High On Life: Out now on PlayStation

From Squanch Games comes High On Life. Humanity is being threatened by an alien cartel who wants to use them as drugs. It’s up to you to rescue and partner with charismatic, talking guns, take down Garmantuous and his gang, and save the world!

They need the money and playstation install base

darthv72369d ago

....the same base that crapped all over it?

Sonic1881369d ago (Edited 369d ago )

@darthv72

Again, the devs is just trying to make more profit because PS has a bigger userbase. I can't speak on the playstation install base or if they crapped over the game. I don't know anything about that.

Lightning77369d ago

For 60$? Hell naw the games worth at least 20 or 30.

I'm surprised they're still releasing it for that much.

DarXyde368d ago

Lightning77,

"For 60$? Hell naw the games worth at least 20 or 30."

Do you mean at most? This doesn't read well.

The game has always come across as a bit of a novelty. I don't know how long it is or what replayability looks like, but yeah, I reckon a premium of $40 is probably most tolerable. Rick and Morty is in decline too, so I think the demand for this game is going to be a bit muted.

@darthv72

Ah, your true colors are beginning to show again! I don’t recall a “base” crapping all over anything, but I’m sure you have that same energy for Xbox fans who do the same with Final Fantasy then port beg.

shinoff2183368d ago

Darth

I, just one of the ps install base of the 100 something million , have no interest in it. You can't take the handful of us here who weren't interested as the majority base. Come on dude your old enough to know better

Darth. I'm ps and I really want to play it. I'm just keen to see if it's the AAA proof of xbox exclusives that some people in that install base were saying it is.

gold_drake368d ago

its .. not.
its a fun game, if you are into that kind of humor.
it does look good, but ganeplay couldnt be more generic for a first person shooter.

LoveSpuds368d ago

It's pretty good, like a solid 7/10 in my opinion. I did find I had to push through towards the end but overall I had a good time with it (I do really enjoy Rick & Morty, so enjoyed the humour in this game too).

In my view, this is the problem with games going to gamepass, it completely devalues your game. All of the zeitgeist has gone, people have moved on and then, on top of that, you expect PlayStation fans to pay 60-70 quid for what is now an old title that was given away for peanuts. Even if I wanted to play the game again on PS5, there is no way I am spending more than 20-30 quid, the hype has been used up, its an old game at this point.

darthv72369d ago

Now maybe PS fans will stop hating on it. Its fun / funny and worth a play through.

Christopher369d ago

Or maybe people will realize it wasn't just "PS fans" hating on it.

ocelot07369d ago

I'm a really big Rick and Morty fan. I got a bit bored of it after 2 or so hours. May try it again when it's cheap.

BrainSyphoned368d ago

Nope not playing it anywhere. If it is day one PS+ I wouldn't even add it to my library.

Asplundh368d ago

Who said they weren't? In response to Playstation gamers saying that MS was taking games from it's competition by buying up developers, Xbox gamers claimed that Sony was ALSO keeping games from the competition by making timed deals, never was the narrative that timed exclusive were bad.

It would be irrational to think it's ok for a company to buy a developer or plublisher and not ok for a company to make timed deals on 3rd party games.

Outside_ofthe_Box368d ago (Edited 368d ago )

"Who said they weren't?"

Gee... I dunno... maybe... the people who use it as a reason why Microsoft are the good guys for buying Activision? Even though MS themselves do timed exclusives as well?

"Xbox gamers claimed that Sony was ALSO keeping games from the competition by making timed deals, never was the narrative that timed exclusive were bad."

#1. Microsoft is ALSO keeping games from the competition by making timed deals. Using this as a comeback to buying a publisher is silly because Sony's timed deals are a response to Microsoft's timed deals. Let's not even get started on the fact that timed deals are nowhere near equivalent to to buying a publisher which bring me to #2...

