GT7 release was controversial to say at least, as Usercore on Metacritic shows.

We´ll see how FM will perform. If Turn 10 put out some scumbag monetization crap, gamers will give them hell, and FM Usercore might be even lower than GT7.

I agree with you on this one.i see no problem with gaas for racers seems like a perfect fit with so many cars and the customized nature of cars it's alot of after launch content (that fans would actually want to pay for) to be had and work ain't for free so if the devs put the work in and charge reasonable I see no problems with this model being applied to this type of game.

As long as the base game isn't comprised by this it's fine.

Halo Infinite's had a pretty good 2023 if you actually pay attention to what's been going on with it. It was the leadership until the end of 2022 that messed things up so bad, issues that Turn10 hasn't had.

Whatever their made-up reasons are, there's always a better solution that's been done countless times.
It's just the single worst way to prevent piracy, increase digital sales over physical, and to prevent having these games be playable in the future so people buy sequels. The rate they've been dropping is increasing as they realize people still buy this trash unfortunately

I've been replaying a lot of PS3 games in RPCS3 recently and it sucks to know that i'll never be able to go back and play, say, any of the recent Modern Warfare campaigns once the servers are down. Every game that requires an internet connection for single player deserves to fail spectacularly and it sucks that they dont

This is a gift and a curse. For one early adopters of this game get the worst version of it. For two, the game should be hella awesome over time for those that are patient. They also got to learn from the mistakes GT7 made at launch…but GT7 NOW compared to launch is a very different game in every sense.

GT7 wasn't broken at launch and it had the big name tracks there day one. GT7 only added a couple tracks since launch and silently upgraded existing ones to better reflect the current layouts and trackside scenery.

Talk about GT7's monetization model was higely exaggerated to the point of literal absurdity, GT7's microtransactions and game economy didn't radically change from launch. Additionally it was never anywhere near as expensive to buy cars with real money in GT7 as it was in previous Forza games. A 20,000,000 credit car in GT7 would set you back $200 before taxes, which sound egregious. Until you hear what it costs to buy a 1,250,000 credit car in FM7 with real money. A single 1.25 million credit car in FM7 would set you back $1,923 in Forza Token microtransactions.

Cars that are far less expensive in terms of in-game credits cost way more in real life money in FM7 than in GT7.

It gets worse... GT7's 20 million credit cars sound really impossible to acquire, but they're not. There is a few race events that pay out half a million credits for racing around 30 minutes and there's a single event that pays out 1.5 million credits for 1 hour of racing. That means in 13 to 14 hours depending on the events you choose you can buy a 20 million credit car. If you grind for 4.5 hours for 3 days you can earn 20.4 million credits in GT7. There aren't very many cars that cost 20 million credits in GT7.

On the other hand FM7 has custom race events that can pay out nearly 1.6 million credits... if you race around the Burmese Alps for just over 1 hour (60 laps) and you use three double down mods in a single event otherwise you need to race 3 times as long. Not sure how the individual on Reddit was awarded 270,000 Cr drivatar difficulty bonus... driving alone (just 1 car on the track, no opponents). He also has a VIP bonus... so if you raced without mods or the VIP bonus (a $20 paid add-on in and of itself) you would earn 540,000 Cr every hour.

There are over 700 cars to collect in FM7 and still less than 600 in GT7 so no matter how you slice it you have to grind a lot to keep on building your garage in either game but as far as MTX are concerned FM7 has far more expensive MTX than GT7 and it's literally one order of magnitude difference in cost, going from the max $200 per car for GT7's most expensive cars (which cost 20 million credits) to nearly $2,000 per car for FM7's most expensive cars (which can cost 1.25 million credits).

I'm not understanding people's response here. GaaS isn't a new thing, and Forza games have had it going back as far as Horizon 3, and it's worked well for the series. If it's like any of the previous games, it just means that we'll be getting new cars every month for free (usually as part of the playlist rewards), and new tracks every few updates.

For all the Halo Infinite comments, since they've replaced 343's management, the game has been seeing a huge surge in players. They've been injecting new maps and game modes almost on a weekly basis, so there's a huge amount of things to do online whether you want hyper-competitive matches (ranked), more laid-back matches (unranked slayer, objectives, BTB) or wacky casual matches (infection, action sack and Fiesta).

The games had updates, but not live service garbage until recently. And I absolutely grew to hate it in FH5. Having to log in and and do basically the same races over and over just to collect the cars that get added. Can't take a week off or you miss it and either need to wait years for them to recycle the season or spend millions of credits a long time refreshing the auction house just to try and find the cars you missed. A video game shouldn't be a job in order to keep up and an obligation.

It seems clear that it's light on campaign content up front because they're going to rotating in and out events rather than just give you the content up front. If they were going to just add the stuff over time, fine. But don't remove stuff just to feed the fear of missing out.

It’s their entire motive right now though. MS / XBOX is almost entirely service based on some level already. Look at Windows 11 (service), MS Office (365 service), XCloud, GamePass.
