No you don't. Larian Studios' writers know exactly how to do origin stories, they are miles ahead of the SE fanfiction level writers of today, except for Yoko Taro's, Naoki Yoshida's and Yuji Horii's teams, which are on par with the best in business.
This makes no sense for BG3. Your whole journey in the game is based on your character, whether it's a custom character or one of the optional companions (btw, Minsc is an NPC, not a companion). Decisions you make throughout the game affect later interactions and options and are tied to very specific choices and factions.
Let alone that summary implies that you should be able to play story elements way outside of the scope of the current game itself. How many full fledged and unique story lines in a 3d worlds with its own NPCs, dialogue, and choices are we expecting here? Sure, let's create massive backstory elements for each companion, which could be 10-15 hours long?

just sounds like they want BG3 to be something else than what they're going for. If the author played DoS2 he would know they can do origin stories like no other.
sorry but that sounds like it will completely break the immersion and momentum
the better way to do it is once you recruit someone and gain their trust etc they drip feed their story to you / trigger on certain events.....just like larian did with DOS which author said he played....and likewise when you do something the character doesnt like they let you know and potentially leave the party too, way more realistic and immersive
