Isn't loading screens between everything auto pilot enough??

Fishy Fingers444d ago (Edited 444d ago )

Not sure what that even means but i think the point being while in space you could do other activities in the ship (craft resources, weapon upgrades, interact with companions etc) while you have auto pilot engaged rather than be in the cockpit all the time.

Rocketisleague444d ago (Edited 444d ago )

Ah I see - eh, judging from the other space games - thats a design choice normally? Not sure if bethesda will do the whole space flight thing? Does it take long to fly some places(minutes?) I doubt its gonna be a sim like some others, (star citizen, hidden dangers), probs more like NMS? Unlikely to be a heavy physics engine (outer wilds)?

Fishy Fingers444d ago

Feel like you should just go watch the deep drive mate https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Rocketisleague444d ago (Edited 444d ago )

I...have watched it. In only backs up what I thought? Even boarding an enemy ship is a loading screen right? You don't get out of your ship like outer wilds or star citizen? Right?

One especially important thing about bethesda show cases - if they don't show something - its because its embarrising for them to show. This datesa all the way back to oblivion

Fishy Fingers444d ago (Edited 444d ago )

Again, I'm struggling to see any relevance loading screens have to the article or them being "auto pilot enough??"

This is about when in space, not just take off and landing

Rocketisleague444d ago

And when in space...does it take longer than a.minute of flying to something? I don't get it? As far as I can see its small scale? You don't fly planet to planet? Please tell me why autopilot?

@Rocketisleague Aren't loading screens SO last gen? I did used to use loading screens as a time to grab a quick bite of a snack or whatever, but since consoles finally decided to stop torturing us, and I've had an SSD and then NVME drive in my comp as soon as possible... Point is, what loading screens? If it lasts for less than 5 seconds like most current gen games, I'm not sure what you're trying to complain about. They only exist on Switch now.

Rocketisleague442d ago (Edited 442d ago )

Just stating facts. Why would you need autopilot in a game with no long distance travel? It has loading screens instead of that. Where other space games have...long distance travel. For example, no mans sky allows you to fly around solar systems, elite dangerous has no loading screens at all. It allows you to travel between star systems manually, unlike no mans sky which has a loading screen. Even no mans sky's black hole is a disappointing loading screen

Then there is star citizen, the realistic one. Where breaching an enemy ship is exactly what you'd expect in real life... no loading screens. You get out your ship and fly in whatever hole you made in the enemy ship. Or you dock with them.

Bethesda are going the way of all of the games, which is fine. Just what are you expecting out of it? No mans sky? Star citizen? Its a Bethesda game set in space. It has all the quirks Bethesda games have. I mean they haven't had a city that you couldn't enter without loading screens since morrowind. Likewise you can't enter the atmosphere of a planet yourself. Something that has been around for a long time now.

Even in morrowind you could jump halfway across the world directly into a city. That was gone from oblivion onwards and into fallout, changing the entire gameplay of course.

jwillj2k4443d ago

Auto pilot means you get to walk around the ship in space. I highly doubt the ship is progressing through space in real-time though since it’s essentially a point and click game when it comes to travel.

Christopher444d ago

Maybe it's just me, but I'd think autopilot is more of a quick travel mode than anything else, so might not give you time to do things but just get you to known points of interests rapidly but advance the in game calendar/clock as appropriate.

dumahim444d ago

Maybe slow quick travel. They're probably not going to just let you fast travel anywhere right from the start, so this autopilot thing is just how you're going to get to new locations the first time.

Christopher444d ago

I think if you go to the starmap to select a destination and autopilot is selected it will just take you there. If you don't have it enabled, it will likely just mark it for your target location. I don't see the point of having it otherwise just slowly autopilot itself to a destination because that's a waste of time on the player and you can craft at any point while in your ship, so can do it when you land/before you take off/etc.

StrykerOfAurole444d ago

Or like, just craft? Vapor-read. Someone got paid to type out words that are loosely affiliated with a game. Really wish we had about 1/10th of gaming articles that we currently have by getting rid of all these "articles" that are just absolutely pointless, substance-less dreck.

Cannot wait until these people get replaced by AI and be forced to work in a field that actually benefits society.

Profchaos444d ago

More time for crafting I'll be honest crafting in every game feels like a chore and i don't find it enjoyable in Bethesda games I do the bare minimum so I hope it's no worse than fallout 4 was I can tolerate that mostly just let me scrap my items get my space caps and buys space guns

Still a very healthy playerbase on Steam and Xbox. I'm looking forward to the expansion.

Obscure_Observer20d ago

"Didn't know SF needed saving."

