornholic3d ago

It is so rare that it is the exception rather than the rule.

Digital games also have no value, so it is really never the case that they are cheaper in the end.

BeHunted3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

@Nyxus

That’s because Sony prevents retailers from selling PlayStation Digital games, in other words, it’s another form of Monopoly.

Lol COD ghosts is still like $60 digitally. They can set whatever price they want for however long they want.

Also, the OPTION to have both digital and physical is obviously far better than digital only, regardless of which is cheaper.

BeHunted3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

@Spicelicka

Call of Duty: Ghost is currently $19.79 on the Xbox Store.

Nyxus3d ago

@ BeHunted: but at least I have the option to buy physical games, where different stores are competing against each other which means lower prices. I don't but digital games so that's not my problem to be honest.

frostypants3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Digital games are cheaper for the publishers to get to consumers. They are NOT cheaper for consumers though because their is never pressure for retailers to unload inventory. So they wind up costing more for anything but new releases (for which consumers pay the same as physical despite the savings for the publisher) AND lose out on the inherent advantages of a physical copy. You're getting fleeced. Steam sales for PC are nice but the really good deals there are from small publishers who could never afford physical publishing in the first place.

TL;DR: the "savings" are all pocketed by the publishers and the digital store owners. You pay the same, they're making more margin than ever.

Knightofelemia3d ago

@BeHunted

Digital does go cheap to a certain point based on what the platform wants to sell it at and what the developer wants to sell it at. Part of the sale of the game goes to the platform it's on whether Epic, Steam, Playstation or Xbox. Second part is if your account magically gets banned you lose out on the library of games you own digitally. Everybody knows the physical cousin is going to be cheaper. People dump the game at pawn shops and even thrift stores who just want it gone so they will sell it cheap. With physical companies like Walmart have a dump bin where the game goes after its passed it shelf life meaning after its been on their shelf so long when a new game takes its place. Also with physical if the game is crap I can literally take that turd in and trade it towards another game or sell it second hand on say Marketplace. Not everybody wants digital I myself will always choose physical because I like to collect and have a sense of ownership.

Godmars2903d ago

Meh,

If a game supporter's going to the trouble to begging others to buy it when there's only one option, maybe the company should offer more options. Like physical versions.

MEGANE3d ago

U r right, I can share my games with my wife ps5, they go everywhere I go as long as i can log in, buy them on sale, and PSN does not charge me taxes In FL… I have not intentions of getting rid of my games, and they are way cheaper always on sale.

Ashunderfire863d ago

I don’t know if you are living under a rock 🪨 but you do realize that Sony is being sued for overpricing games in the PS store right?

babadivad3d ago

On Xbox maybe. Games on Playstation Store and Nintendo rarely are.

1Victor3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

@behunted:”Digital games are cheaper than Physical Discs.”

I can go and boot up and play my metal gear solid 3 game any time I want on my console but a digital game works only till the developers servers work then it’s BYE BYE TO YOUR FAVORITE “DIGITAL GAME”.

shinoff21833d ago (Edited 3d ago )

That's not true at all. You just need patience. Physical almost always ends up cheaper then digital. I just picked up gta 5 for ps5. I paid 15 bucks. The psn has it for 20 still. There's numerous games like this example. Digital in my experience usually ends up costing more

Anyway yea no , will not be buying Alan wake 2 unless it's released physically. Please release physically and I'll buy it.

Choice is key to this all.

FinalFantasyFanatic3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Often not always true, sometimes the physical disc is cheaper than digital, I wouldn't say "digital games are cheaper" as an absolute.

@babadivad,

The best deals I've ever had on Switch games was through physical copies, especially on first party games.

This will probably come as a shock to you, Hunted, so please sit down before you continue reading.

Was about to write the same thing. Give me a physical copy and I will buy it.

XiNatsuDragnel3d ago

I would get it in heartbeat 💓 if it was physical.

seanpitt233d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Yup not supporting digital only would have bought it if released on physical looks like a lot more people in the same boat if the sales numbers are low

Snookies124d ago

I would buy it if it were on Steam... It would give me a reason to go through the original and the DLC that I own, but never got around to playing.

VersusDMC3d ago

Epic published Alan wake 2 so i doubt it will ever be on steam. If there are games published by Epic that have made it to Steam then maybe there's a chance.

Amplitude3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Yeah. I'm just patiently waiting for the Epic store to die like all the other launchers that have attempted to compete with Steam. I aint contributing to their survival nor am i risking my money by putting it into a store that I wish for the death of lol

KeeseToast3d ago

@Amplitude
Yeah. I also want Valve to stay a monopoly so that they never have to put any effort on their storefront and we can keep the horrendous Steam UI forever and ever
