The internet is full of trolls. It’s best to just ignore them and go about your business.

phoenixwing294d ago

I'll go one step further and say life is full of trolls.

HyperMoused293d ago

Ill go one step further again, trolls are full of troll

4Sh0w293d ago

'meh welcome to the internet.

blackblades294d ago

Its hard to ignore msot times. Over time it can slowly eat away your mental health. Also I bet its not just common trolling probably other crap.

Charlieboy333293d ago

"Over time it can slowly eat away your mental health"...only if you let it.

blackblades293d ago

@Charlieboy
Not everyone can, as you can see my the suicide rate.

RpgSama294d ago

People need to just let go and vote with their money, they like the changes or are indifferent to the changes, buy the game, do not like the changes do not buy the game.

I love this new FF by itself, it's FF enough for it to feel part of the franchise, do not mind it not being Turn Based, I mean, for anyone that wants a great turn based RPG buy trails of Reverie probably the best Turn based RPG around.

Plenty of options for anyone that does NOT want to play this game.

FinalFantasyFanatic294d ago

I've noticed the Trolling has gotten worse in the last few years, even when you're not salty or upset about something, some people try hard to (sometimes unsuccessfully) troll people and it's sad.

Lightning77293d ago (Edited 293d ago )

It's not always that easy especially when you have PR looking at social Media for feedback. Weather that's through there own website or other major media platforms ppl ha song nothing but stupid things to say.

Sometimes it's hard to decipher who's trolling and who's giving negative but fairly criticized feedback.

DarXyde293d ago

Correct, it's easier to ignore it... But it can be extremely difficult when you're a public facing figure of a massive franchise. This is about his body of work and depending on your culture, you place a lot of meaning in that. Clearly, he really cares which is why he's scrolling social media for feedback.

Cory Barlog wept when he saw the metacritic score for God of War 2018. It meant that much to him to see the work his team put in be so positively received.

A ton of work, stress, and manpower goes into these projects. Years of work. I don't think it's as easy as disengaging with it, especially when he wants to know what's wrong. I find this is attitude very constructive. Then you've got some muppets online who just want to be contrarians and not helpful in the process of making your work better.

I don't know, mate. That would rub me the wrong way too.

I mean, the game is so far away from a traditional ff game, so obviously you'd get negative feedback from old fans. I myself couldn't bring myself to play any more after 10hrs. Its just an unga bunga DMC clone heavily inspired by mideavil western RPGs and TV shows. It really only has the boss fights going for it. The filler stuff in between boss fights are such a bore. Story and characters are incredibly dull. Combat is so terribly repetitive and easy. No strategy involvement, barely any traditional rpg elements. If you're defending this game, you're either a zoomer or a playstation fanboy, I'm sorry. VII remake was so much better and I appreciate they also tried to appeal to old fans as well. Can't wait for Rebirth.

Welp, they got my $70 so what can I do?

Snookies12294d ago

None of the things you brought up are factual, other than some slower moments being in the game. It's fine to say the game is just not for you, but to say the characters are bad, the combat is bad, and proceed to say that anyone defending it is a zoomer or a fanboy... These characters have more depth than pretty much any in the entirety of the franchise to date. The combat is also nothing like Devil May Cry, and expands immensely by the time you hit late-game. I will agree there are some boring moments that could have been handled better within the main story. Regardless, the way you've worded your "complaints" are very childish. Using terms like "unga bunga DMC clone, zoomer, PlayStation fanboy."

Also, there is no "traditional Final Fantasy" and there hasn't ever been. Final Fantasy veterans know this. The series has constantly evolved since FF II. With key words, job systems, magicite, materia, junctions, equipment abilities, sphere grid, gambits, etc.

phoenixwing294d ago

You got disagrees but no real rebuttal because yes the game has changed constantly and that's a good thing as long as you have an open mind

shinoff2183294d ago (Edited 294d ago )

First none of what either of you said are factual.

Second who are you to tell me if I'm a real fan or not cause I don't gush about ff16. I'm enjoying the story and that's about it. I believe goodguy is right on a few things but it's just my opinion.

