Clay Fighter
Darkstalkers
Ehrgeiz
Final Fight
..and so on ;)

FinalBoss261d ago

Art of Fighting...We are going to have a Fatal Fury, we can have hope for this one too :)

Number1TailzFan261d ago

I only had the CD version of Final Fight but yeah great game, great music. Challenging too.

The Desert/Jungle Strike games need to return too.

Asplundh261d ago (Edited 261d ago )

I remember playing Clay Fighters a lot, honestly it wasn't great and it got worse with each sequel.

Snookies12261d ago

Bushido Blade needs to be on that list of fighters!

Terry_B261d ago

I agree, but Bloody Roar is higher in my priority lol..due to that already super fun indie fighting game hellish Quart which is still on early access

Onimusha and Legacy of Kain! Excellent choice.
I would add Shenmue indeed.

gold_drake261d ago

breath of fire

shadow hearts / koudelka
dot hack series.

and many more u cant think of right now haha

FinalFantasyFanatic261d ago

Maybe Shadow Hearts/Koudelka can make a return now that Penny Blood is in the works (worked for 100 Heroes/Suikoden).

I'd really like them to do a Dot Hack compilation/quadrillion pack, and having Breath of Fire return would be good too, it didn't deserve to go out with a whimper (I'm talking about that mobile game they made for it).

gold_drake261d ago (Edited 261d ago )

haha you dont need to clarify your points, i know xD

i know theres a .hack project on the way, but no one really knows what it is. from qhat ive just read, the vice Pres. of CC2 wants a remake of the four games, but Bandai holds the licensing and hasnt given the greenlight for it.

and yehz bof didnt deserve the the ceap games at the end

RaidenBlack261d ago

Quake (not including the re-releases)
F.E.A.R
TimeSplitters
Hexen
Brothers in Arms
Bad Company
Resistance
Legacy of Kain
Midnight Club
Burnout
... many more

porkChop261d ago

The Legend of Dragoon
Infamous
Heretic/Hexen
Sleeping Dogs
Midnight Club
Scarface
Lost Odyssey
Syphon Filter
Red Faction
Snatcher

shinoff2183261d ago

Porkchop you probably know already but did you know they worked on a scarface 2.

porkChop260d ago

Yeah I've seen footage of it. Activision cancelled it after they bought Sierra. I still think that's crazy. Scarface was successful enough that Sierra planned on making Scarface 2, 3, 4, etc. It's wild that Activision would just cancel it like that.

A New Banjo-Kazooie Game Is Exactly What We Need Right Now

Dave writes, "Banjo-Kazooie is a perfect franchise to bring back. Re-jigging it for modern consoles or creating a sequel will breathe life into a beloved series that has brought joy to millions of gamers for the last 25 years."

A new Conker would be nice too, and a new Diddy Kong Racing would make a nice change as well over the standard racers like Mario Kart.

Sonyslave3292d ago

Toy n bob can probably do since rare don't want too.

VincentVanBro292d ago

I’ve been waiting my whole life for another banjo kazooie sequel! Imagine a new entry with all of the ingenuity and new ideas they would have after modern platformers like Mario Odyssey

maniacmayhem291d ago

We had one with Yooka Laylee and it was trash and hardly anyone bought it. Let the nostalgia die, as much as I like platformers, we don't need another Banjo Kazooie, the game was mid at best.

Christopher291d ago

I'm of like mind. I think the appeal that we might have had for these games was a bit more nostalgic and that the advancement of the industry has led people further away from Banjo and more towards Fortnite and the like. People still enjoy the game, but it's a niche market because the industry moved on to other things.

Retroman291d ago

Industry moved on to other things. Such as??? Same boring open world shooters again and again and again and again same damn format with different titles. Same Damn shit since 2006 either military style fps or Viking solider, riding on horses, driving around with a car, sailing in a ship, to much Unnecessary exploring, to much side quest etc.
My Personal Opinion they all feel the same boring.

Christopher291d ago

Sorry Retroman, no individual controls the direction of the industry. It is what it is because people spoke with their wallets.

Number1TailzFan291d ago

Completely agree Retroman, most games today are simply better looking versions of the same stuff, recycled over and over. When they do something new, like for example Half Life 2 did in 2004 with the physics and very interactive world, it was fresh and exciting. Now many games take what came before and update the graphics and that's about it, or sometimes have less stuff than in the previous games even.

--Onilink--290d ago (Edited 290d ago )

Well that doesnt mean a good one cant be made.
Nintendo has continued to great make 3D Platformers, while not exactly the same Ratchet is not an entirely different genre either. Psychonauts 2 was great as well.
There is potential for a good Banjo game with the right developer.
That said, within MS probably only Double Fine or Toys for Bob I think could pull it off, Rare should stay far away from it, they are a very different team now

DarkZane291d ago

Just give up, leave Banjo-Kazooie in the past. They will never be able to recreate what made it and Banjo-Tooie good on N64 today, especially not by being owned by Microsoft.

purple101291d ago

The glory days of 007 Goldeneye ( with rumble Pak)

Perfect dark with ram expansion card.(but only really for 4 controller multiplayer )

Diddy kong racing & banjo

Those were all gems I miss those times, but let them go. Re-visiting your childhood is never as good as you think.

