Two games with incredibly robust, action-driven combat systems- but which one comes out on top?

God of War for me however some Eikon fights were a little more epic in scale but then again that’s not what the newer God of War games were going for compared to its previous games so it’s a design choice.

Things just felt more rewarding in GoW and it had elemental weaknesses which give it a touch more strategy.

Flawlessmic667d ago

Spectacle and boss battles, its ff16 and it's not even close.

Overall combat system though, its gowr and its not even close

Ezio2048668d ago

GoW for me but maybe that's a personal bias. FFXVI's combat is equally good though.

victorMaje667d ago

God of War for me, but some cinematic combat moments in FFXVI are simply incredible, also in some instances I got some serious DBZ vibes :)

Flawlessmic667d ago

Yesssss!!

The bahamut battle I was sitting there thinking this is ff vs dragonball z hahaha 2 of my most favourite things in the world

Gianoni33667d ago

God of war is more robust and deep. FFXVI more fun and spectable.

Somethings I think GOW is too much slow. FFXVI superficial

Sarevok667d ago

the old God of war games have better combat.
I don't care for emotional walking sim god of boy.
so I'll give it to ff16.

Darkwatchman667d ago (Edited 667d ago )

You can criticize the heavy narrative focus of the new games all you want but the new games also objectively have far deeper combat with a far higher skill ceiling. Old God of War is super simplistic by comparison

Curious as to what this means:

'The Japanese branch of GamesIndustry.biz (Translation: DeepL, adjusted)'.

What is DeepL?

Nerdmaster42d ago

@Knushwood Butt
It looks like you also don't know that Google is.

Pro-tip: enter google.com, type "What is DeepL?" and press enter.

FF16 sales the time, and tbh game the time

S2Killinit43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

What about all the damage he did? People were talking like this game was a flop.

StormSnooper43d ago

I think that is why he is apologizing. He wants to make sure he doesn’t get sued for defamation.

badz14943d ago

SE and Sony definitely should sue him

Babadook744d ago (Edited 44d ago )

This isn’t news. The analyst could be right or wrong. Square Enix hasn’t said anything.

mandf44d ago

He admitted he was wrong didn’t have knowledge of the actual sales

Babadook743d ago (Edited 43d ago )

When there is knowledge of actual sales you wouldn’t need an analyst. He more or less admits his analysis is wrong but that’s bound to happen in that field. They make predictions that they hope will be useful. This wasn’t.

Anyway, it seems people are taking my comment as an attack on this game. I like the game and hope it does well. Hopefully FF gets a resurgence. They pretty much deserve that. I just think this story is of no importance.

Obviously a game that stayed on the top ten then regularly returned to the top 10/20 and then released on PC would have sold more than .5m more than the first week sales.

lol even with facts certain people will still not believe it

The Wood43d ago

@pwnmaster3000

They don't wanna believe....... narratives need to be upheld at all costs

Elantregaless43d ago

Steam user scores and Playstation scores indicate otherwise.

Exactly. The analyst does not mean anything.
As far as we know the official sales are still at 3 million.

Analyst is wrong again. Shocking.

CrashMania44d ago

Always thought it was the case, sold 3 million in the first week and 300k on PC from the last numbers we got, so only 200k extra copies in almost 2 years on PS5 and since the PC release?

Make it make sense lol

pwnmaster300043d ago

Doesn’t matter. People will still believe the mistake. How are you an analyst and get it wrong?

jznrpg43d ago

Analysts have agendas so you can not trust what they say in articles.

42d ago
JEECE43d ago

Yep. You better believe in two years when people are making an argument about big AAA games not selling enough, or PS5 exclusives not selling, or Japanese games not selling, or whatever the dumb argument happens to be, this "number" will get cited as evidence. The retraction never has the same reach as the false story.

mandf43d ago

That’s why propaganda works

well... its not quite what I was expecting but still nice they honor the spartan.

VenomUK51d ago

What an absolute half-hearted and shoddy way for Sony to commemorate the epic God of War series. A few alternative skins and the option to buy t-shirts or vinyl. It would have been better to not have any celebration. Abysmal.

No offense Sony… but nobody is playing God of war ragnarok in 2025…

andy8551d ago

Every month in 2025 God of War Ragnarok has had more steam users than Starfield.

Inverno51d ago

Bruv I'm pretty there are more people playing literally anything BUT Starfield.

Profchaos51d ago

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if there was more people playing bubsy 3d than starfield

Profchaos51d ago

Yeah no one at all especially when it just became available to the millions of PS plus subscribers

PanicMechanic51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Maybe it’s because I sold my Ps5 last year and built a new PC. But ragnarok I finished in 2022 when it released. Don’t have any motivation to replay.

Profchaos51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

It would have been nice to have a PS plus drop of the ps2 original though I get that

Cacabunga51d ago

I actually installed it again today to try the latest roguelite DLC. Costumes is a nice addition but def expected something else.

Killer2020UK51d ago

Mate, I only started playing the previous one. It holds up unbelievably well considering it was a PS4 release

Damn Sony
You keep on remastering recent games and yet choose not to for a franchise that's celebrating it's 20 years?
I'm sure a lot of old and new fans would appreciate being able to play the entire saga using their current gen consoles.

Shane Kim51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Sure but that would require to actually remaster. Not selling the same game from last gen in a new box and call it remaster.

Profchaos51d ago

I admit I got a bit swept up in thinking we would get a PS classics drop of the first game on PS plus not a remaster or anything just running under the new ps2 emulator id be.halpy with that or the PSP games that deserve more praise really
