Not every game is going to be for you. This is for people who enjoy D&D and tabletop roleplaying. If you didn't enjoy the Divinity games this is definitely not going to be for you. Just like I don't like football so I will never play a Madden game just because they are popular.

It's a turn based game.
There are people who love it, its for them.

I have no time for turn based games so I don't buy it.

So many games to play right now, and Starfield in a few weeks as well.

There’s plenty of real time action games out there. Turn based is about strategy. It’s like a complicated game of chess. You have to plan ahead and use what you have in the best way possible.
It’s not for everyone. But if you really give it a shot, you might enjoy the tactical gameplay.

I never played one too and it seemed confusing from the vids but i bought it and it's actually not that confusing. It's a little slow but the story choices, characters, and cinematics make up for it.

It's really no harder than any other strategy focused game. In fact, I'd say it's easier since there are so many ways to accomplish the same thing. I used diplomacy with an owlbear to get out of their den w/o getting murder hobo'd because I keep speak with animals up. I also lied my way past so many goblins who are truly gullible. Heck, I even talked my way out of finding a bugbear and ogre doing something intimate and not killing me for it.

But, if that doesn't work, then there's shooting barrels of fire, teleporting around, shoving people off roofs, alchemist fire, charming them, and just relying on Shadowheart to keep my butt alive when I go down.

I played the originals back in the day but yeah compared to the overwhelming majority of modern games, this game is really difficult, this isn't just combat difficulty but overall accessibility too. I had to google how to change my party for example. You are forced to figure out so much of the systems, this isn't necessarily a bad thing but for the console release, they really need to do a lot of QoL improvements.

Yeah, for a game with so many things you can do it’s extremely lacking in tutorial information as you play. Probably the number one complaint I have with it after a handful of hours in.

I wouldn't call it difficult, more along the lines of a high learning curve. I was having trouble in combat at first but after learning the systems and how to use the environment, combat has been easier

God forbid a gamer must think. It took me a bit but I got the hang of things and now I’m breezing through most encounters.

I didn't realize the late EA versions must have defaulted to a lower difficulty. I remember very early on thinking it was hard, and the last EA version being pretty easy. I thought they just made adjustments. After launch I set it to the highest and after you're on the ground you fight those 3 remaining brains. They wiped me out instantly.

I think it's more the onoarding that scares newcomers. There's a lot of systems that you need to learn, which is something that doesn't really change with an easy mode.

Not that I mind, I think it's super cool that people are getting excited about a fairly complicated and dense crpg with (as far as I understand) a hostile/indifferent ui.

Is it like Divinity Original Sin 2? I know Larian did that one as well so I’ve been keeping an eye on this because I never played the first two, I read a lot of Forgotten Realms as a kid though. Anyhoo, for me, DOS 2 had a steep learning curve but once I got it it was incredible. Every combat encounter taking 20 minutes or longer took some getting used to, but I really loved everything about that game. The music, graphics, story, world… Absolutely wonderful game.

That's what I'm afraid too, I liked the divinity 2 but it beat my ass to the point I couldn't handle it, I admit that I didn't invest the time that it might need for me to learn though...

Divinity had difficulty spikes too. I'd usually roll back a previous save take a different path and come back later, better equipped. Phenomenal game

I felt the same about DOS as well and it put me off playing it for a couple of years. Finally gave it another crack and when you realize all the stuff you can do with the environment you get that 'click' moment and from there on its an absolute blast. BG3 is no different!

Huge fan of the old Baldurs Gate games and Divinity so I’m not worried about it when I play it on PS5 in a few weeks. My one gripe is no physical copies as of now hopefully that changes for PS5 in the future. It will be one of the very few games I buy digitally

I thought it would be simple Hack and Slash game