Former Rare Dev Say There's Not An Audience For A New Banjo-Kazooie

While discussing Banjo-Kazooie's 25th anniversary, Grant Kirkhope, a composer who worked on a ton of Rare games in the past, said that he doesn't think there's an audience for Banjo-Threeie.

Unfortunately, the only modern 3D-Platformers that sells extremely well is Mario. Ratchet and Clank also does well too, but it sells substantially less than 3D Mario titles.

coolbeans300d ago

But you're forgetting that's where Game Pass can come in. You can now scale it between sales and general user retention.

coolbeans298d ago

@Flakegriffin

???

Where am I wrong?

FallenAngel1984300d ago (Edited 300d ago )

Ratchet & Clank, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, SpongeBob, Psychonauts, A Hat in Time, LittleBigPlanet, Kirby, It Takes Two, Sonic the Hedgehog & Pac-Man have had successful modern 3D platformers. A game doesn’t need to sell better than Mario to justify its existence

MadLad300d ago (Edited 300d ago )

Exactly.

The simple fact that Playtonic - a studio comprised of ex-Rare devs of the 64 era - created a highly successful Kickstarter based purely off of what was a spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie with Yooka Laylee show me that announcing a legitimate Banjo 3 should be far more than viable today.
Hell, the Playtonic team actually said they'd do it if Microsoft allowed them.

Now we have so many new and throwback 3D platformers doing well. There's obviously a solid market for it.

StormSnooper299d ago (Edited 299d ago )

Astrobot. Best platformer I have every played was Astrobot Rescue Mission.

neomahi299d ago

But that's how this dev is probably conditioned by Microsoft to think though, and this would be the result

StormSnooper299d ago

Please don't forget AstroBot.

Astrobot Rescue mission on PSVR was the greatest platformer in history for me. And I am a Mario fan.

cthulhucultist299d ago

There are other games that have sold well.

Newest 3d Kirby sold over 6 million copies (rightfully so-amazing game).
Sonic Frontiers sold over 3.5 million copies.
Psychonauts was also Double Fine's best selling game
Crash Bandicoot Trilogy reportedly sold over 10 million copies
Same for It Takes Two (10 million copies).

I believe there is a market there, especially for a game carrying the legacy of Banzo.

The success of Crash Bandicoot 4 disproves this notion

A dormant series can have potential to return and find great success with audiences old and new

toadie299d ago

Cash failed. It's estimated to have sold only around 2 million units. Definitely not even close to 10 to make it a success.

FallenAngel1984299d ago

A game doesn’t need to sell 10 million to be a success

luckytrouble299d ago

Tell that to major publishers. I highly doubt SE is the only company that can look at 3.5 million sales for a game and still label it a failure, while the lower the number goes, the more a suit can justify their time is better spent elsewhere.

There is a reason we haven't seen Crash 5 announced at this point, and it isn't because Crash 4 was considered successful.

FallenAngel1984299d ago

I can list hundreds of games that haven’t sold 10 million that are still considered successful

Since when did 10 million become the barometer

luckytrouble298d ago

Your ability to miss the point is amazing. 10 million isn't the measure for success, but that's because there is no standard number. It all depends on what the game cost to make, distribute, and market. For some games, 10 million will be required to actually make it a success. For others, 1 million is an absolute knockout.

Someone stated Crash 4 only sold 2 million and as such was considered a failure. All things considered, per Activision's expectations and the total lack of follow up beyond a new generic Crash party game, that assessment seems pretty bang on. You pulled 10 million out of your ass to act like you were making a well crafted point when you were basically saying nothing at all.

FallenAngel1984298d ago (Edited 298d ago )

No shit the cost of the budget of a game would need a higher amount of unit sales. A new Banjo-Kazooie game isn’t going to have so high a budget that 10 million would be a necessity. Way to validate my point.

I can’t find any article that states how much it sold in total, just how successful it started out as.

We have yet to receive a follow up to Super Mario Odyssey, it took Sonic Forces 5 years to get a follow up, and it took 5 years after Ratchet & Clank ‘16 to get another title in the franchise. It’s clear that development time on modern 3D platformers take longer than before.

You must be illiterate if you think I was first the one who brought up 10 million. I was responding to toadie bringing up that amount for some absurd reason. Nice job reinforcing why that amount is absurd btw.

Immagaiden300d ago (Edited 300d ago )

No audience?

Yookah-Laylee broke Kickstarter records for a reason. Even if the actual game didn’t live up to expectations, you can’t tell me modern audiences have no interest in Banjo-Kazooie.

Not to mention that that the characters’ SSBU reveal was praised by a wide array of people, making the franchise even more well known

If he were talking about if this game were made to be exclusive to Xbox platforms he may have a point. However I’d tbis were also brought to Switch like Ori and Minecraft it’d find a huge success

closed_account300d ago

The real issue is they went and built Nuts and Bolts, which is not what fans wanted - a vehicle construction game. Had they stuck to a straightup platformer, which fans were craving, it could have done much better, akin to Yookah Laylee.

SullysCigar300d ago

They could do something with the franchise, but it would need to move with the times. The games were awesome back in their day, but I'm not sure they'd do well today without a substantial overhaul - even then, I'm not sure the franchise legacy holds enough weight with the target audience to do great unless it was limited to a small-budget affair.

Godmars290300d ago (Edited 300d ago )

Maybe because they've never established or kept to a basic gameplay formula. There's more of a "we need this to be our Mario/Sonic/Ratchet" than something with true organic appeal.