It doesn´t.

pwnmaster300020d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Starfield was the biggest disappointment for me this gen coming from a huge Bethesda fan.
Put countless of hours into morrowind, oblivion, Skyrim, fallout 3 /4/new Vegas. Even played all the dlc for those games.
But Star field was the biggest piece of crap I played from Bethesda. I didn’t even play it on gamepass . I actually bought the game to support Bethesda.

Now I’m scared for the next elder scroll.

Obscure_Observer20d ago

"Now I’m scared for the next elder scroll."

Sure... Starfield was your biggest disappointed this gen and now you´re scared for Elder Scroll which is a game that will be directed by the exact same person?

If you really feel that way, you should just drop your act while you skip upcoming games from Todd Howard entirely.

pwnmaster300020d ago (Edited 20d ago )

“I agree, I can’t wait for Bethesda’s next game so they can shut all the haters up..
Been a fan since playing Morrowind on the original Xbox. Good times.

I like Obsidian and I think their next games will be good but let’s get real“

https://n4g.com/news/236133...

Me from this article 1504d ago.

Go ahead and keep talking.
We arnt all bias like you.

Oh here is another one

“I don’t remember being able to use spell and sword in obilivion.
But at the same time I played as a wood elf archer..
Still pretty excited for it.
Say what you want with Bethesda but their elderscroll game is on point and hope this game can match it.“
https://n4g.com/news/236101...

I’ll wait for your reply. Knowing you won’t lol

pwnmaster300020d ago

“This is major acquire for MS.
Tbh I’m not really sure what Bethesda make besides elderscroll and fallout, but that alone made me a big fan. If you weren’t investing a PC, Xbox is looking to good to pass up next gen.

I hope this helps Bethesda make a come back.
Literally yesterday if anyone mention them, they would of shitted on them and that was coming from both sides.
I had a feeling they were gonna get purchased.
They been loosing a lot of steam from there fans and this is a great way to regain some back.
Sony was slacking and now they are hurting.

If they don’t acquire more studios, they will lose to MS in the future“

https://n4g.com/news/237385...

Another one.

Don’t ever doubt me again.

Gamingsince198119d ago

You don't need to justify your opinion to obscure observer , this is the guy that makes 15 alt accounts a week to troll people and complain about n4g being biased lol

Obscure_Observer19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

"I’ll wait for your reply. Knowing you won’t lol"

Why wouldn´t I??

A lot of people got disappointed on Starfield for a lot of reasons. Empty planets, loading screens, lack of content, NPCs, exploration, world building, ship building, combat... you name it; and that´s fine!

If you don´t like the game, nobody can blame you if that´s not your cup of tea.

That been said, you called Starfield a piece of sh!t. Literally a 0/10 trash game.

So I ask you: How on earth can *you* expect ANYTHING from Bethesda´s next RPG?

I mean, by your own admission, you have a POS as director, a POS team of developers and a POS engine behind the next Elder Scrolls.

So pardon me if you own comments makes you sound like a hypocrite, because imo, you shouldn´t be "scared" for TES VI at all, you should just give it a hard pass since you know the team behind it. Would you? No. I don´t think you will. And that´s the reason why I told you to drop the act.

Got it?

432p.... wow that is low. But hey... they got it done. Personally I wouldnt play it that way as it would be too soft but for those who have no choice (other than buying an X) at least get something more than the 30fps cap at launch.

just_looken22d ago

It has a better framerate but lower resolution that fallout 3 on xbox 360 just remember that.

Gamingsince198122d ago (Edited 22d ago )

432p ?? Wtf 🤣 that would look muddy on a switch screen let alone a TV.

Luc2021d ago

432p that's worse than PS2. What were they thinking when designing this console

darthv7221d ago

Weren't most PS2 games 480i... (aka 240p)?

Christopher22d ago

Woof. They got there, but that is a very heavy cost. I hope there are gamers out there that are happy with this? But, honestly, that machine? I'm not a fan. Haven't been. I really wish they had just released the single hardware. I wouldn't pay to play at that level in this day and age.

darthv7222d ago

...that's the power of sliders

Christopher22d ago

I'm fine with sliders up until a game like Last Epoch is so hungry for power that I have them all at low while I'm playing BG3 at very high. *grumble grumble grumble*

The Series S is a mistake that a room full of drunks thought was a great idea. Again I can understand affordability but at what cost? Microsoft fumbled the ball and should yet again follow the path Sony took. Same machine same specs one has a disc drive the other doesn't. Personally I would go with the machine that has the most horse power hence the Series X. I don't know about other people but I don't like nerfed down games just so they can run on the Series S. Where I live nobody wants the Series S there have been some pawn shops that have said no to the Series S it doesn't sell.
