No Man's Sky Now Uses Foveated Rendering On PSVR 2

The Echoes update overhauls space combat and adds foveated rendering on PSVR 2 to dramatically improve visual quality.

PS VR 2 going from strength to strength. High quality exclusives and quality of life updates like this, will only make the headset stronger.

That eye tracking as standard makes a difference for games and for pushing for better visuals. PC should have had this as standard years ago so that high end graphics cards wouldn't be as necessary. And Quest Pro having it was worthless as most didn't own it and Quest 2 didn't have eye tracking.

I'll definitely check out the update.

They just added a new storyline.

I haven't played the new update, but the narrative was always your own with some guide posts to 2 separate destinations: the Atlas Path and the Artemis Path.

It is insane. Went from unplayable for me. To one of the most immersice VR experiences I ever had.

I have to give it another try! NMS was a huge disappointment for me in VR because it was such a visual downgrade from the regular mode. I'm glad it improved.

There have been incremental patches that improved it quite a bit - made it OK imo.
But this one is like night and day.

Psvr2 lenses SUCK! Why would you go from decent lenses on psvr to god awful god ray laden Fresnel lenses. They cheaped out badly on an otherwise forward thinking design.

Fresnel lenses let significantly more light through to the eyes than pancake lenses do. That’s one of the main selling points of PSVR2 - it is significantly brighter at the eye than most other headsets, and with the OLED blacks it makes the contrast very intense and realistic. A worthy trade IMO. The filter they put on the panels to hide the screen door effect and thus having a shimmer/sparkle texture that is sometimes annoying is the bigger downside.

In GT7 when you get the sun in your eyes sometimes, it kinda feels real because of the brightness. Pretty neat.
