Today Atlus hosted an extensive livestream about its upcoming fantasy game Metaphor ReFantazio, confirming the platform and providing more details.
The protagonist in Sega and Atlus' upcoming role-playing game, Metaphor: ReFantazio, will not be a "blank slate".
I do prefer at least a little personality a silent protagonist can show. Joker was done pretty well in p5.
Let us speak of the old vulture’s last grasp for power. The tournament for the throne is set, Metaphor: ReFantazio is coming October 11th, 2024!
According to an insider, the launch date for Metaphor: ReFantazio on the Hong Kong wishlist page may be off by one day.
I really like what I've seen from this game thus far. Hearing the rationale behind the music was super interesting and I'm really curious to hear what else in store there. It feels like they approached some Theravada Buddhist monks, played some of the more ominous music from Valkyria Chronicles, and said, "Alright, pray". It's a very interesting choice and is foreign territory. I've got full faith though. I haven't met an Atlus RPG soundtrack I didn't like. Coming off Persona 5 though, that's tough to follow.
The art style is very pleasant and it almost breaks my heart a little. It really reminds me of Gravity Rush 2. Not much else to say there.
Last point I want to make: they mention the sort of themes they'd like to explore with this game: "facing your fear". It's a bit reminiscent of Persona 4, but that game was more about facing the parts of yourself you were ashamed of and accepting it to be whole. Persona 5 was great in exploring the concept of social cognition. The themes sounds simple enough, but Atlus has such brilliant delivery with these things and I really look forward to how this shakes out.