#2. Timed deals are not permanent. So they aren't taking games away at all unlike buying up the biggest publishers in the industry. People that demonize Sony for timed 3rd party deals but then say Microsoft are doing good by gamers everywhere by buying multiplatform publishers are crazy.

def play this one. I had a great time

Sciurus_vulgaris368d ago

I’m in the same boat as you. While I did find some of the humour annoying, mainly Kenny and Roiland-voiced characters. High on Life’s gameplay and story are actually pretty solid, in my opinion.

ken2813368d ago

As the President of the PS fan club…. We good!!!!

ibrake4naps368d ago

hope they added a new gun, level, or VR support

PunksOnN4G368d ago

^ this i mean they made a few VR games for PSVR idk why they would miss the chance to make this to a top tier VR title

ocelot07368d ago

Would deffinetly buy if it had psvr 2 support.

High On Life PS5 and Xbox Series limited print physical editions announced

Squanch Games will open pre-orders for physical standard and Collector’s editions of High On Life for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on February 27 via Limited Run Games and IGN Store, the developer announced. Pre-orders will close on March 31.

ravens52153d ago

I guess it's better than no physical at all. I was using LR when they first started. I have Oddworld New and Tasty, Octodad, Shadow Complex etc. I fell off at some point and just felt I couldn't continue so I stopped. I just would much rather be able to purchase these games off Amazon.

LoveSpuds153d ago

I used to give into fomo a lot in the early days but I am much more choosy these days. I did play this on Gamepass back in the day and had a good time with it, so I have pre-ordered a copy as I'd like to Plat this on my PS5.

jznrpg152d ago

These aren’t super limited prints so whoever preorders will get one.

BrainSyphoned153d ago

Does it come with the layer of dust this game deserves or do you have to work at it?

High On Life's DLC Hilariously Mocks God Of War Ragnarok's Puzzle Spoilers

The recently released High on Life DLC, High on Knife, takes a jab at God of War Ragnarok's puzzle-spoiling mechanic that irked many players.

ravens52291d ago

Lol. I always got em before he said anything anyway lol

Seth_hun291d ago

How? Because boy spoiling the puzzle before you even see it :D

MrNinosan291d ago

Same, wasn't there a setting for how quickly Atreus would spoil shit 😏

JEECE290d ago

Yeah I heard a lot about this before I played, and then it almost never affected me when I played the game (the few times it did were with bird form Freya).

Honestly it makes me wonder if a bunch of people are just really terrible at puzzles and took forever to do them and got hints. It's either that or they patched the game to slow down the hints (I played about 5 months after launch).

H9291d ago

Couldn't get more accurate tho

GoodGuy09291d ago

I like GOW puzzles but honestly I felt there was way too much in Ragnarok.

LoveSpuds291d ago

Perhaps another dev will include content in their game mocking devs who devalue their work by giving their games away on streaming services and then expecting to be able to charge full price for it a year later?

PhillyDonJawn291d ago

That doesn't devalue their work. They get paid regardless. How you wanna spend to play is up to the consumer

LoveSpuds291d ago (Edited 291d ago )

Getting paid my MS still devalued their work squire. Rightly or wrongly, when they announced the PS5 version of the game, I didn't give two hoots. It was an old game by the time it came, all the buzz had gone and I knew it was free elsewhere; there was no chance I was paying full price for that
now old game, it wasn't worth it in my view.

Even in articles that have absolutely nothing to do with GamePass, someone will inevitably bring it up.

Welcome to N4G.

Rgbsquad290d ago

Yeah I cringed when I read his comment. Like fr

porkChop291d ago

It's just a lighthearted joke. Don't take it so seriously.

jambola291d ago

Sad when other developers put more effort into Mocking a flaw than Santa Monica does into fixing it

Christopher291d ago

Literally a setting in Ragnarok to turn it off/lessen how often it happens.

Juvia291d ago

Yes
There is

All you are doing is showing that you never played it. What a fool.

jambola291d ago

Then tell me where
and if you're saying that, you're saying the same about the actual developers too

Christopher290d ago

Nah, jambola is correct and I was misremembering the setting. It was Time Delay for puzzles, not hint delay.
