So early 2025 then, why even show SoD at the series S/X console reveal event then ? That's a joke tbh making out the games at the reveal event were like 2 years away to get you to buy a Xbox when in reality it has took them 3 years plus to release anything.

__SteakDeck__320d ago

Lol They did the same thing for Hellblade, Fable, Avowed, and Outer worlds 2. Like I said in a comment below. MS did it because they needed to ensure that compared to the Xbox One gen, they would have AAA games this time that wasn’t just Halo, Gears, Forza.

Bathyj320d ago

Because Xbox had no momentum at all and they needed anything to get people interested.

And they don't care how far away games are. They like it as long as you don't unsubscribe.

Xbox is the pay to wait console.

LOGICWINS320d ago

No different than Metroid Prime 4 and TLOU Factions being announced years ago and still not released yet. Are the Switch and Playstation "pay to wait consoles" as well?

Flawlessmic320d ago

@logic

Those are the exceptions not the rule unlike ms

RpgSama320d ago

@Logicwins

One game does not equal the entire Microsoft Xbox Series X conference, 90% of the games shown 3 years ago have not released and most of them do not even have a release date now.

CrimsonWing69320d ago

Yea publishers need to knock this sh*t off. Don’t announce or show a game unless you’re 1-2 years ready for release. It’s obnoxious and really annoying. Nobody wants to wait this long for a title that literally has a CG movie and then goes dark for 5 years

hiroyukisanada320d ago

This is the main problem I have with Xbox. They have been the worst of the three at showing a title then making you wait the entire generation before it comes out.
It has become so bad that, last June, they were like "this is coming to Xbox in the next 12 months" and I almost got one but remembered it's marketing spiel to get me to buy one for Christmas.
Then, lo and behold, 13 of those games didn't hit that window and I wasn't remotely surprised.
This might be the first generation I just completely skip them because by the time they have a large enough stable of must-own exclusives, I will be saving for the next generation of Playstation/Nintendo and I'll just get GPU on my Abxylute every now and then to try one then cancel it.

EvertonFC320d ago (Edited 320d ago )

I bought a Samsung TV, and I'm just gonna subscribe for a few Months of GP through Samsung gaming hub and stream the 1st party games in a year or 2 or twd's the end of the gen and binge play the 1st party catalogue and a few indies.

Those games are still 2 years away from being released? Smh.

RupeeHoarder320d ago

Why would you show State of Decay as early as they did? I thought this game was 2024 at worst…. Now it’s 2025 confirmed

__SteakDeck__320d ago

You could also ask the same question, why did they announce Hellblade, Fable, Avowed, Everwild, Outer Worlds 2, etc. I’ll tell you why they did it. They did it because they wanted to tell people “This time we will have games, they’re coming”. As the Series X was launching, they needed to show that compared to the Xbox One gen, Xbox would be having AAA exclusives this time. Also remember most of these announcements were before the Bethesda deal. What MS didn’t tell people is that these games would take 5+ years to release. This is why Sony didn’t show much from their SP 1st Party studios at their showcase. Those games are not ready. They don’t need to show CG trailers like MS did, because they’ve earned the public’s trust with releasing great AAA exclusive games. Something MS hasn’t done yet.

giovonni320d ago

MS is damn if they do damned if they don’t. It doesn’t matter what MS does it’s always going to be something. They show games coming as a whole “it’s a problem” they show games coming in a certain window.. it’s a problem. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Deathdeliverer320d ago (Edited 320d ago )

This is one of the many major differences between Sony and Nintendo versus Microsoft. You’ll see a Sony showcase or a Nintendo one and think “wow that’s it?” When in reality those are games coming out within the next 6 months or so. There may be ONE or TWO year or more out games in there but those are usually blockbusters and usually just a year out. Final Fantasy 16 (which if you hadn’t played the demo you’re nuts), Spider-Man 2 (the first time it was shown about a year ago), Wolverine for example… Nintendo does the same with Zelda, Xeno games, Splatoon 2. When you found out about the game it was almost complete.
Microsoft is perfectly fine with using showcases and such as a chance to sell eventualities. They sold the Xbox one on the power of the cloud. Eventually it would be 2 or more times as powerful. People in chats and forums would argue for the cloud and its impending impact.
Sony will ALWAYS have quality first party games in the pipe. You literally never know what they might show. Every game they sold you a PS5 with trailer wise and sizzle reel wise has come out long ago. How has Microsoft competed with that? Showing trailers. Then at the next event a few more trailers of the same games. Then at the next event a few more trailers of the same game but this time with a snippet of gameplay and still no dates. (But somehow they’re given a pass). I’ve had my series X since day one and the only games that came out that Microsoft tried to sell the system on is Halo infinite and Forza. Everything else was obviously so far from completion that you have to wonder, why show it? Hell, I forgot about Redfall, but talk about mismanagement. If they had not bought Zenimax and acquired what they already had in the works the X wouldn’t even have that. (Or HiFi as it was a shadow drop) Point is clear though, Microsoft will tell you ANYTHING and show you ANYTHING to get you invested. You’ll get what you came for…. Eventually.

Maybe you will get them ,some may be broke or canceled and some may show up eventually .

What are they doing over there? Sounds like they canceled something big. I read a rumor a while back about ff9 remake . Here "Final Fantasy IX has gone through a very challenging development, the game is still in progress but may undergo changes drastic enough that we won't hear about it for a couple of years."
This could be one of the reasons if the rumor is true. That was Silknight i don't know how credible he is but it's something and it would make sense.

-Foxtrot1h ago

I hope IX is still on the cards

Just a straight up remake which they expand a little bit nothing over ambitious

If IX dosent happen then VI and VIII will never be thought of.

TiredGamer5m ago

What are they doing? Sales are falling and the costs are out of control. Big releases need to be absolute sales home runs now, and Final Fantasy sales have stagnated.

Now we know why Square didn’t fall over themselves to remake the original FF7 all these years ago. It certainly wasn’t a license to print money, at least not with what the expectations were. Each of these full on remakes drains an enormous amount of company resources for a razor thin profit margin.

shadowT2h ago

Do not miss Final Fantasy 16. Great game!

raWfodog1h ago

I'm waiting for them to release the complete edition bundle, but it's definitely on my list.

PhillyDonJawn1h ago

Wth is going on with the gaming industry?

mandf20m ago

Corporate investors taking everything

TiredGamer1h ago

The industry implosion is continuing. Sky high budgets, prolonged development windows, stagnant sales numbers, and falling currency values (inflation) are wreaking havoc on the legacy industry. AAA games will slowly become the rarity.

CS758m ago

Sad. Rebirth was one of my favorite games in a long time. Should have sold more.