Let's be honest snookeies12, sure ffs have changed different things while also keeping the idk I'll say core loosely, but it's never changed this much since with ff15(eh) and ff16(I'm in the middle far as the game itself, as a ff title eh). I've been playing since ff1 on nes somewhere around 89 91 ish. Your not gonna tell me I'm not a really ff fan, ff was my favorite series at one point. They started losing me around 12.

GoodGuy09294d ago (Edited 294d ago )

You've played any of the DMC games at all? Lmao this game is a poor knockoff of it, it's funny because I've been playing it like DMC using boring repetitive moves that easily kill enemies, there's no fun in that at all lmao. At least DMC you can pull off crazy combos, this game, you just spam eikon abilities.

Traditional FF is simply this...great story and characters that's also anime like. A great turn based battle system. An in depth and fun/addicting growth system (whether it be the job system, sphere grid, materias or junction). And ofc your typical rpg elements such as weakness exploitation and strategy.

This game has none of that. It's a simple and boring action adventure game that's a knockoff of dmc and game of thrones is all it is. 10hrs in has told me just that.

sagapo294d ago

@ phoenixwing: I can’t agree what you state here. Personal taste has barely anything to do with having an open mind. If you’re really into turnbased RPG and you see your favourite series evolve into an A-RPG which is something you don’t like, how would keeping an open mind help? It’s like when Gran Turismo would change into a straight up arcade racer, what would you say then? Keep an open mind my fellow sim racers?? Come on, that’s just BS.

sadraiden293d ago

You know damn well "traditional Final Fantasy" means turn based, 3 or 4 member party, job system, with amusing mini games to break up the cutscene tedium.

I think the problem old heads have with the new FF is the fact that the old FF is so steeped in nostalgia, most people probably don't remember how uncomfortable some of the old titles are to play. Hidden mechanics you need a strategy guide to even discover, lost forever items, and choices that don't seem to have any meaning on the story until much later, in which case you realize you answered all of the questions incorrectly 20 hours ago and you're fucked.

gold_drake294d ago (Edited 294d ago )

to be fair tho, you not playing the demo and finding out how it plays, is 100% on you.
especially if you are on the "traditional" side of the fandom.

you'd be better off playing the pixel remaster.

sure, it wasnt a turn based ff, and i really wanted it to be one, but i thought the combat was fairly good and enjoyable. and the dmc comparison also doesnt hold up, since its not rly comparable.

im an "old" fan too and you either go with the times or stop playing the newer ones, because i can tell you, they will never go back to turn based for the mainline.

this whole "traditional" or not is such a dumb argument. like whats that even mean. the series goes back to the late 80's
if you cant move on from that ... well, that's also on you.

GoodGuy09294d ago (Edited 294d ago )

I'm an FF fan, this is a main title, and made by the legendary "Yoshi-P" that everyone oh so loves so I blindly put trust in that. It's the heart and nostalgia of the fan in me that loved all the old FFs that keep hoping square can get it done right someday again. It's like a crappy drug addiction lmao.

Traditional has no meaning to newer fans and you've just proved yourself right there buddy, ain't bo bloody way you're an old fan as well that's played and loved these games back in the 90s and early 2000s.

fsfsxii294d ago

most demos give you a taste of whats to come, most people liked what the demo offered with the expectation that the combat will expand beyond that offering more combos and abilities. They do offer more abilities, but unfortunately the depth of the system is only puddle depth. I can't believe they thought having one combo string was enough.

shinoff2183293d ago

It wasn't just cause it wasn't turn based. It felt lacking in so many areas. I enjoy action jrpgs to. Star ocean another one of my top series, I enjoy all different types of rpgs. I've said I'd give ff16 a 7. Say what you want a 7 is still pretty sold.

