No pre-load is ridiculous. It should be standard for digital games now days.

It's been explained by the studio I believe that Steam isn't allowing pre-load due to early access being thing, meaning if they pushed it out, they're essentially releasing the game earlier since they'd be updating the EA build to the full build in the process

The workaround would be to lock the game from being playable and release a patch at launch, but this sounds like something they weren't anticipating and if that's the case, probably would cause more issues than just holding off until release.

Well the poster put XBox, PS4, PS5 tags.. so those do or don't have pre-load in September?

If this only relates to the PC version, it should only have a PC tag.

Alternatively - the devs work through to the end and release the game when it's done instead of delaying it X days just to say they offer a preload.

I'm a PC gamer so am a bit out of the loop when it comes to physical. Why do you prefer it? Is it just nicer to have a physical thing?

The collection aspect is defintiely an element, but also the preservation side of things. It means I always have a copy that I can play down the line (I often return to older games and my older systems)

If the digital storefront closes, or the game is removed from the store for whatever reason, I still have my copy.

I also like to have the ability to lend it, sell it or trade it if I want to.
