I'm actually really excited for this, as I spent just short of a year on Oahu for a work contract back in 2009. This looks really nice and brings back warm feelings.

@0:53 looks like it took some artistic liberties and used Maui's Haleakala crater as inspiration. (which feels weird, bc it's such a protected, sacred area!) Western Oahu doesn't look like that, but it's cool to bring a bit more variety to this overworld.

Never really got into the crew franchise but this looks ace, definitely gonna pick this one up

Yea Hawaii is an underutilized region in gaming for sure! I hope they open up more islands in the future.

Is it company policy for everyone to have a buzz cut...even the women....blah

It looks pretty promising; interesting varied location and according to first impressions the gameplay is good this time. But tbh I half expect Ubi to botch it all in the execution when they throw in mandatory sign-ups, always online, micro-transactions, GaaS, etc etc.

This would have been a no-brainer as an offline SP game where you just get a complete package and unlock new stuff through running through missions and a career-mode, but if the focus here is on ‘community’ and milking us dry, then shrugs and hard pass …

Play the second if you get a chance, think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Ooohh... Thanks for letting us know. I played the closed beta and enjoyed it. Unfortunately I didn't buy it... Kinda hoping to see it comes to PS Plus in the future, just like The Crew 2.

Bought it the other day for $17. Figured why not 🤷🏾 . They added, or are going to add offline mode.

You'd have to pay me to play this

Remember if you buy it, they will eventually shut down the servers, and take the game away from you. So enjoy it while you can.

They've announced that both TC2 and TCM are getting offline modes to prevent the same situation as TC1 when the servers shutdown.

Chocoburger160d ago

That is good news, but it requires a patch... Which are hosted on servers, which can go down anytime Ubisoft feels like it. This offline mode is not actually burned onto the 1.0 disc version, correct?

I definitely recommend trying this and seeing if it's worth your time. I got it with a massive discount right before the year 2 update dropped, and coming from Forza Horizon, I was expecting something that might offer a dozen or two hours before I got bored. Over 100 hours later, and I'm still playing this daily.

Where Horizon 5 just feels like a hollow game trying to replicate the excellent Horizon 2 and 3, this provides a ton of content that is neither given to you with no effort (Horizon 5), or overly grindy just to build up your garage (FM2023). The map actually feels fun to drive around too, and has a good mix of road and gravel with lots of verticality.