How I see it, square sold us turn based fans out by trying to appeal to the masses. They've said as much themselves. While I don't like I'm not dumb , I understand. Ff16 just doesn't cut it for me. Yea it probably is time to move on from the series for me. I'll add though again it's not only the action I see as the problem as I enjoyed ff7 remake. I feel 16 was extremely dumbed down for the masses, one example as stupid as some might say it sounds , using fire to kill fire enemies is a no no in many rpgs.

gold_drake294d ago (Edited 294d ago )

how do you know that im not?
do you have any insight into my past?

we in europe didnt have 1-6, we had 7 and i loved it, i played all of them ever since and even went back to the first ones on the nes and snes and loved them.

just because i can appreciate newer stuff doesnt mean i have not played or loved the older ones.

what a stupid and ignorant take on your part. but be my guest. be stuck in whatever time you are stuck at.

and i couldnt care less that yoshi made the game. i dont rely on others to tell me whats good or not. unlike u it seems.

Daeloki294d ago

And based on your comment, you seem like the old generation who can't seem to grasp the concept that things change. All FF games have been different, that's the point. They have their core similarities and overarching themes and characters, but they're meant to be their own games. Catch up with the times gramps.

shinoff2183293d ago (Edited 293d ago )

Joffs like you are the reason

Also Get with the time , funny cause I enjoyed ff7 remake, star ocean 6 amazing, tales of arise etc . . Ff16 not completly for numerous reasons. Getting with the times ain't got sh to do with my issues with ff16

FinalFantasyFanatic294d ago (Edited 294d ago )

I don't even have a PS5 so I can't try the game, but I checked out of FF after FF15/FF7R, I'm hesitant to spend money on this franchise, even if the games are good.

This game sold well enough anyway, so I don't think anyone at SE is crying tears over it.

Z501293d ago (Edited 293d ago )

Alot to say for only 10 hours. Sounds like 1 maybe 2 Eikons in.

"I've been playing it like DMC using boring repetitive moves that easily kill enemies, there's no fun in that at all"

Sounds like a YOU problem. Not the game. I can play DMC just using a gun.

Flewid638293d ago

I hate the graphics/visuals/performance but.....this is the best FF game I've ever played since 7. The story alone is friggin amazing. It actually has good voice acting instead of the weabo nonsense of past entries.

gold_drake294d ago

yeh i can only imagine how that makes one feel, but he made a fantastic game, fk them haters.

Vx_293d ago (Edited 293d ago )

Boring and forgettable, I don’t even remember most of the main characters names in this one … while ff6,ff7,ff8,ff9 and even ff10 I still remember almost all of the characters names and places .. that is how memorable and amazing ff use to be… not this boring forgettable crap

gold_drake293d ago

and yet u still played it all the way through.

says more about you than anything else doesnt it.

Vx_293d ago (Edited 293d ago )

@ gold_drake I didn’t day it’s a bad unplayable game… don’t try to be smart on me and make your own conclusions, I was specific and said it’s a boring and forgettable game.

Flewid638293d ago

Other way around for me. All the other games were poorly dubbed, weaby nonsense. This is the first one since 7 with a good story and characters who dont talk like low budget anime characters.

Terry_B294d ago

Not getting a Final Fantasy game that looks and plays like a Final Fantasy game while everyone tells you it's a Final Fantasy game is.. tiresome too.

S2Killinit294d ago

I thought you were xbox only gamer.

Terry_B293d ago

...why? I don't even have one (actually never had one)

S2Killinit293d ago (Edited 293d ago )

I maybe wrong then. I must have mistook you for someone else.

VersusDMC294d ago

The change away from turn base started with XI that came out in 2002.

This is as tiresome as people still complaining about over the shoulder camera and action in RE4(and every RE after) isn't RE.

At some point you just have to accept that a franchise will drastically change gameplay styles with each entry. Or be deranged and still complain about it 20 years after they first made the change.

shinoff2183293d ago

I'd rather keep complaining then accept it. You don't need to conform at everything in life.

VersusDMC293d ago

@Shinoff

You are conforming to the past FFs.

An old man talking about how final fantasy isn't final fantasy anymore for the past 20 years.

And my comment is about saying XVI isn't FF is dumb but saying XVI isn't my kind of FF is fine.

shinoff2183293d ago

VersusDMC

it's still irrelevant because as I've stated. Ff7 remake was good , it isn't just the combat I have issues with in ff16. Ff7 remake was amazing, happens to be action to.

Soulsborne294d ago

Stick to MMO's Yoshi-P , its where you shine best.
